mini starter call! let's see if i still have this Geezer grumbling in my head
miicheva:
Darn! She was so close! Yakov looked very serious a moment ago, she was doing her best to be sneaky but the other caught her. Mila gave up on the photo and laughed.
❝ I’ve finished, Coach! ❞ She replied putting away her phone and quickly getting on her skates.
“then let’s go through the new part of your routine from yesterday.”
doesn’t he always look serious? what’s the novelty in that that’d have to make it into a photo? if she wanted a serious photo of him, she could save the one from the rsu’s homepage...
@miicheva 💕d for a starter
“oi!” yakov’s hand rises reflexively at this point, fast enough to make whatever unflattering picture mila managed to snap of him look completely blurry. around these youngsters, he has to be on his toes all the damn time. “i don’t want to see myself on your social media! are you finished stretching?”
it may seem like all he ever does is scold these kids, but the truth is, more often than not, there are things to scold them about. if they want him to stop grumbling, all they should do is follow simple instructions. why this seems to be so difficult, yakov will likely never understand.
@ledfcya 💕d for a starter
“how long are you going to be fooling around?” [i’m so very done]-meter currently at 65%. yakov leans against the railing and watches his brightest student as he acts like he is nowhere near being the brightest at all. in fact, he’s lucky if he won’t fall across his own feet. (maybe an exaggeration. maybe. yakov is fond of exaggerating. it tends to make people pay a bit more attention. not that vitya will ever do anything except precisely what he wants to do, no matter what yakov says...)
i sort of forgot i had this blog

lilia: so how are you lately?
yakov: well, i have this headache that comes and goes…
viktor: *enters the room*
yakov: there it is.
Me @ me: “Hey maybe don’t draw the entire first season of YOI from yakov feltsman’s perspective. That will take weeks and you’re an adult with a life”
…I did it.
Bonus:
Loosely based on this post.

Coach me
“sorry, i’ve got my hands quite full at the moment, and i doubt you could outdo any of them to make it worth my while.”
iceprcdigy:
the blond grabs his purple skate guards that were near the exit of the rink. he slip them on before walking to the break room. he isn’t going to bother removing his skates just to get a drink. on his way to the break room, he picks up his cell phone, somewhat looking through the content on his social media.
he feels stupid for letting such a small thing bother him so much. usually, this sort of thing doesn’t happen. he doesn’t let small things affect him or his skating. but, there is always a first. yuri grabbed one of the warm drinks and sat down at one of the tables. his eyes still locked on his cell phone screen as he sips on the drink. yuri decided to linger in the room, letting his body rest before forcing it to skate and do jumps over and over again until his whole body hurts. his coach would storm in if he had a problem with this.
that was his first mistake. he stumbled upon his friend otabek’s picture that he post about an hour ago. somehow the blond has talked the kazakh skater into using the social platform more often. he was going to comment something until he noticed mila fangirling over him in the comments. the feeling of jealously punched in the face faster than a bullet train from japan. his second mistake was tossing his cell phone across the room out of the negative feeling.
some time passes, while yakov watches the rest of the skaters practice, but after a while he cannot help but notice that it’s been far too long for yuri to be gone just for a drink. grumbling under his breath, he tells the group that he’ll be right back, and then turns his steps toward the break room.
the timing is just about perfect -- depending on the point of view, of course. in this case, that means perfectly disastrous. yuri hurls his phone across the room in the exact same moment yakov enters -- and it smacks him square in the face.
he catches it reflexively as it drops towards the ground, then stares at yuri for a long moment, his face reddening. “what the everloving hell is wrong with you today?!”
ledkorol:
“I gave it a little thought,” Viktor insisted, although he had to admit, this had been a fast decision even by his standards. “I know it’s a bit tight schedule, but I’m sure with your help I can make it work. And I can’t just abandon him in the middle of the season. What kind of coach and fiance would I be then.” He’s still not over flaunting their engagement to practically anyone who would listen. But then he turns more serious. “I need to take part in the Nationals to qualify for any of the international competitions.”
“you could have just let him retire,” yakov suggests, though a moment later he adds, “but that would have been a waste.” he lets out a somewhat exasperated sigh, rolling his eyes at vitya. “why do i feel like this is going to end in me being saddled with both of you? yuri is half as much trouble as you are, even though he’s every bit as stubborn as you are.” he wants to sound disgruntled, but somehow it still manages to be fond.
cadeinama:
“Ah…” Crap, he’s been figured out. He should’ve known, granted, if anything he’s more observant than Viktor was. “It wasn’t feeling that bad this morning, I didn’t think it’d affect it that much-”
“i didn’t tell you to think. i told you to stretch it.” maybe he’s being harsh, but katsuki’d better learn to make adjustments for that, if he wants to study here with vitya. welll, technically he’s vitya’s student, but since they’re both registered under yakov (since vitya can’t actually be a coach and a competitor at the same time according to ISU regulations), he’s the de jure coach. and it’s not like he’s wrong. “stretch it now, and put some sportscream on it. i’m not telling you again.”
@ledkorol liked for a starter !
“you do know that you chose a really stupid time to get back into competing, right?” of course viktor knows. he’s not stupid, even if he acts like it a lot of the time. “you have two weeks before the nationals. and you still want to coach katsuki too... you didn’t think this through at all, did you?” though technically, it’s not impossible. for anyone else it would be, but when it comes to vitya, yakov just... doesn’t have expectations anymore, because the other would exceed them anyway. besides, throughout the GP he was choreographing for yuuri, training together with him, so at least he’s not horribly out of shape... but he still needs to whip up a program of his own in the time left to him.
@cadeinama liked for a starter !
he might be old, but he’s not blind, thank you very much. “let me guess, vitya told me i was fussing too much, and you didn’t stretch out your calf after you fell on it yesterday. all of your takeoffs are sloppy as hell.”
i actually have icons now (and they’re almost all either “YOU GODDAMN BRAT” or just “ugh.”) but anyway, starter call!
