Fix-it fic where Jack doesn’t die but gets close??

Jack being fed up with Ennis and his frequent emotional outbursts about moving in together….

Telling him that, while yes, he understands that his father fucked him up, he’s dead now, he can’t hurt you.

Ennis shooting back with “but other people can!! What don’t you get about that?? This world ain’t sunshine and rainbows Jack!”

Jack grabs Ennis’ chin, staring him dead in his eyes, “your right, Ennis, it’s not, but I’ll be damned if I let you let yourself rot in a trailer somewhere because you were too cowardly to let yourself have some good for once!!”

Well I have a fic idea now…

so many people ive known have pushed themselves to burnout trying to deny their disabled reality, skipping accommodations, skipping rests etc. and the world convinces them that the solution to their burnout is to push even harder. it’s a huge tragedy. i know social pressures make it tough but i want more disabled people to make things easier for themselves where possible, to opt out of things that harm them when possible, to quit while they’re ahead. be that person today! protect yourself where you can! take micro breaks while doing your hobby. get that shower chair. sit to brush your teeth. lie down in the middle of the day, even if only for 5 mins. these things add up and it’s so worth it.

A 2x watcher of brokeback yaps about the four main characters (Jack, Ennis, Alma and Lureen)

I’ve watched brokeback twice now and I greatly love it.

As a bisexual person, I enjoy the mix of straight and gay sex, but also I’ve always felt bad for Alma specifically.

Like, catching her husband kissing another man and having to pretend everything’s fine for her children before the divorce?

Probably having this big idea of a married life with kids as a little girl just to have that dashed when you see your husband kiss another man?

Thats rough.

I feel like Lureen and Jack, it’s kinda obvious Jack does love her, but she’s more concerned with her family’s legacy than Jack. And as Jack puts it, “I wish I knew how to quit you.” With Ennis.

I feel like Jack’s the true “loser” (for lack of a better term) before his death, a wife who doesn’t really seem to love him, a man whom he loves and wants a life with but that man doesn’t want him back in the same way.

Ennis? I love Ennis. I love how he’s a realistic caricature of a closeted homosexual character. The fact his father showed him what happened to a queer person who tried to live as himself at 9? Horrifying. Then to go and die? Salt in the wound.

There’s probably more but yeah.
