Some of my lovely friends asked to show how I do my blending, so here is a very long tutorial! I will explain how to:

Blend GIFs with lots of movement

Blend three or more GIFs on one canvas

You will need:

Any version of Photoshop with a timeline

Basic-intermediate knowledge of GIF making (including cropping, how to use adjustment layers for color correction, applying layer masks, and placing multiple GIFs on one canvas)

Since the way I blend depends on the footage I’m able to work with, I often end up going in a different direction than I first planned. So this isn’t a strict step-by-step guide that can be applied to everything you make. These are just some tips!

HOW TO OBTAIN A 3D EFFECT

In this tutorial I’ll be using this picture (x)

So, open the picture with photoshop, color it and change the size if it’s too big. Then faltten it.

Now right click with the mouse and select duplicate layer, then do it again.

You should have 3 layers:

Now go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color and pick red (I’ve picked this type of red: e70404)

Do it again but this time pick blue (I’ve picked this type of blue: 0454d7)

Now drag one of the “background copy” layer over the RED color fill:

Change the Blending Mode of the two color fill to SCREEN.

Then select the Blue Color fill and the background copy you’ve moved, right click with the mouse and select Merge Layers. Do the same thing with the red color fill and the other background copy.

now change the blending mode of the two layers to DARKEN.

Then select the Move Tool (V) and select one color fill. Turn off the visibility of the other color fill. Move the VISIBLE color fill a little bit.

Do the same thing with the other color fill.
