Dear whoever is reading this, I understand how rough things are right now. I just want to let you know that things will get better, I promise. Keep holding on just a little bit longer. I know you feel like nobody really cares. You’re wrong, stop denying it. I care, otherwise I wouldn’t be saying this. You’re not alone, we may be miles away but we’re all going through the same things. Please keep holding on. Please.
You aren't going to hell for leaving a church that hurt you.
I walked away from the church at age 16.
In fact it wasn't just the church, it was the whole God shtick.
In my mind, any God who's hierarchies prioritised the 50 year old worship band leader over me, the 16 year old he was grooming, wasn't worth my worship. That's without mentioning the discrimination I faced because of being mixed race and from a single parent household, with the added ✨spice✨ of a diagnosed mental illness later on.
I've only just started to reconsider my stance on the God bit.
I may well never walk back into a traditional church setting.
The point is, you're not going to suffer hellfire and brimstone if you have to step away from going to church because it's hurting you.
You can't be spiritual in a place that crushes your spirit, you can't have faith when your foundations are being made to waver. It's okay to take a step back to look after you.
If you're looking for someone to talk to about any of this stuff, I'm more than willing to listen, though I'm but a grudging believer (and current undergrad student powered mostly by spite and caffeine).
Please check out @jspark3000, who's writing on faith, mental illness and what it's like to be a person of colour in a majority white church has brought me much comfort on bad days, @a-queer-seminarian, who's writing and resources helped a very freshly Uncloseted™ and scared me, and @fernlom, who's an all round solid dude and incredibly easy to talk to.
Take care of yourselves ❤

Stop telling yourself that the grass is greener on the other side, because it’s not. It is greener where you water it. So take control of your life and start watering your own pastures and grow your own greener grasses.
When you only see people as monsters or heroes, then there’s no room for change, growth, failure, and rehabilitation. Yes, there are monsters who deserve consequences and heroes who deserve accolades. But monsters live inside us, too. And heroes need help as much as you do.

always remember that love will always come back to u. in a different form, different person, different hobby, different touch. but in any way, love will always come back.
When the Bible says “do not lean on your own understanding,” the Bible is being serious. Your heart is deceitful, your emotions fluctuate, your understanding does not see the overall, big picture.
God never lies, God never changes, God knows all
as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.

“Oh! If God were to put salvation in my hands, I should be lost in ten minutes; but my salvation is in Christ’s hands.”
— Charles Spurgeon
