killjoys refer to the zones not only by the names but also with a direction. since the areas are really just large awkwardly-shaped circles, if you radio your gang and tell them “i’m in zone three,” they’ll be driving forever before they find you. that’s why most zonerunners know to add a “northwest” or “southeast” at the beginning. after all, the more detail you give, the quicker your crew can save you from being blasted by an exterminator.

the music plays and the radio hisses. the dj pauses. you see dracs ahead. the radio says "bad news from the zones..." and the music plays.

Dr Death-defying is telling a story on air. it is a story about you. it is a story that hasn't happened yet. you wonder if you could change the ending

Shoutout to the would-be killjoys. To the Batt City citizens who never made it out to the Zones—

The ones who stayed willingly because they couldn’t bear to be seperate from family, even family that would turn them into the authorities if they knew of their loved ones’ traitorous thoughts

The ones who physically couldn’t leave, those who know the odds of surviving in the Zones are even less than the odds of surviving in the City, for them, or even just in general

The ones who never got the chance to leave; you need a significant amount of luck to breach the City walls, and the Witch does not guide everyone’s steps

And the would-be killjoys who didn’t think to rebel until it was too late, the ones who only realized BLI’s evils in the moments before they died or were wiped, the would-be killjoys made blank slates.

The Witch’s influence is said to only reach within the Zones, that She can only help those with masks. But so many killjoys believe otherwise, so many killjoys hope there’s something out there for their fallen almost-comrades.

Tips for escaping and things to avoid

For my killjoy friends who have yet to escape Battery City, here is a list of some things that may help you, as well as some things to avoid.

1: Leave in the daytime. At night, BL/ind sends out patrol vans to ensure that everyone is asleep during curfew. These vans can detect even the slightest signs of you being awake, so it is too dangerous to leave during this time.

2: If you live with other people, no need to worry about them calling the police or looking for you. Their “happy pills” should suffice and they most likely won’t even notice your absence.

3: For those of you who are worried about having to look for your necessities out in the Zones, you can bring a backpack. Nothing too big, and nothing too heavy. You’re going to do a lot of moving around, and it’s not fun nor safe when you have to lug around a big sack full of stuff.

4: DO NOT bring any sort of electronic device. BL/ind can track the devices location and therefore would be able to find you and either kill you or take you in.

5: And last but not least, DO NOT forget to bring a weapon. As I mentioned in my previous post, trust me, you’re going to need it. If you don’t have anything effective, like a gun, a large knife could do until you find some other killjoys out there who can supply you one or information on where to get one.
