Okay everyone, my last post like this actually did (luckily) pretty well, yet this one’s just as important so let’s hope everyone sees this too!!
As someone who is disabled? This is very important, I’m not in America myself but it’s a very influential place and you have to understand what happens there? It affects other lawmakers and politicians and makes them bolder, if this happens? It would be a massive problem for everyone with a disability globally, not just that it would affect EVERYONE!
So here’s a few helpful photos from Candy courn which as always I’ll direct you to them, they have instagram and youtube!
Plus the added detail of how this will affect those who are trans
And then this helpful end card!
Yet I’m also going to add some information I’ve gotten myself to hopefully help y’all
How can you help if you live in Texas, Alaska, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana or South Dakota is listed, yet there’s also some information they missed so
1. Minors can contact their reps!
2. It is free of charge to contact reps however the normal rates may apply
3. You should call multiple times! Maybe even make it a daily thing, it’s recommended to call 5-10 times (I believe?) whenever there’s an update expressing why it’s a bad thing
4. The more calls the better! You should push family, friends or coworkers to call, tell them why it’s important and try your best to emphasise that it’s needed
5. Try put up posters explaining it and telling others how to help if you can, this will also help with the volume of calls which is what matters most.
6. Contact your states disability advocates, see what they recommend to do for helping.
7. Try organise protests if you’re capable of doing so or join one if you can! They will listen the more sound you make and it’s better to be loud so they’re forced to listen and protests are a very loud thing to state lawmakers.
How to help if you don’t live in those states?
1. You CAN contact reps even if you don’t live in that state! Push as hard as you can to call, it matters for volume.
2. Spread the word! Get it out to your friends, family and coworkers and also contact disability advocates in your state to see what you can do to help
3. Remember to keep an eye on your state, even if you’re in a blue state they can sneakily introduce laws like this! Push back the moment you see a law sneaking in as the more you make noise? The more they’ll be forced to listen
And of course, I’ll be mentioning some blogs to get this spread around, remember it’s okay to nicely dm me to be taken off the list if you don’t wanna be tagged
