Animated fan-art of @cubewatermelon‘s webcomic Kiwi Blitz!
This is Kiwi, Blitz’s mecha. It’s rather obviously themed after the real-life bird of the same name. Real kiwis are native to New Zealand and are small flightless birds with wings so tiny, they might as well not even be there! To my understanding, kiwis is also what people call New Zealanders, but I don’t know for sure since I don’t personally know any New Zealanders.
I took inspiration from @k-eke and the way he animates his wonderful pigeons, so I made this Kiwi really bouncy. Let’s hope Blitz isn’t being bounced around too much inside her Kiwi.
Lovely Lemon! Ah, another refreshing beverage, this time lemon flavored. The featured character is Outrageous Lemon from @cubewatermelon‘s webcomic Sleepless Domain. I’ve been drawing all of the members of Team Outrageous in the form of sponsored beverages themed after their team names (which are all fruit), and this is the last one! This has been challenging and fun, definitely a learning experience and a fun project I challenged myself with. It might be fanart and very true to the source material, but it felt like I still had a lot of creative input which was a lot of fun.
Unlike with the last one -Outrageous Lime- I didn’t do the entire label for the bottle for this illustration, just the front part that you see here. Making Outrageous Lime was fun, but I certainly don’t want to make the nutrition label and all of that stuff again. That part was a little tedious, and it’s not really necessary for this one, since you can appreciate the design without having to rotate the bottle.
Man, this is fun! I have to do more stuff like this :)
This one’s going up early; I haven’t finished the entire illustration I plan to make with this character - Outrageous Lemon from @cubewatermelon‘s webcomic Sleepless Domain. Still, I started the drawing with the character who’s totally deserving of a stand-alone illustration.
More mahou soft drinks! This time it’s Outrageous Lime from Team Outrageous of the webcomic Sleepless Domain by @cubewatermelon. Yup, I’m trying to do the whole team. What might the last team member’s drink be? Will it even BE a drink? Who knows?! Hopefully it won’t be long before I can provide those answers.
I didn’t do as much for the visual effects for the can as I did with Outrageous Apple’s juice pouch. Instead I worked on making the entire label that would go 360º around the can. This way, the last image can be applied to a 3d model of a can so it can be viewed from any angle! Unfortunately, I don’t know how to use 3D modeling software (yet), so if anyone that knows how to makes a 3D model of this can, please let me know!
Faces are hard. Proportions are hard. DRAWING is hard.
I wanted to make a caricature with this, but it never felt right, so I had to keep toning it down to more realistic proportions. This means I just have to practice more human anatomy and proportions.
A fairly random face sketch made with digital pencils and some smearing thereof. As I made it, I found I was kinda happy with it, so I colored it in the way you see now.
Faces are hard.
This is such a goofy looking character. I’ve not seen her name officially announced, but I understand it’s Outrageous Apple, from Team Outrageous of the webcomic Sleepless Domain by @cubewatermelon.
This character gave me the idea that she and her team would probably be sponsored by fruit juice and snack companies, so I got to work! I wasn’t sure at first that I could get that juice pouch to look right, but I think it came out pretty good!
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But it’s easier to just buy doctor repellent D:
This is part of a larger illustration where I just needed to have some apples, but I got carried away when making these! They ended up looking nicer than they had to for what I needed them. Well, that’s not really a bad thing though, is it?

He has to practice somehow.
Not gonna make something like this again anytime soon. I made it in Clip Studio Paint, which currently doesn’t have any support for OH I DUNNO copy-pasting frames, tweens, or plugins (non-Japanese version). The lack of those very essential features makes this sort of animation very tedious, and the program unfit for all but “traditional” style of animation.
... I still love this program though...
“Fun” fact: I the color palette is that of the visible spectrum of a normal map. In 3D computer graphics, normal maps are special textures that are overlaid on 3D models to fake the lighting of bumps and dents. It’s quite interesting to see how those work.
I watched this video and decided that I oughta take a character from a GCI movie and try to exaggerate the expression. So why not Lord Farquaad? He’s a funny character with very defined features that ought to be fun to blow out of proportion. And so I sketched it out, and as it turns out I was pretty happy with how it turned out, so I decided to ink it and color it. This is still a process that takes me longer than I’d like it to, but I am getting better with every illustration.
In the end, I think I could have probably exaggerated the expression even further, but that would have been pretty far out of my comfort zone when I’m already trying something new. Also, that crown, what a pain to make it :P

I totally still have artistic value left in me.
I wanted to recreate the scene from the start of Super Metroid where Samus encounters Ridley, having just stolen the metroid. At first I tried having a frontal view of just Ridley holding the metroid, but I couldn’t create the atmosphere I wanted with that, so I changed the entire perspective around to include Samus in her power suit, and show Ridley diagonally from behind. I tried SO HARD at making a decent background for this, but I kept messing up the perspective. I guess I need more practice, and also next time I need to start at least sketching a background before fleshing out the characters so much, so I have a better idea of how it all goes together. Anyway, I need to move on from this piece because I’ve been stuck on it for too long, so this version will be it for now.
Can Kirby eat anything and everything? Is there any way to stop him?
It’s been suggested that to stop the threat that is Kirby, you must place him in a jar while he is sleeping. Don’t forget his little hat though, he can’t sleep without it c:
Link from BoTW with full Phantom Ganon armor set and a Royal Guard’s Claymore. I just posed him on my Switch and... got to work!
I had fun making the background pattern for this. Because Ganondorf was originally Gerudo I used the Gerudo symbol that appears throughout TLoZ, and the sun-face that appears in OoT in the Spirit Temple (the Gerudo dungeon). The latter isn’t a very prominent image in Zelda, but it stuck with me for being kinda creepy.
Thanks to my friend Wooffull for his help and advice.
