This is a League of Legends blog I've never actually done the ranked thing, but well, here I am. Let's do this.

Going to play a normals match as Sona now so I can feel better about myself XD

Day: Whotf cares it already feels like I’ve been doing this so long.

So in the last couple days I 

had a win streak

played with some of the coolest people I’ve thus far experienced in this game

qualified for promos

And as of right now, my promos got ruined (first two games even) 

First game was my fault tbh. I didn’t know my matchups and ended up in a really shitty duo lane. And both of the other lanes were simultaneously crashing and burning so there wasnt really any saving it. We didn’t even get to surrender.

THE SECOND GAME THO

Nasus was bad. Like HELLA bad. But I was playing Mid lane Ahri and pretty well too. Anyways I make a point to be positive (at least in game) so I just tried to be supportive. But Bot lane insisted on being lil shits about it. For example once the enemy top laner  tp’d down bot and instantly got a double.

“WTF DUDE WHY DIDNT YOU MIA?”

which, first of all, he did. multiple times.

but secondly, you mean to tell me a teleport starts channeling DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU and you need a warning to know someone’s coming? are you still learning what the summoner spells do??? this went on and on, and despite pulling together and grabbing some objectives, I got sick of dealing with them. We surrendered.

Funnily enough the match I played immediately after that was fantastic, and I jumped back to 90 lp. in fact if my last match hadnt gone so horribly wrong, i’d be doing promos again right now.

Was playing Miss Fortune with a Sona against an Ezreal with a Morgana.

first ten minutes were absolutely golden, I was getting decent farm and ezreal and morg were basically evicted from their lane we bullied them out so effectively.

and then we got ganked. so i take 80 percent of the credit for that, i shouldve just backed off. my bad. But this sona. Oh dear. She was constantly autoing the wave so I couldn’t just farm and let it push back towards me, or even freeze it (and yea again i still shouldve backed off I’ve admitted that already). Whenever a fight broke out she basically just q’d, which is alright if you’ve got say 600 ping and you can’t do anything else. but that wasnt the case. in the entire game she only ulted once. I can count out four different times it wouldve either won us the fight or saved our lives. And the one time she did ult i was already dead, even though if she had done it on time, i wouldve had a double

Also she stole kills.

She later told me she was new to Sona. And let me tell you i have two problems with that. One, my personal policy (due to horrible experiences) I don’t play any champion in ranked until i have about a level 4 mastery. It depends on the champ, but I bet your ass if i was new to sona, I’m gonna know how to ult before I play her in ranked.Two, HOW THE FUCK WHO DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO PLAY SONA

YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO TARGET PEOPLE JUST FLOAT TOWARDS PEOPLE AND PRESS BUTTONS WHY

its actually part of the reason i don’t care for her much. its kind of demoralizing to have her in a lane beating your ass with what? a autotargeted q and some autoattacks??? God I’m already tilted just thinking about it. Anyways, I guess promos won’t be happening again this week. Sigh. One day God Rito will answer my prayers and I’ll be the worst player on my team for once. That’s literally my only wish. Well, that and a new Viktor skin. How am I going to get better at playing him if i can’t look pretty doing it?

Why is it when I ping no one pays attention, but if i forget or am otherwise occupied, I’m a terrible asshole. If I had warned you would you have done anything??? Because previous incidents have me convinced otherwise.

Bonus Rant: Patch Notes

Friendly reminder that they are a thing that exist and the fact that people don't read them makes me want to scream endlessly until I shrivel up and die. Reason I say this is because Illaoi has been out for what? Two months now? And people still have yet to get a fucking clue. IF YOU ARE A VESSEL YOU ARE SPAWNING TENTACLES EVERY TEN SECONDS UNLESS YOU KEEP MOVING (or recall between tentacle spawns, but it's a short window) AND KILL THREE OF THEM THEY WILL FUCKING WRECK YOU I've watched entirely too many people die because they stood around like a bump on a log while the tentacle AI play whack-a-noob. I'm just going to stop pinging careful and let you do you boo. But if I'M A VESSEL and you last hit the tentacles I'm trying frantically to kill. We're gonna have a fuckin problem. Well we would but there's already changes to that on the PBE. And see, part of me is relieved to know that the dumbass who can't go five seconds without last hitting something won't be the reason for me dying by tentacle anymore. But honestly that this change is necessary is just exhausting. WHY IS READING SO HARD? EH?? In fact that's not even a patch notes thing, are we not reading champion announcements anymore? Not watching champion spotlights? Fuckin heathens don't even realize what a blessing Phreak and his puns are. Anyways I left the title as patch notes cause that's really the root of the problem. This is January and I'm still getting people in my game who dont Skarner's crystal shrine things. ( I dont play Skarner, I don't have to know what they're called or even what they do, but I know if I capture them I'm benefiting my team and that's all that matters) If reading the patch notes that Riot puts up for our benefit every patch is too much for you fuckin subscribe to Blakinola or one of the other league youtubers that makes guides and shit. I swear you will be blessed. Ya'll clearly need some Tldr Patch Notes in ya life.

Day... eh.

We’ll call this day three, even though it’s been a little while.

I finished my placement matches. 8 and 2!!! I thought it was pretty impressive. One match in particular was a 4v5 that we came back and won and I was playing Ekko even! (Who I love but I’m pretty meh at him. I have lvl 5 mastery but believe me, my play with him leaves something to be desired. Seriously tho, I love him, his lore and aesthetic and everything ahh! moving on.)

So anyways I’m thinking this is hella great right? 

And then i got placed in bronze 4.

Which is like. WHAAAAT?? I was bronze 2 in the preseason, and 8 wins is like double the amount of wins I had then. How do they measure this thing?!?!

But anyways, this is a elo climb blog. So I guess I better start doing that shit. We’ll see.

In other news, I was playing some normals today to practice some stuff (csing mostly. also my Lux is getting pretty oppressive lol)

Anyways I ran into some wild noobs and now that I’m actually trying to improve my play I’m surprised at how much these people aggravate me.

Case one: Played a Veigar vs Karthus and Sion top lane was an absolute dumbass. Fed his laner (Vi), didn't leash jungler (so i fuckin had to), then proceeded to walk down to midlane, start farming, then turret dive full health veigar. at level 3. Troll or dumbass? You decide. Either way, I was 3/2 and Veigar was 5/3 by the time he finally fucked off, and he fucked ALL the way off, because he quit the match. 

Case two: practicing my cs as Cait because I love her, she’s got a new skin and I need to practice ADC anyways. And lulu supp which is meh at the best of times (to my experience anyways ) doesnt buy a support item, takes my farm (again, this is the whole reason i queued up like wow) and proceeds to deliberately take my kills. “Oh come on I need gold too Cait.” which is precisely why support items have a gold income sugar dumplin. And for the record, Lulu mid is viable. You couldve gone mid and done exactly as you did, and no one would be complaining.

And yeah you could make a case for “this is precisely why nobody likes teambuilder draft because off meta play is basically impossible now”

No its not. You can queue up as a five man team with your buddies and play all the bot lane mage Lulu you want. You could even just ask me before the game starts if i’m ok with that, because i’m a really chill person and in normals, i’ll usually say yes (not in this case, but usually). But if you’re going to do the off meta thing and not be considerate of your teammates who are usually pretty happy with the meta, you’re being a dick. And you don’t know any better.... the fuck rito what is this matchmaking.

And finally to the malphite jungle who chose to take malphite jungle for the first time during my very last placement match.

Day 2

I’m literally loading up a match right now so I’ll edit this as necessary.

So my need for more diversity in my champion pool is already showing itself, but that’s not surprising, but I’ve got a set number of champs i feel comfortable of taking to ranked, so thats gonna take some normals practice first.

Playing supp in ranked is even more hellish than it is in normals. To the Kalista i had last match: Why? Why would you do this? You’re not a good adc, but you chose fill and got that, so i understand how you got stuck with the role, but if you’re a trash adc, WHY PLAY KALISTA. I played her once, on free week, and i consider myself a passable adc, but her aa mechanics are ridiculous, and using her ult accurately takes talent. And it shows, because i by the end of the match i was just straight up taking your farm (you weren’t getting it anyways) so i could do my best to rush a rabadons and have SOMEONE in bot lane be relevant. And I was. I could chunk squishies like you don’t even know. But I’d rather do no damage and have an ADC who’s a godly terror. I’d also rather win.

Also if you’re THAT bad at any particular role, maaybe don’t pick fill. Just a suggestion.

Ooh, one more thing! If you are playing Jinx, and you use rockets to 

1.Kill Single Targets (and i mean they’re not running away, they’re not almost out of max range, they are dead in your face. Stop making excuses)

2Kill Turrets

I don’t like you. You probably smell like feet.

Because if i get one more Jinx who tries to use Rockets like they are regular old basic attacks (whose enemies always escape. And are probably laughing at her) I’m going on fucking strike. The end.

Finished another match. And I kind of just feel exhausted. Jungler needed leash for red. Top lane Jax doesn’t even twitch So mid lane (me) goes to leash. And now i’m already behind. Now to be fair I didnt lose lane. But the jungler was a waste. I pinged him repeatedly to back off instead of ganking a lane we couldn’t possibly win. (i had no mana, and Lux was a level above me, and two levels above him). He ganks anyways and can’t understand why that gank didnt work like. There’s a reason like five different youtubers have asked low elo players to stay away from Lee Sin. Them LCS Big Plays don’t happen in low elo unless you’ve been putting in serious hours. And this guy clearly hasn’t.

Day 1

Season hasn’t actually started yet of course but I’m taking advantage of my time off for MLK day to get a taste of some ranked games. (And adjust to the new draft) And wow. All I gotta say is I kinda get it now. I spend a ton of time on the boards or watching league youtubers and I’ve always heard about elo hell. And I honestly thought it was just a bunch of babies who didn’t want to work to get out of bronze 5.

And don’t get me wrong its still mostly a bunch of babies who don’t want to work to get out of bronze 5. But the atmosphere is for some reason so fucking different. People in this queue are so stressed and toxic and there’s no reaaon for it. Case in point (I posted the whole thing on the boards if you wanna see me really rant) I had so many trolls, including one guy who proceeded to call mid (remember this is teambuilder draft and thats a no-no), ban Ahri who I had put up as my pick intent and pick xerath then send the whole team nothing but winky faces while we debated who should dodge. Like??? Why? And you don’t have to explain what a troll is to me I promise but I rarely if ever saw that in normals. Believe me we had trolls, but half the time we just laughed our asses off at how we were gonna report this guy later and did our thing regardless, and either way it was RARE. Nobody trolls in normals because everyone’s just chilling, having a good time. And I get that Ranked can be tense, but this is still just a game, and we are all Bronze/Silver. Nobody here is about to have TSM slide in them DMs. Chill allllll the way out. And as for the trolls??? Where are your fucking mothers. Who hurt you as a child? Did someone fail to misdiagnose you for a sociopath or something because literally how do you take enjoyment from that? I need you to do me a favor and literally slap yourself. Knock your own stupid ass out. May you wake up with some sense and respect for other people’s time. Fuckin entitled little shits.

In other news never again will I first pick Lux until I know Zed has been banned XD See, I’m learning already.

Also things I’m adding to the list of bad habits to correct : 

 Playing far up in lane without proper wards 

 Not checking minimap before I attempt a roam (honestly so much time wasted because there’s no ganks to be had) 

 Not building reactively (I’m not great at this period but I’ve finally boarded the FQC hype train. It’s a miracle to behold when behind or low on farm and my cs is shit so….always XD) 

 Blaming the jungler (I don’t type negative things in chat like period it’s a personal thing but I tend to silently tilt quite often and its like “we’re all bronze the jungler is a dumbass just like you just let it go”) 

 Speaking of tilting: I turned off all chat and may I never be so foolish to reactivate that shit ever again, amen. Done for today!

Here's the Details.

So first things first, this blog is super-hella work in progress. I’m literally sitting on my bed on my phone writing this, cause that’s how randomly I got this idea. So here’s whats going on: My name’s Mari, I’m (so close to my birthday as of writing this we might as well say) 20 years old. I’m a full time student with a part time job and an all-of-the-time obsession with League of Legends.

The only problem is I kinda suck. There, I said it. But knowing the hours I’ve been putting in on this game in the last year and a half since this obsession started, I felt making this blog was justified. So this will be a sort of diary of sorts, as well as kind of a guide from a beginner’s perspective, because I hope that anyone who reads this can either teach me something, or learn for themselves.

So here’s my goals: I currently call myself a mid main, and with the new teambuilder system I also have a special preference for supp. My playstyle is usually very based around shutting down opponents and making leads oppressive. (Arguably that’s all anyone does this season, but I digress). So my goals are firstly, to improve those roles, and my champion pools in those roles. For example I’ve been playing Lux the entire time I’ve played league, but her weaknesses are brutal, especially with her counters, regardless of how strong she is this meta. Learning to play from behind would work wonders in these scenarios, but also having champions I can play reasonably well without those weaknesses would be better. Secondly, improve other roles. My weakest is Jungle by far, and i think it's mostly a decision making thing choosing when and where to go, what to do aNd how to do it is horrible for me, in almost any lane, but for Jungle it's even more necessary and just kind of tragic. Third, improve general mechanics like csing and orbwalking, even stuff like map awareness. I personally can tunnel very hard, and it's ridiculous how much trouble I get into, then I look back at my map, or the death recap during the death timer and I'm just like "goddamnit I could've avoided that. And finally, I want to be promoted. I'm new to the ranked system, so I won't promise anything too ridiculous, but at least for now I'm Bronze. Silver is totally doable, and if I make my focus on improving my gameplay, the promotions should come naturally. YoloQ here I come!
