Hi, um, I'd like to preface this by saying that I know a lot of students of actual history and linguistics look down on this, but.. I'm a BIG fan (and a student) of both that and Marvel comics and well.. I'm working on a female Thor cosplay and I wanted to add something more eh, ~substantial~ to it, namely the hammer inscription "Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor" in actual Old Norse and I was wondering if you'd care to transl. it for me, please?
Marvel’s version of the Norse pantheon is super fun. A pox on those who look down on you for liking it!I’m not 100% proficient in this language, yet, but I’ll give your translation my best thought. Others’ corrections/comments are welcome!Maðr gildr er haldar hamar þenna skal hafa afl Þórs
“A worthy person who holds this hammer shall have Thor’s power.” Spell the above out using the Elder Futhark and you should be all set!
