"Hey - give me some credit. I'm more looking for whoever is controlling the thermostat around here. It was mostly a joke anyways." He's got his hands on his hips. Well! "I'm just not used to the weather getting so hot so quickly. It's kind of crazy."

ʚїɞ - "I'd argue that it is an island, but I suppose that doesn't explain the vegetation and how cold it gets in the winter." Fern had spent most of her life traveling, but she'd never really been anywhere too balmy.

"I'd prefer it if spring or autumn lasted longer, though."

"It was like....in the 60s last week. Why is it so hot. Who authorized this. I want to speak with the guys in charge."

ʚїɞ - "Are you asking to speak to the manager? I believe that type of attitude is referred to as being a "Karen"? ...Not sure why, though."

ʚїɞ - "Rapi... I have no problems with watching you go for a run, but is jogging together really a "date idea"?" Fern was a mage. She was fit enough for that, but usually she could rely on flying for speed, she didn't need to sweat it on the ground like Stark did. That was to say that she wasn't very muscular and she didn't have much stamina. Plus she couldn't run in her dress, so she was still wearing shorts and a tanktop.

A combination of clothes you wouldn't often see her in. At least it was evening so there weren't many people in the park.

"I probably won't be able to keep up with you..." There was a chance Rapi had a plan. Like she wanted to take her somewhere with the jog, but Fern was so workout-adverse that she couldn't help but try and make excuses.

"I suppose that's true..." Still Rapi was here rather then anyone else that would have been far easier to talk with. So maybe she was a fool for not going to someone more a little "social". Or maybe this was the perfect individual for someone like her.

"R-Right here." Only then did she finally jump into action by pulling up her tablet of notes, plenty scrambled across the screen before finally enlarging one across the whole screen.

"It's somewhere around this line. At least that's what screams right in my face every time something does go wrong. So my guess is its in the general area..."

ʚїɞ - Fern's attention traveled to the tablet when it was pulled out, but her eyes lingered on the stranger's face for a maybe a little too long as she'd struggled to remove it. Something Fern herself didn't quite catch the significance of, even though she had been captivated by her for a moment.

"Hmm..." She stared down at the code once she pulled her eyes away from the woman. When she felt confident, she made direct eye contact with her. While pointing at the line that seemed like it was giving her trouble. "Unless you want your project to do a backflip, you should probably remove that line. Also, your code could be more organized. A tag isn't going to close properly sooner or later if you aren't more careful."

" Oh? So they do not need help...? "

That's a relief. It means there's no unknown student who he can't reach out there because he doesn't know their name. The situation still isn't ideal though - if he laptop doesn't get fixed it'll become a problem.

But hearing it can be fixed is a good start.

" ...yes. "

" Please show me! I'm unfamiliar with these ...viruses so I don't know much anything. "

Aside from the actual meaning of the word of course.

ʚїɞ - "Well, don't try to pour cough medicine in the exhaust vent or anything." Fern was beginning to think maybe his level or understanding when it came to modern technology was much more dire than she'd thought. And that impression had already been pretty poor, so the bar had effectively fallen onto the floor.

Almost like a vampire, she entered his space the moment that she was invited in, leaning over the table while avoiding unnecessary contact with him as she typed away. "To begin with, you're going to want to turn on your computer's natural protection. Antivirus, adblockers, that kind of thing. Do you uh... Click on a lot of windows that pop up when using the internet?"

ʚїɞ - "I babysat a cat once. I believe that means I am entitled to compensation on this Mother's Day, for I was temporarily that cat's mother. Cake will be fine."

ʚїɞ - "If throwing people into the hole is going to become a common occurrence, perhaps there's money to be made by offering to fly in and catch anyone for a fee? Of course, I could be bribed to not do that if the organizers pay me more."

LOCATION: ROUTE OUT OF TWILIGHT TUNDRA

ʚїɞ - "Monsters..." Fern's sigh was drowned out by the eerie groans and creeks of ice-covered skeletons that should by no means have been able to move. These elk and moose, Frozen Harts as they were supposedly called, had erupted out of a nearby wall of ice as she traveled out of the Twilight Tundra aboard a carriage. There was only the driver and one other passenger, and the driver didn't look up to fighting.

So, summoning her staff from thin air, Fern looked to the other passenger.

"I can probably take care of them myself, but are you able to protect the driver if I take a different vantage point?" The mage couldn't rule out that the possibility of there being more.

It did make the transition just that little bit harder for sure. But she wouldn't deny learning how to properly cook wasn't equally enjoyable either. Although her experience so far wasn't nearly as great as some people who came here with that knowledge. Still if Cooking Oil could do it to a certain extent she certainly could replicate it. It might just take longer then she was willing to admit...

"...A date?" While she wasn't wrong about meeting here was pure luck rather then anything planned the night had gone far better then Rapi had anticipated. At least far more then if Fern wasn't here.

"Yeah, I think it does. A really good one at that. The first date between you and I."

And hopefully more as time went on in this city.

"Are you enjoying our little date here?"

ʚїɞ - There wasn't as much suspense as Fern had thought there might be after she'd posed the question. Somehow she thought the more likely outcome would have been Rapi agonizing over an answer before letting her down, but the opposite occurred on both fronts. If she had been a more expressive woman, maybe she would have given more than a smile. But Rapi had spent enough time with her by that point that she probably realized how much that smile meant.

"Honestly, this is only the second time I've ever been on one. I'd say it's more personal than the first one I had." Stark cared too much about making things enjoyable for her that he'd forgotten to be himself. Rapi wasn't making that mistake. "But I think you're doing a little better, actually... You might have a slight advantage because we only just decided it was a date, though?"

She probably hadn't been looking for that much feedback.

Oh no.

Where are all the files going? There's so much happening on the screen that Masa isn't keeping up anymore but rather he's got his hands uselessly hovering in the air as the laptop does it's own thing. It's not even his own... He can't return it like this.

" I... am simply trying to make it normal again but..."

" I did not do anything! I swear! I received an e-mail that a lady, I assume a student, needed help so I clicked the link and all this transpired! "

He looks on the screen with concern.

" I cannot help them like this... "

ʚїɞ - "Normal? Um..." Based on his description, the culprit was pretty obvious. It was easy to forget that not everyone was savvy when it came to using the internet, especially when it came to protecting themselves from scams and... "It's probably malware. You likely downloaded a virus without realizing it." That would explain all the popups.

"I'm assuming you don't know how to fix it? Do you want me to show you how to run the antivirus? It doesn't look too serious, so that should remove it." Unless he downloaded a trojan, and Fern definitely hoped that wasn't the case.

"I-Is it strange?" From everyone she asked beforehand it seemed like the decision most people agreed was for the best. Otherwise Rapi would've still been sitting around how best to approach all of it.

"There's a piece of machinery I'm trying to get to work. A large hand for those who are struggling to make full use of their own ones. Only problem is despite making it myself the software used to help calibrate is, well, not exactly easy to get right."

One of these days she'd sit down in front of a computer and figure it all out herself. Unfortunately today is not that day...

"I don't need it 100% accurate off the bat. At least 90% so I can do tests myself."

ʚїɞ - "Strange because of my qualifications? Not necessarily. There are probably people that are easier to communicate with, though." Fern didn't utter those words in a self-depreciating way, she just simply recognized that it was the common opinion about her. It didn't really bother her at all, it was just the way things were whether she cared or not.

As it turned out, the request was more or less what she had expected it to be. "Ah." She didn't really care much about robotics or engineering, but her own studies were integral to the field. It wasn't uncommon for engineers to lean on the programmers to help with their problems.

"Show me the code." If anything, she would just treat it like a puzzle. But it sounded like she had coded herself into a corner and there was a fatal error somewhere in there that she hadn't caught.

ʚїɞ - "Professor... You wanted to see me?" In a way, this particular professor was Fern's worst possible match. She was extroverted and eccentric, while Fern was introverted in quiet. The fact that Queen wanted to see her didn't fill her with any excitement.

"Is it because of the last project I submitted? I know I took some personal liberties with the code, some of my peers didn't even seem to understand what I was doing. I can explain it if you need me to."

ʚїɞ - Fern didn't visit the Cotes campus very often. Sometimes she had to visit it to pick up books from the library that she couldn't find on the Fibonacci campus, and that was what had brought her there that day. That was when she saw a man fiddling with his laptop at one of the public tables. It was a little... embarrassing for a tech wiz like herself.

So embarrassing that even an introvert like her couldn't turn a blind eye.

"...What are you trying to do...?" Fern asked, leaning over to try and get a look at his screen. Was he a teacher?

"Fern right? Sorry to bother you. I was asking around and everyone told me you were the person to talk to about this."

Despite taking a run at it herself there were some things Rapi didn't quite completely grasp during her classes, even if many would argue that was impossible for a student like herself. Still the red head got about a dozen individuals saying if anyone could help her it'd be this CS Major herself. And given how engrossed she already was upon arriving at her dorm maybe they were telling the truth. Or maybe it was something else rather then her work...

"If you're free I promise I won't take too much of your time. Really I should probably have figured out a solution myself. But it's just not making too much sense...

ʚїɞ - With half of her laptop screen being coding lines she was working on, and the other half being a tips video for a new hero shooter she had gotten into, Fern hadn't even noticed the redhead that had been approaching her until she had already spoken up. Her eyes flickered from the screen to the woman only once before flicking back. "You're coming to me for advice? Strange..."

She knew the sort of reputation that she had. Her peers usually avoided her and she understood why. She wasn't exactly the best at socializing and tended to keep to herself. People usually only approached her when they wanted to use her, and that was doubly so when it was someone as pretty as this one.

"What is it? I'll make it short so you don't need to worry about spending too much time with me." She still wasn't looking at Rapi.
