Someone in my friend group suggested having a "hear me out" cake for halloween. This suggestion was enthusiastically welcomed. Another friend - who is a 90-year-old grandma inexplicably born in the mid-90s - asked what that is, as she is entirely unaware of any and all things that the Kids These Days are doing. Refusing to improve the situation, I immediately stated a hard "no other friends' parents" rule. Nobody in the group has parents that are fuckable but I needed to inflict the psychic damage.

I fully understand why describing a character of an unclear ethnic background as "ambiguously brown" is Not Good, but I started thinking about how the more you narrow it down, the funnier it gets to describe a character as "ambiguously" something.

"Ambiguously brown" - frankly that's just lazy, that could be anywhere. Just say "brown" if you really have to.

"Ambiguously African" - okay you have a vague guess of a continent

"Ambiguously Central Asian" - plausible to narrow down on sight if you're very familiar with people from around this region

"Ambiguously Baltic" - this mf is either Latvian or Lithuanian, and I am intrigued by the fact that your estimate is this precise but you still aren't confident enough in your assessment to guess which one

"Ambiguously Grevenan" - if you can tell greeks apart that closely, then frankly you're just flexing at this point

Idk who needs to hear this but being unwilling to follow orders, and being incapable of following instrucrions, are not the same thing. Your stupidity is not a virtue.

I want to unlearn english. Every day I wake up and get faced with news stories like "good news! they just made it illegal to grind endangered birds into bonemeal!" and in the comments someone is like "this is oversimplified, and only partially true: after decades of campaigning and like 3 of them left in the wild, we've gotten them to make it illegal to snatch specimens of this specific one species of super-endangered birds right out of the wild and throw them alive into the bonemeal grinder. They're still allowed to do that in every other condition except these specific parametres."

And someone else comments in, in outrage: "Ugh pretty fucking typical that they care about ANIMALS more when it's still 100% legal to do this same thing TO CHILDREN."

And some third person comments in "actually that is also illegal in almost every place in the world. The only countries where they have no law against throwing live children into bonemeal grinder is the US and Israel."

Just saw the odyssey in Imax, good stuff. But when they stab the cyclops in the eye, I think it makes what’s quite possibly the loudest sound ever invented. Some sort of elephant mixed with a tornado siren. And it’s set in a massive cave, so it reverberates for minutes. Loud!
