from a taylor fan's point of view, she's pretty much a democrat. she has said that she won't talk about her political views bc its a touchy subject for celebs to approach, doesn't want to encourage fans to follow her steps without thinking about their political views and it would be very touchy if it came from taylor.
Hello! Thanks for the info. This is kind of similar to Tom’s approach, actually. Although he did sneakily let us know his thoughts on Brexit (he wanted to remain).
His last tweet about Brexit was, IMO, quite disappointing. He has been a lot more committed and explicit in the past:
On comparing Farage to Trump: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tom-hiddleston-yodels-calls-james-877633
On Equality Voting: VoteMalcolm picture of 2014 - tweeted from a vacation spot, if I may add… I wanted to add the pic but I am on mobile
If that anon reflects Ms. Swift’s views on politics and the role of celebrity in politics, I’m afraid I could not possibly disagree more with her.
If there is ONE possibly constructive use of celebrity power is in the development of a political consciousness, fostering the discussions on important and consequential issues. It would be quite significant in her case, given the predominantly younger demographic of her followers.
Logically, Ms. Swift is free to use her celebrity power however she sees fit. However, as a Hiddleston fan, I hope, and expect, he continues his explicit commitment to issues that matter, and does not simply become… lame.
I personally agree about the role of politics, although in my reply I was talking very specifically in terms of which political party they may vote for (this was probably unclear, so that’s my fault entirely - sorry!).
Despite Tom saying in an interview a few years back ‘I’m not a member of the Conservative party’ he has actually declined to comment on who he voted for in the last GE. The most he said was that he admired Corbyn’s principles, or something. So I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s always been explicit - rather, he has been vocal about certain issues but has never pinned himself to a party banner. Maybe that is because he doesn’t want to lead people into voting for a party just because he said so? I don’t know. I did like that he urged people to talk to others before voting during the referendum, but I understand why you may have wanted more.
On the whole spectrum, I do sort of have sympathy for famous figures - just like many of us, they may feel unsure or worried about what to share and not share with regards to politics. There’s a lot of possibles - whilst it would be great for public figures to be vocal, it does seem like there is also resentment when actors etc get 'above their station’ with politics. So I can see why some are hesitant. From what I’ve seen, some see it as a duty to be political, whilst some are maybe unsure, worried about backlash, or think it’s unfair for their voice to be heard above others. In the UK voting is certainly still seen as a private matter so that also has an influence!
With anyone, though, I never like to assume too much - maybe in future they will become more comfortable in sharing their views. So whether it’s a famous singer or my neighbour, I hope everyone has an evolving relationship with social and political issues, and I hope in future we all feel more confident about discussing such issues openly and without worry - I think at this moment in time there is an emerging consciousness of using social media and face to face conversation much more openly when it comes to social issues, so let’s hope that continues :)
The Brexit vote was a divisive and painful issue for British voters. It's pretty clear Tom was a Remainer, but there is nothing he could have done to influence people to vote contrary. It was an intensely upsetting issue at the result of that vote, and for Tom, like many younger generation Britons it was likely incredibly depressing. I watched my husband become despondent at the result that night. In a single moment he said his country was no longer the place he knew and loved. It's very understandable why celebrities are hesitant to use 'influence' to become involved. People need to think for themselves and learn about issues. Think about what they are voting for. It's clear many in this vote did not.

Jordan reacting to truth.
Messy.
Here is the article that quote came from, which was before that ad came out, and the quote was related more to the Drake ad where she falls off the treadmill. All three of her Apple ads had cute moments that someone could say…oh you copied that, but they are also really universal things that lots of people do. This really feels like someone trying to capitalize on the last week. Especially when the first tweet about it was four days ago and the ad has been out for months. (No tweets from the person before 4 days ago about the ad).

Yeah, she’s a noted nutbar in the Hiddleston - I don’t want to even call her part of a fandom, because she’s really a full-on Hiddlestroll. She was incredibly nasty with Lizzie last year, too.
Unfortunately, Jordan got sucked in this time and responded. So she’s piling on because it suits her narrative.
It could become a problem if other media pick up on it (they haven’t yet). Let’s hope the don’t.
BTW, when I said messy - I meant this whole Twitter thing, in this case tweeting Tom’s director with an agenda to make Taylor look bad. This is the kind of drama absolutely nobody needs.
Oh it was that shit stirrer was it? Fair warning, but if there's mud to sling, she'll find it. No woman will ever be good enough for 'her Tom'. She's with the famewhoretom crew.

Has Tom really not left for SDCC yet? It's on Saturday and it's like a 10+ hour flight to the states. I know he can get by sometimes without being seen but with how the Australian paps have been I would think it would be hard for him to get by without being seen.
Something to consider is that WB/Legendary may be flying him out, so he might not fly commercial. He flew this way for Marvel when he was doing TDW promo.
He probably is flying commercial, though.
He might just be able to sneak into an airport without people noticing. He’s done it many times before - he obviously can get out of the hotel without being papped.
His PA is already in LA. He arrived last night.
I believe Tom is already stateside. He's just being very clever about it, so kudos to him if he can pull it off without a single pap.
Getting death threats for standing up for a mans right to privacy. This is the world we live in. Take a good look at it.
also name calling, belittling, insulting, threatening, and out right mocking somebody for trying to point to it is useless to insult a man you don’t know, just because he dates somebody you don’t approve of - first class fans.
When will people finally wake up to the fact that film stars who can open a movie is a concept that no longer exist in Hollywood? If you take a look at the box office number of the past couple of years you’ll realize that NO ONE in Hollywood can open a movie solely on their own anymore. I’m not even talking about Tom’s contemporaries like Fassbender and Cumberbatch. Even Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt (together in a movie) have had box office flops in the recent years. People have stopped going to movie because of who stars in them. The only sure fire way for a studio to make money off a film now is FRANCHISES! which is why we’re seeing all these sequels, prequels, and reboots.
Take a look at some of the biggest Flops of 2015, almost all of them had A-list stars in them.
Pan with Hugh Jackman was a flop.
Mortedcai with Johnny freaking Depp was a flop.
Aloha with Bradely Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Srone was a flop.
Serena with Bradely Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence was a flop.
By The Sea with Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie was a flop.
The Gunman with Sean Penn was a flop.
in 2014 Downey produced and starred in a little film called the Judge, which was also a huge box office disappointment.
If all these people cannot open a movie on their own, why on earth would any one expect Tom to be able to?
He just starred in one of the best received mini-series of the year, earning him an Emmy nomination along with 11 more for the series. And that’s just the Emmys. I have no doubt that he, and the show, will have a lot more of those when the BAFTA nominations are announced, and maybe even the Golden Globes.
And how come all those people doubting Tom’s career never mention Chris Hemsworth? almost all his movies aside from the Thor franchise have been Critical and box office failures. And he’s not doing interesting Indie and genre films like Tom. He’s doing huge big budget movie with big name directors, like Blackhat and In The Heart Of The Sea.
And has Tom ever had a bad review of a film mention his acting skills or performance as the bad part of the movie? No. No, he hasn’t. It’s almost always the ecaxt opposite. Even in the Thor movie, critics, fans and average movie goers are all in agreement that Loki has always been the best part about these movie.
Till this day, whenever somebody mentions the MCU and its problems with villains, the only one excluded is Loki. Do people really think that would have been the case if it wasn’t for Tom’s acting talent?
Do people really think Tom is going to be hurting for jobs anytime soon? Even with ISTL, he not only was singled as the best part of the movie by literally every single critic. He proved to all the studio execs out there that he will stand by the project and promote it as much as humanely possible with no snark or negativity or shifting the blame on the directors.
Sorry for the long rant but the naysayers always get on my nerves. Kindly, fuck off with your negativity. And if you don’t think Tom is a good or successful actor, STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM. Jesus, people, no one is forcing you to go see his movie!
Absolutely true. Can I add George Clooney in Hail, Caesar? And yes, why does NO ONE ever mention Hemsworth? And yet he gets huge paycheques. Chris Evans can’t open a movie outside the MCU. He has huge box office numbers, but two more MCU movies than Tom to count towards that.
