LATITUDE FESTIVAL - 20/07/14
The Fabulous Film Crew
Our hard working film crew are putting together three short films this weekend. I managed to grab a chat with 3rd year student and producer of the Leeds Met film crew, Liam Bentham, who talked me through each of their three film projects.

Interview as part of our Internship at Latitude Festival. Although my name isn't Liam... And I wasn't that chirpy at the time. Hard work but good results I think overall. And no sleep.
My current showreel.
I co-presented the end of year show in which we watch all the films in Hyde Park. "A Serious Boy" came runner up in the audience vote, we won best cinematography and I got the Director of the Year Award. It was just good to get such a positive response from the audience. Some great films that day, and a special shout out to my Director Of Photography Alex Watson.
Went to the sound studios in Headingley today and recorded the singing for our arrangement of "Jingle Bells" with our sound designer Ed Rousseau, which plays in the background during my graduation film "A Serious Boy". Toni, Elliot and Amy were our three singers and they did a great job, sounds really cool in the film.
"Isle of Dreams" shoot which I 1st AD'ed. This was a really hard shoot, we stayed in a caravan park in Cleethorpes for the second half of the shoot and got to film in the sea. Absolutely freezing, the huddle was actually to try and keep us warm. We were really battling the elements all week as well but I learned a heck of a lot on this shoot. Shot by Josh Paxton.
Was the First AD on Cecily, another graduation film straight after my own shoot. It was very tiring to say the least but a fun film to work on, directed by Mike Johnson and produced by Philippa Warlow. I'm at the back with a clipboard and a funky waistcoat.
Some screenshots and production photos for graduation film that I directed, "A Serious Boy". It's a dark comedy about a little boy who plans revenge against "Santa Clause" for not getting what he wanted the year before. Alex Watson was the cinematographer. Had loads of fun with the actors as well who were all lovely, Luke, Jo and our young Actor Cameron.
The set of the music video for What Animals Really Do at Night by the band Sweet Little Machine. Here I was a 2nd AD/Extra/General Runner. I was also in charge of health and safety, something I may have been a little over zealous with as at the end of the shoot I was called "Healthy and Safety Lee". Ironically, the only two accidents in the accident report sheet was me cutting my finger on a door and me being scratched by a cat.
Some stills from the advertisment I directed that we submitted for the Kodak Competition. We got to shoot on real film, which was pretty cool but hard as each take was so complicated we really didn't know what to expect when we get the footage back. Luckily nothing went wrong in the end.
Another stop motion film I helped produce, this was a Noir style black comedy animated by Adam Kinghorn and shot by Rhys Jones.
Some shots from the stop motion animation I helped produce, A Tongue Cut Sparrow animated and directed by Tracy Legwidge and shot by Rhys Jones. It was cool working with the little models, really intricate process though.
Some photos from the shoot for Virtual Reality, a three minute short film I directed, written by Ben Young and Anna Damaskova for the Royal Armories. Partly shot in Canal Mills in Leeds, for a section that was shot in first person using the camera mount we improvised, worn by our Director of Photography, Alex Evans.
