Happy new years! It's been a WHILE since I last posted, work got really busy with the Christmas rush and I just never had any free time between that and other things going on at the time so nothing got posted. I’m (hopefully) back now and planning to set up a better routine so I can stay consistent :) Anyways, here are 25 games releasing in 2025 that I am excited for! or I think look interesting, as I could not think of 25 games lmao.
This is more of a chill post with a little less info and research, just as I am still quite busy in the new year, and wanted an easier post to start off the year. I also want to keep some games a surprise for myself as I enjoy going into an experience blind.
I think everyone loved the Entitled Goose Game, so it's exciting to see the creators come out with something new! I have a very fond memory of playing the goose game co-op with my dad at Christmas, so I'm excited to see what this new co-op will bring, and I hope to spend it with friends to create more of those memories.
Get lost in the world as you explore it alongside friends, work together to find new ways of communication when you find yourself speechless!
This is the first game (of many) that I had to find in an “upcoming list”. What drew me to it was its art style, however the game play also looks fun, with lots of adventure and combat, and with a tag describing it as ‘story rich’ I’m bound to enjoy it.
In this action game you will face challenging and unique combat where you’ll have to learn enemy patterns and plan your attack in order to beat your opponent.
This game follows a narrative rooted in slavic folklore and legends, and it's what most drew my appeal to the game. It's an action RPG when you must overcome challenges and difficult combat to become a legendary hero.
Coffee talk tokyo is the third game in the coffee talk series. Although I have yet to have played the second game, I really enjoyed the first and am excited to see the series grow. It also means when I finally get around to playing the second, I will have more content to look forward to afterwards.
Coffee Talk is an interactive visual novel, where you brew drinks and listen to the stories of your customers.
I’m a bit of a sucker for platformers. Don’t get me wrong—I’m terrible at them, and they drive me crazy, but somehow, I always end up coming back. Constance caught my eye because its art style reminds me of Celeste. With its themes of mental health, I’m hoping it’ll pack an emotional punch. (I'm a sadist and love a good game that makes me cry.)
Constance is a 2D action-adventure platformer where you play as an artist armed with her paintbrush, trying to escape a decaying world shaped by her declining mental health.
I’ve not played any crafting games before, it's not that I don't think they're good, but more that they don’t have that huge of an appeal to me. However, Craftcraft caught my eye, and for once I'm quite interested in the game. It may be to do with the art style or fantasy theming, but I am excited to play this, and feel it would make the perfect cozy game to wind down from a hard day.
Deltarune chapters 3 and 4
I am SO excited for the next chapters of Deltarune! Toby Fox recently confirmed they would be dropping this year, and it's honestly made my 2025 already. I really enjoy his work, I had a great time in the past playing Undertale, and even more so with Deltarune, and I am excited to see where the story goes!
Only issue I have now is I'll most definitely want to replay the games beforehand, but I won’t want to overwrite my save haha.
Deltarune is a story rich RPG, where you explore a mysterious new world full of friends and enemies.
I'm a sucker for detective games and a sucker for pixel art style, so this game of course caught my eye. The game doesn’t look too difficult either, and it's incredibly colourful and bright being set in modern day India with some beautiful background scenes of architecture.
If you're a fan of cozy games, you've probably heard about Discounty. I’m especially excited for this game because it introduces a unique twist: real consequences for chasing profits. It’s rare to see games explore this dynamic, and I can’t wait to see what choices I can make to reverse the damage caused by my actions.
In Discounty, you’ll manage your own supermarket, salvaging a struggling shop and transforming it into a thriving supermarket empire. But not everyone in the local town is pleased with your success. As your empire grows, your choices will start to affect the community around you.
I’m really looking forward to what this game brings. It's an emotional adventure action RPG with psychological horror elements, where you play as a young boy lost in a dark mysterious world. The combat looks really interesting, it reminds me slightly of Undertale, but with more variety. I'm upset to see there is no exact date for this game yet, so I can’t count down the days for its release, and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it.
I used to play the Fable games when I was younger, with Fable 3 becoming a big favourite of mine, so I was ecstatic to see a new announcement for the series. I cannot wait for it to be released.
Fable is a fantasy action adventure RPG, where you explore the world around you and your choices often hold weight.
Fantasy Life i: the girl who steals time
I had Fantasy Life on the 3DS when I was a kid, and the little I played of it I really enjoyed. At that time it was a game I dreamed about having, where I could take up different jobs and gain different skills within them. I didn’t know a lot of games when I was younger so my options were limited and Fantasy Life really stood out to me when I heard about it.
Unfortunately I never got far in it, but I hope to try again with the new game coming out!
You’ll Embark on a great adventure to the past in this adventure RPG!
Although I have yet to play Ghost of Tsushima, I have seen clips and heard a lot of positive feedback about it. Because of this, I was happy to see Ghost of Yotei announced, and am excited to see what they improve upon from the original game. It also gives me a lot of satisfaction watching dudebros getting buthurt over a female lead, so that was also entertaining.
Ghost of Tsushima was an open world action adventure, so I can only assume Ghost of Yotei will follow the same formula.
Hello kitty island adventure
I cannot explain how disappointed I was when this game was only available for apple arcade, and I was waiting for so long praying it would come to the Switch, so I will be spending my paycheck on it the moment it releases.
Travel around the world and meet iconic characters from the sanrio franchise!
This is another game I'm really excited for, although I still haven’t played the second one yet. I was going to include it in my spooky games series but I never had the time. I really enjoyed the first little nightmares though, and I know a lot of people are excited to see what's done with the second.
You will have to solve puzzles and platforms to try and escape your fate in this adventure horror.
Lost records bloom and rage
I completely forgot about this game. I’m actually quite excited about it, I can remember seeing the announcement trailer and it looks quite good. It is by the same creators of life is strange, so I can imagine it has a lot of anticipation and expectations. I really hope it's a good game on release, although I have yet to have played it, Life is strange: Double exposure has not had the best feedback, and I'm hoping this game changes that.
Really excited for this game to come out, we’ve not had a Pokemon game in a while and i’m really really hoping the team has been given a good budget and time scale for this one, so they can produce a better quality game than some of the last. Pokemon X/Y were my favourite pokemon games, as they were the first games I really bonded with my pokemon and fell in love with, so i'm excited to see the city return. Once again I am still yet to play pokemon arceus, I’m actually currently playing through Brilliant Diamond so it may be a while before I get to it, but I am still equally as excited for this new game.
Explore the pokemon universe in an open world style game!
Professor Layton and the new world of steam
I LOVE LOVE the professor Layton games, I’m a sucker for a good puzzle game. I have been slowly collecting and playing through the games in order over the past few years, and have always been sad that they didn’t plan to make anymore going forward onto the switch (especially as Layton's Mystery Journey was quite bad). I’m pretty sure I started yelling during the direct when they teased the new game. I have been SO SO excited for it, and although not yet having finished all the previous games, I may have to throw my ordered playthrough out of the window once this one releases.
Professor Layton is back! Solve mysteries and puzzles in this upcoming puzzle adventure game.
I think I first saw this game in a Nintendo Direct? Nevertheless I am very excited for it. Rooster is a story-rich puzzle adventure that explores and celebrates ancient Chinese culture. The hand drawn art style is gorgeous, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Sea Fantasy is an RPG where you save the world from destruction by fishing. You’ll sail around the map, explore dungeons, craft, and most importantly, fish. I just thought the description of this game sounded interesting and wanted to check it out.
Things to ugly looks to be a psychological horror, mystery puzzle game. You will have to investigate the company's hidden past, and decide whether you protect the truth, or destroy it. I am a wimp when it comes to anything horror related, however I love dark mysteries and twists, and they often come together. I'm hoping by playing more games like this, I will finally come to enjoy them.
I’ve heard about this game a lot from different youtubers and their ‘upcoming cozy games’ lists. It looks like a short and sweet simple game, where you get to set up and manage your shop around different locations. It has a really pretty art style and looks like a great way to unwind after a stressful day.
One of the main reasons I'm excited for Wanderstop is due to it being the next game from the creators of Stanley Parable. Wanderstop is a tea shop management game, where you will grow and mix up different brews for travellers who pass through. The gameplay looks sweet, and I'm excited to see what the story holds.
Whisper of the house is an organising and decorating game, and looks perfect for fans of ‘unpacking’. You’ll take on various requests from townsfolk to help them move, organise, or clean their place. I really enjoyed unpacking and I'm looking forward to this game, as it sounds similar but also looks to have more elements and game play aspects to it.
When I played Fields of Mistra, I was captivated by the animal breeding aspect—it introduced gameplay I hadn’t really explored in other games before. So, when I heard about Wish Upon a Llama, a game entirely focused on raising and breeding animals, I was thrilled. I’m looking forward to diving into this unique element without having to balance it alongside other tasks.
