(Fun Fact: In an earlier version of The Nightjar, back when it was free and only available in the UK iTunes Store, there was an option in the settings to turn off the voiceover and try to make it out by yourself. Ahahahaa... Never going to try that again, nope.)

Faced with the woman that he rescued, Dickie found almost immediately why he had left her right after depositing her into the arms of safety, eager to be off-planet and exploring with his crew once more. He never could deal with people very well. Especially people heâd saved.
The Shepherd had saved more people, and Dickie had never spoken to any of them at all. Heâd done just as he had with the woman before him right now. Heâd dumped them off on Earth and sped off as quickly as he could.
"SoâŠ, erm," he began, a hand reaching up to scratch the back of his head. âHi."
To be honest, she hadn't expected to see him again. Hoped, yes, but with all the expanse of Space available for exploration, and all the widespread landing possibilities on Earth itself, she had known the chances were a bit... Low.
Of course, no matter how slim chances were, they were, still, chances, and even the lowest odds could come about on occasion. As it happened, this was one of those occasions.
She knew the voice immediately, and turned to the man who had spoken with an expression of surprise, and perhaps a hint of hesitant disbelief. "... Dickie?"
(SO I JUST LOGGED IN TO FIND OIT THAT THERE'S A DICKIE VON KOLDING RPER A DICKIE OMG, Hi, Hello!))
What I think It looks like in the game, The Nightjar (narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch). I threw down a few designs since my image varies with the different soundsâŠ

The passenger turned as she heard the man approaching, and started down the second hallway to meet him, lifting one hand in a waved greeting once close enough to see him. There probably wasnât enough power for the emergency lights to stay on for much longer, but they had them for the moment.
âTrouble with the enginesâŠâ she answered, adopting the same position once she came to a stop. â⊠and Iâm pretty sure the generator for the life support systemâs been knocked offline, somehow. The rest of the crew got out of here quick.â She shook her head a bit, muttering. âOf all the places to break down⊠Had to be The Black DogâŠâ
âWhat, they abandoned you? They left you on a ship with broken engines and an offline life support system. Nice of themâŠâ Obviously their first priority would have to be the life support. Nothing to be done about the engines if they froze to death.
âCan it be fixed? I mean, Iâm afraid I wonât be much help. Engines and things arenât my forte, but if you tell me what to do⊠Anyway, the Black Dog canât be that badâŠ. can it?â he asked tentatively.Â
The woman frowned slightly. "Yeah, I suppose so." The response was meant to seem calm, but actually she was a bit concerned. It wouldn't normally be like the rest of the crew to leave that suddenly, and it would've taken quite an event for Stieg not to at least delay them on her behalf. There would have been plenty of time to organize a proper evacuation before the ship fell, so why did they run?
She nodded, her train of thought breaking at the mention of the more urgent matter. "Yes, I think it can. I'm not sure about the engines, but the life support should be simple enough, I hope. My brother was the ship's mechanic, and I've watched him make repairs... It looked simple, at any rate." There was a pause, and a confused look at his next question. "I'm sure it's probably nice from a distance, but you don't really want to be this close to a collapsed star, unless you're on a research vessel... with working engines, that is."

Not the best time⊠great, he thought. But thatâs how it always was. Rory had almost expected something to be going wrong before heâd even stepped out of the TARDIS.
âRight⊠well-â Status update. The temperature is -2 degrees Centigrade and falling. âOkay, great,â he muttered. Then louder he said, âListen, is something wrong with the heater? Hang on- I think I -â Rory ran along another corridor, turned two corners to be in the adjacent  hall, and triumphantly said âAha!â Folding his arms for warmth, he said, âGood. Hate calling out like that. Hi. So, um, why isnât it the best time to be aboard? Something going on?â
The passenger turned as she heard the man approaching, and started down the second hallway to meet him, lifting one hand in a waved greeting once close enough to see him. There probably wasn't enough power for the emergency lights to stay on for much longer, but they had them for the moment.

Rory paused, sure heâd heard something, but the echoing of his own footsteps made it difficult to be sure. Ah- but there it was again. Definitely someone calling out. This ship, or whatever it was, was like a maze though and Rory couldnât be sure of where exactly the voice was coming from.
He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled out again as he started off down a corridor he picked at random. âHello! Yes - Iâm-â What - part of a visiting ship crew? Well, yes. Sort of. Here to save whoever was here from this ship before the unspeakable happened? Probably. That was more the Doctorâs area though. Maybe heâd just start with his name. âIâm called Rory. Which way are you?â
There was the voice again, clearer this time. Closer, perhaps? She quickened her steps as she approached the place where the corridors met. Maybe if they kept talking, she could figure out where the other was, provided that the ship's computer stopped prattling on about the temperature readings for a moment.
"Yes! Excellent. I just came from the starboard docking bay, 'n it sounds like you're a bit further back, closer to the stern." She was beginning to wish she'd studied the Nightjar's layout more closely. "Not sure if that helps."
Rory... Rory... Kira couldn't recall anyone in the crew by that name, but perhaps he had come over from one of the accompanying ships, The Nightowl or The Nightwatch, before the engines had begun cut out.
"I'm afraid it's not the best time to be aboard, Rory, but I must admit that I'm rather glad I'm not the only one here."
Open RP | (Alternate game-plot)
ââYou go on ahead, Rory,ââ he said in a mocking tone, making his way along the dimly lit corridor. ââWeâll catch-upâ - what was the hold-up, anyway. Donât see why I have to wander around this place alone.â The Doctor and Amy were still aboard the TARDIS and Rory had gone ahead. There had been a good reason for it - maybe heâd wanted to show them he wasnât afraid to go off on his own (not that that was really something he needed to prove - heâd done it before) or maybe heâd just been frustrated with Amy for holding them up because she couldnât find her mobile.
âOw- what- tripping over my own feet now.â He picked himself off the grated floor. In the semi-darkness like this heâd have to move more carefully. âAnd now Iâm talking to myself. BrilliantâŠâ
Down and to his left somewhere, Rory could hear the sound of some sort of engine - and it didnât sound good. He sighed. Well, he thought. This place canât be totally deserted. Itâs a ship. Shipâs have people.Â
âHas to be someone around here somewhere⊠Hello?â he called out. His voice echoed strangely. He thought for a moment he could hear something else, but maybe it was just the Doctor and Amy catching up. Or maybe it was the engine again.
The passenger glanced around searchingly as she followed the corridor farther away from the airlock. The escape pod had already been launched, so there was no reason for her to have stuck around, particularly with the temperature dropping the way it was. The computer's assurance of another's presence on board had been a comfort, but whoever it was could be anywhere, and The Nightjar was a rather large craft. For all she knew, the individual could be near the other airlock.
Then came a sound, a faint echo, that sounded different from the mechanical noises of the failing ship, almost more like a voice. She couldn't be sure if it had come from the person for whom she was searching- or even be certain where it was coming from, with the way the sound was bouncing about- but it was certainly worth a shot.
"Hello?" she called hopefully, as she peered down the darkened hallway. Hallways. There was a branch-off up ahead. "Is there anyone there?"
The Nightjar launches internationally on iOS
Previously available only in the UK, the multi award winning mobile game The Nightjar has finally become available internationally via iTunes. The sci-fi horror tinged video game sees the player navigating the corridors of a dying spaceship, relying purely on the verbal instructions fed to them by the mysterious Dickie, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. The image above shows Benedict recording his performance for the game in March 2011.
The original release of the game had more than 100,000 downloads, won FWA, Cannes Lions, D&AD, BIMA and Lovie awards, and was nominated for two BAFTA Games awards.
The game is available for purchase worldwide from iTunes for devices running iOS 5 upwards.
There are currently no plans for Android or Windows Phone releases.
Visit the Nightjar website and follow the game Twitter account for updates, especially as weâve been told an exclusive competition to win Nightjar posters signed by Benedict Cumberbatch is coming soon!

It was dark in the airlock, dark and cold, even more so now that The Nightjar's systems were rapidly powering down. The passenger urgently felt along the wall of the small space, searching until she found the keypad and started entering all the pass codes she knew. It was too late to catch the escape pod, for it had ejected a short while before, but the interior of the craft would be much better than the airlock. beep, beep, bip ::I'm sorry. I could not understand that. I think you said to 'Open the Airlock'?:: Kira muttered something under her breath as she pressed more keys, rolling her eyes at the overly polite- almost sweet- tone of the computerized voice. She didn't have time for this, not with a collapsed star looming just a few hours away from the failing craft. With quickly expiring patience, she switched her focus from the keys, to removing the panel entirely. ::Is that right? Are you sure that you want me to 'Open the Airlock'?:: She didn't even need to answer that, as the door had already started to slide open, revealing the dimly lit corridors of The Nightjar. The emergency lights were thankfully still lit along the bases of the walls. It wasn't much, but at least she could see. ::Status update; there are two complex life forms aboard the ship. Of which--:: The report was cut off by the loud retort of another engine stalling, but Kira was too excited by the number stated to really pay attention to that. With two people aboard, maybe, just maybe, there might a better chance of them getting off of this ship alive.
