Hello again|Cordelia & Lilah
Arms still folded, Cordeliaâs expression became indifferent at Lilahâs attempt at a humorous quip. She simply stood and stared back, not bothering to reply. At her next bite, Cordelia scoffed quietly and glanced away, releasing her entwined arms. âI think Iâm going to need a drink with the headache youâre inducing just being here.â Flicking her eyes momentarily down at the file Lilah tossed onto her coffee table, Cordeliaâs eyes flitted back up to her nemesisâ face, a stoic grimace masking her face once more as it waited for further explanation. Not even attempting to look at what was inside, Cordelia merely stepped forward, and replied calmly with her usual lilt of malice when speaking to someone not of friendly association. âEven so, one question.â â..What exactly makes you think Angel or I would ever consider something so laughable â let alone actually teaming up with you guys?â âI mean, arenât you guys are supposed to be evil and everything?â âWhy the hell do you need to come to us, to join forces against people just as villainous?â
Cordelia offered her own sarcastic smile, and let out a one syllable laugh mockingly. âPlease, if this a helping hand from Wolfram & Hart, hereâs betting the other one is behind its figurative back, with a knife in hand ready to stab us with it from behind.â âYou know, considering all weâve gone through,â Cordelia added derisively.
"Teaming up makes it sounds so..-" She made a face, "friendly. No, little girl, we're offering a deal." Lilah's smile never wavered as frustration flickered in and out of her tone. "A contract, in you may. In exchange for your information, we'll help you. Although our firm has something of a reputation for deception, we never fall back on our end of a deal." "Who do you think kept you happy in healthy before your unfortunate passing?" She quirked a brow in challenge to the shorter woman, her nemesis.Â
"That group could only dream of rising to our ranks." She gave a dry laugh at Cordelia's mention of HYDRA. "But I'll put it to simpler words so you'll understand what exactly you're stepping into," she canted her head in her usual condescending manner as she eyed the other woman with irritation. "HYDRA is bigger than you and we don't know anything about them. So consider this little visit a warning of what's to come." "The Senior Partners aren't particularly fans of 'fair fights' and we don't like new players to the game."
