Just made a playlist of [almost?] all of the female artists in my Spotify library. The playlist contains one song from each of the artists, with the genres across the 33 songs ranging from 90s style R&B, to indy pop, to contemporary R&B, to black metal. As my work grows, I’ve faced more talk around having a more ‘professional’, routine way of presenting my work; ‘uniformity is good, less personal posts, that’s how they notice you, hold on to your good stuff, work in silence…’ But the thing is, I’m a sharer of what I do and I will always place myself around my work - I’ve never been one to do as others do just because it’s a process that works. And I don’t worry about revealing my ‘good’ work. I don’t hold on. Every work I show means I can do better. The best is always yet to come.
