Content: Vampire au, 2450 words, takes place in the 70s, big sads get the umbrella for tears, and yes its a vampire during the day but its cloudy i promise lol
The morning, albeit late, hadn't lasted long enough. The boys had dragged themselves out of bed, showered, and cooked breakfast yawning against the sound of the radio to wake them up. Benji was always grateful to sleep in on Fridays, as tired as they both usually were.
Against every bone in his body that wanted to rest, Andre washed their dishes as a courtesy since he had the day off. The least he could do, knowing he was one lucky bastard for actually getting a Friday. At least Sunday wasn't too far away for Benji. The gesture didn't go unnoticed, and both men dried the dishes and put them away.
With thanks they parted ways to get ready for their days. Benji for work, and Andre for a day on the town with Darren. The redhead rummaged through his closet for his denim uniform and draped the jeans across the bed alongside a white patterned button up. Hangers clicked noisily as he searched for his jacket with no luck.
" Fuck."
He had done the laundry surely, but the more he thought the less he remembered having seen it. After giving it a thorough search he conceded it was lost.
As the clock neared noon Benji's hair was dry and he slumped on the couch wearing what he could find of his uniform reluctantly coming to terms with being awake.
" Do we need anything while I'm out?" Andre asked whilst grabbing his keys from the coffee table.
" I think we're almost out of laundry detergent. I can give you a few bucks before you go."
" No, I'll get it. We'll probably swing by Pathmark for a few things."
" Okay... I think I'm gonna leave earlier to stop at Lances, I think I left my jacket there."
" I'm sure that's exactly what you're going for."
" I can multitask." A cheeky smirk spread across his face confirming his friend's suspicions, they both knew it was true.
" Uh huh. I'll see you at the club. Have fun."
"You know it, be safe. Tell Darren I said hey."
" Tell Lance /I/ said hey. If you're not too busy."
With a final goodbye amongst their laughter Andre left.
Benji lounged on the couch a little longer, absently staring at the blank television screen they had not bothered to turn on. It was dangerously easy to close his eyes and doze but he couldn't. He would only grant himself half an hours rest before hauling himself up again to finish getting ready. Lastly grabbing his bag and heading out the door.
The elevator was unoccupied making for a quick descent to the ground floor. The building was less populated than usual, which in some ways was uncomfortable.. Not that a crowd was pleasant either but there could be something off-putting when it was the opposite of the norm. Most tenants were probably out for the weekend, if only he was afforded the luxury, but he found it hard to be disappointed these days when Lance was only a drive away.
Outside was nearly as calm apart from the sound of unseen cars in the distance. Squinting in the sun he saw his car across the lot, remembering he had parked underneath one of the decorative trees. He shuffled through his keys making his way there with a soft smirk crossing his lips thinking of the kisses he’d soon be giving his boyfriend. A blush rose into his cheeks, sometimes he questioned how he got to this point, it felt impossible, and yet here he was daydreaming.
He inserted the key and began to turn it when movement brought his vision up to the reflection of a man standing behind him in the drivers side window, startling him from his thoughts. The man acted first, cupping the back of his head and slamming Benjamin’s face into the door. Intense pressure overtook him and waved into a throbbing numbness. His eyes were clenched shut but he felt himself being pushed again, another impact against the door less hard than the first but that had been all it took. Hands were on his body lifting him as if he were weightless, shoving him inside his own car and over the seats into the passenger side. “Shut up and don't move.” broke through the ringing in his ears. He hadn't been aware of any noise he made and could only slump where he had been pushed. Numbness had given way into pain coursing through his head and down his neck. His body tensed tightly to cope with the throes somewhat recognizing his eyes were now open but plagued with black static blinding him.
The car started and began to move, the sunlight flashing by becoming more evident the more his vision cleared. It was uncertain how much time passed, the pain made it feel insufferably long. Breaths came easier when it ebbed into a throb and he could make out the shapes of buildings going by. His body trembled from the shock as he became more aware, feeling a layer of sweat sticking to his clothes. What happened? He lifted his hand to his forehead to inspect the damage, his skin tight with swelling he flinched away from. A wetness was left on his fingers he blurrily made out to be blood but he couldn't tell how much he had lost.
However, the presence beside him driving was all the reminder he needed, silent and looming. The man was a brunette, short hair, and wearing what appeared to be a dark jacket. Injuries became secondary to the very real threat mere feet away from him. He attempted to shift his weight to the side to create more distance, with some difficulty as low as he was slumped in the seat.
The drive only lasted a moment longer, the man making a wide right turn on a lower level terrain and parked under shadow. Judging by the view from the window it appeared to be an alleyway. This was his chance. Benjamin glanced towards his captor, gathering all his strength to sit up and grab the door handle- Without a second to spare the man clasped his hand against Benji’s mouth and thrust him back into the seat, firmly holding him in place by his jaw. Rage burned through the redhead at being restrained and bore his eyes into him. Finally he could see his full face, a pale man who's features would not be unpleasant had they not been contorted into being vicious.
“I met your /lover/ recently.” Words spoken revealed the fangs within and recognition flashed across Benji’s features. This was a vampire.. And through his ache’s he could piece together a time months ago Lance had mentioned an unwelcome visitor. This recognition brought a wicked smile to the other man’s lips as if he enjoyed watching it unfold.
“Yea, he told you...Hes a real piece of work.” The smirk turned more resentful, “ Really. Fucking. Stupid. You cant be much smarter. No one crosses me.” His voice jarred similarly to his appearance; a fair voice filled with venom wholly dissonant to the ears. Benji was not so easily intimidated and aware it might have been naivety, but he was determined. With a deep breath he opened his mouth and bit down hard on the man’s hand. The sharp taste of blood touched his tongue as the hold on him slacked, and he clamored for the door handle, lunging himself up into the open door.
A hand grabbed at his shirt and dragged him back down, prompting him to turn and land a heavy punch to the vampires nose. Just enough time to break away. Standing was not so easy after a blow to the head. He felt his balance sway and braced himself against the car while quickly moving his feet. The vampire was close behind, he could hear him scrambling from the car. One step, two, three-
He was slammed backwards onto the side of the car with a simple push. He struggled, hit, and squirmed under the confinement until he was secured down with a strength he couldn't compete with.
“ Why do you people always think you have a chance? You’re already dead, whether its me today or you're hit by a car tomorrow... you were never going to make it. Theres no fucking point.”
“Fuck you!!”
“If he didn't want you dead he should have turned you, its almost a mercy to kill you now.” He leaned in closer and lowered his voice in satisfaction. “ Quid pro qou, I get what I want, and you get to die before you're too old for him to fuck.”
Fury boiled over and Benji spat in the vampires eyes, evoking a jerk back of disgust but their strength did not falter. Instead, He was lifted and thrown into the concrete with an impossible force. His side struck first sending him into a roll, the ground scraping through his denim and skin. The air had been knocked from him, his mouth fell open but his lungs locked, refusing to expand as if the signal couldn’t reach them. He now understood how much Lance had been holding back with him, and the thought of this not being the worst crossed his mind. Breaths caught in his throat as he remembered how to breathe. His hand braced against the concrete, trying to steady himself as if he were still falling.
The vampire had no reason to act quickly, wiping his eyes thoroughly with confidence that the redhead was going nowhere.
Benji, however, refused to surrender. He gulped down a deep breath and pulled himself up onto his elbows first, then hands and knees. His eyes looked towards the alley opening knowing it was a slim chance, scanning around him for anything to use as a weapon. Only small gravel littered the ground, he would have to move, so he began to crawl. Footsteps approached him calmly from behind and his kidnapper looped his hand around Benji’s neck, pulling him up onto the very edge of his knees. He grabbed at the wrist to no avail, gagging at the pressure the more he was lifted nearly from the ground. The vampire opened his mouth and leaned in to where the human’s shirt was ripped, exposed shoulder ready for a bite. Benji did not have to see it to feel the encroaching closeness. With one last desperate act he bucked against the sensation only to be clutched tighter.
Teeth plunged into his flesh and grated against his collar bone with a searing white pain. Screams were cut short beneath the hand around his throat. With Lance it had always been a gentle, shared intimacy. This bite was violent... feral... excruciating. Lightheadedness from the lack of oxygen crept in almost as a relief, dulling his senses just enough. Heat built behind his eyes and traveled into his lips with tingles of suffocation..
Then, he was released.
Benjamin fell onto his stomach with little resistance, reserving all his strength to heave in air like a drowning man. Blood flow returned to his shoulder like needles that rivaled the fangs themselves, ushering in a wave of blood loss that sapped the tension from his muscles. The human lay cheek to concrete helpless to his need for breath and the heaviness setting in. There was a chance he could make it out, someone could walk by... but what if this was it. What if he never saw his family again...he couldn't do that to them. Lance would never forgive himself....The thought of Lance and his family living with the grief was too much to bear.
Please.. Don't..
The vampire towered over him sucking his teeth savoring every flavor and inhaling the scent of each new drop that fell. This was going to be delicious.

Consciousness had waned until he lost track of the many bites inflicted. “ ...what if he watches you die.” Benji had heard, the voice sounding far too gratified in his accomplishment.
He had went into shock and coldness. The redhead could register being lifted but could not grasp anything but darkness until he heard the familiar click of Lance’s front door. His eyes caught slivers of the apartment, and though his mind couldnt move as quickly as the senses, his body recognized the shape of the couch upon being laid on it.
“ He can let you die or try to turn you. I doubt he’ll favor either.” and the figure left with his surprise on display.
Benji. Laying where he and Lance had been together many times, now bruised and broken.
Tears had dried down his face intermingled in blood and dirt, pooling down his neck across puncture wounds. These were light, avoiding hitting an artery and ending it too soon. The others however, were merciless. Bites lined his shoulder, down his arms, ripped into him with every tooth to ensure the statement was made.
It seemed he was in unending silence. If he had heard the phone ringing it only perked a subconscious recognition than having truly heard it. Reality was slipping. He was cold, so cold, and the only string of thought he could follow was;
I’m sorry, I love you.
