biography

      the daughter of a multi-million dollar securty corporation’s ceo, leigh was never left wanting for anything in her childhood - her youth isn’t even anything she can complain about, unless it’s something fucked up by her own design. her mother left the scene when she was 13, inciting a brutal divorce from leigh’s father that required too many court dates and her own green ---because she’d been caught cheating with one of leigh’s father’s board members for the company. in the end, her mother won a small sum of money (nowhere near what her goal was), the board member relinquished his shares of the company, and they fucked off to the other side of the world.

      to date, leigh’s mother has tried to reach out approximately twice since she left the family: both times leigh hung up on her, effectively cutting her out of her life.

      her father did his best to ensure that leigh never felt unwanted or unwelcome, but business was always a prevalent roadblock in the relationship. to date, leigh holds no ill-will toward her father and keeps regular contact with him.

      was homeschooled until 14, then attended a private school from 14-18. she met her long-term boyfriend when she was 16 and the two were inseparable. leigh went through a rebellious phase that included partying in all forms. by the time they were 18 they’d gotten it all out of their system. her boyfriend went to college to pursue a degree in criminal justice, to become a police officer. leigh followed her love of art and attended college with a major in art history and restoration.

      at twenty-five leigh and her boyfriend split up: he wanted her to stop pursuing her interests and settle down with him, to be a stay-at-home mom and live off of her father’s wealth while he continued onto the police force (he quickly made detective and wanted to pursue it into becoming a US marshal). leigh disagreed, unready to have children (and disinterested at that point in her life) and the two broke off their 9 year relationship.

      leigh accomplished her master’s degree in art history, and also has a bachelor’s in studio art in regards to art restoration and conservation. initially she worked at a major seattle gallery before accepting a job in silver lake three years ago ---upheaving her life and leaving behind all of the bad taste and memories that came accompanied with the city she’d grown up.

      silver lake has served as a fresh start for her, where leigh can cultivate interpersonal relationships that don’t have any connection to her parents or ex boyfriend, and where she can pursue her own interests without the pressure of changing who she is to suit someone else’s happiness.

miscellaneous

      has a horse stabled and visits frequently to ride. owned horses back home as well, on her father’s property.

      enjoys interior design and will pursue or collect various things that can inhibit it. that being said: she was always a big fan of the sims (though more for decorating houses than actually playing with the sims themselves).

      would like a family some day, but not now or any time soon.

      has had a bad time connecting with anyone regarding relationships since she and her ex split ten years prior. has attempted various dating means (tinder, friends setting her up, etc) but all of them have ended miserably or amicably, with no interest on leigh’s behalf to pursue it further.

      does not like to use her father’s wealth, or even mention it, in any regard. her home on silverwood was earned by herself, and she doesn’t throw her father’s name at all.

      has a studio in her apartment where she restores art, another hobby of hers, though more work-oriented.

      has a massive tattoo on her right ribcage, but dresses and keeps her appearance so clean that people never assume she does. it’s from the end of her rebellious stage, and she keeps it touched up. it’s watercolor, and takes up most of her ribs, and can be seen here.

Sharpie in hand, Mister June was looking less than sunny about how his shift was shaping up. Fires were one thing, he knew how to deal with those, but being personable on command in an adult store wasn’t his strong suit and it was better suited to some of his colleagues. 

Still, he was gunning for a promotion, so he did what needs be to place himself in the running for it and to seem like a true team player – including the calendar and this. 

“Do you want me to sign that?”

      she could not believe that a client asked her to meet them here. leigh decided it had to be a joke ---there was no way that someone seriously wanted to meet in an adult store, during the fireman’s calendar signing. ---but here she was. hands crammed into her pockets, eyes turned downward and away from any of the items on display (or the firemen) with every hope in the world that her client would pop out of nowhere and collect her. but as time passed she became more aware that it was clearly done as a joke - the client wasn’t going to show, and she would certainly scratch them off of her list when she got back to the gallery.

      her eyes shifted to the person speaking, bright eyes slightly wider than usual, “ err --- it’s not ... i’m all set. ” she paused, then pressed her lips into a thin line, “ is this ... fun? are you ... enjoying yourself? ”

“Okay,” Veda huffed out, her breathing shallow and erratic. “Okay, wait. Hold on. I’m gonna drop it.” And she did. Without any more warning, Veda dropped her end of the vintage, impossibly heavy couch, the thud loud enough to worry her she’d cracked the sidewalk below them. “Okay,” she said again, nodding, using the back of her hand to wipe a drop of sweat off her forehead. “Sorry. Bad grip. Give me a second,” she groaned out, crouching back down to curl her hands under the couch, hoisting it up off the ground. As soon as it was lifted again, though, Veda caught sight of their next obstacle, and she halted. The couch went back down to the ground. 

Her eyes turned towards the cement stairs that led up to the second floor of the Oasis, where her apartment was, where her newly acquired couch was supposed to go. “Fuck,” she said, a hand landing on her hip. “How are we gonna get this up there?” She groaned. “I did not think this through.”

      her own palms were sweaty, slicked with effort and strain and leigh only imagined how ridiculous she looked lugging a vintage couch in her work clothes. she hadn’t expected to help out like this (though obviously she wasn’t opposed) and while her day had been easily spent in four inch heels it suddenly seemed painful. when veda dropped the couch leigh set her end down as well - a half second later and with much less loud of a bang to match, and rubbed those same palms down the front of her thighs, against the neat fabric of her dress slacks. she was definitely unprepared for this.

      “ i ... admittedly, usually, have a moving company help with this. does the building have a service elevator? because there’s no possible way it’s getting up the stairs like this. ” the couch was heavy. much heavier than leigh had anticipated and with a sigh she turned to peer at the building, imagining where a service elevator might be within.

      “ ... van gogh was arguably a successful artist because of his emotional state. there’s also arguments made that he didn’t cut off the entire ear, just a piece of it ... and that he made the entire story up to cover for his friend who accidentally severed it during an argument. what a real friend.

      “ the up side is that he’s dutch and i do like the dutch. the down side is if we’re taking away pieces of who he is, then he isn’t van gogh. if i don’t get to love him at his worst, i don’t deserve him at his best.       “ oh, and i’m naturally a blonde. ”

Alex hadn’t been expecting to see Leigh here tonight, or really ever outside of the gallery. But especially at Los Globos. They may not have socialized or interacted outside of his purchasing numerous pieces of art but she didn’t seem the sort to enjoy a party like this. He was only there because it was expected and he didn’t entirely mind them, but they weren’t his preference, especially when there was always so much to do. So many things to worry about. His family to protect. All those thoughts were constantly at the back of his mind, pinned to a board and unable to be removed or covered with a cloth for the time being. However, he’d think later how interesting it was that the moment she was there, those thoughts vanished into thin air, if only for the moment as he broke into a smile at her use of his name. 

The mob boss cast eyes downward for a polite moment of appreciation, unused to seeing her dressed up like this, before returning to her face, “you look great, Leigh – and don’t worry about it. To be expected. It’d be more of a shame to lose your drink than my suit. Unless you fancy standing in another hour long line by the looks of it.” He jerked his chin in the direction of the bar that was swarming with people. “It’s better now, I was about to have to schmooze with some people who can’t put work away for a night, something I definitely wouldn’t know anything about,” he joked good-naturedly, subtly nodding in the direction of two young men who seemed to be eagerly waiting an opening to speak with him. He’d watched them almost approach several times tonight before getting cut off or accosted themselves. “But, now that I’ve been lucky enough to run into you, well, I think they’ll get the idea. Do you want to go somewhere slightly less crowded?” What was the harm in asking? The VIP lounge would certainly be full of people but less than down here, or he could only hope.

      he was always polite when he came in, something leigh appreciated much more than she could let on. her line of work invited a certain type of personality that could come across as overbearing at best (people with a lot of money, who chose to spend that money on a luxury, tended to behave in a certain way) but not alex. not alex, despite the few times he’d stopped by and dropped a couple thousand here or there on art leigh had a sneaking suspicion he wasn’t really that interested in, but she kept the thought to herself with a private smile. it was hard to be less formal with him, especially when he conducted himself in a way that suggested he was used to the formalities, or at the very least the respect. and leigh didn’t want to come across as disrespectful, but still she recalled the soft way he had corrected her upon their first meeting. mr. pavlov was his father ---and so it went.

      “ just the same. i’d feel awful if i was to blame for spilling on that suit, which i imagine is a bit more ... expensive than the drink. at the very least you’d have to let me pay for the dry-cleaning. ” half in jest, the corners of her lips remained upturned in a smile that met and shined in her eyes. while the club was packed like a tin of sardines she was somewhat thankful for it ---at least this way there was an excuse to stand closer to him, so he could hear her over the din of the music. “ oh no? you don’t know anything about working yourself to the bone? ” her tone suggested gentle chiding, sarcasm in the slightest of forms, “ well, if you need a tutor on the subject matter i’d be happy to volunteer myself. ” at the suggestion of perhaps moving somewhere less crowded leigh looked around, let her gaze trace over the amount of shoulders and heads that seemed to occupy the space around them, then turned back to alex, “ don’t want to be drowned in a sea of partygoers? ... i’m not opposed to going somewhere a bit more quiet. ”
