my anxiety when confronted with any kind of social situation:
why does every fantasy game box their fantasy races into
- tall snooty
- short crafty
- big dumb
- spooky sneaky
- normal boring
please make new fantasy races like a litigious armchair or an elephant construction worker or something, our wish fulfillment possibility space has been growing the same size at a rapidly stagnant pace since the tolkien era
unearthed a haunted pizza roll today, happy halloween everyone you never know when the scariest moments will hit you
rats are video games if you think about it
Deadlock is cool but I wish you didn't have to aim good to play it.
I'm still waiting for a third or first person multiplayer shooter where aiming is at borderline Metroid Prime levels of handholding, putting strategy and positioning at top priority. This may sound like the dumbest wish ever but there must be other broken people who like 99% of the hero shooter jam yet weren't forged in the fires of Quake or Qounter Strike.
It's an untapped market I'm telling you, any AAAA game producers reading this I'm telling you: You could make hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars by throwing your esports dreams away and just making a fun shooter with baby mode aiming.

this is it, I've hit my peak I can quit right now
If you're a writer you're supposed to write a lot of bullshit. It's part of the gig. You have to write a lot of absolute garbage in order to get to the good bits. Every once in a while you'll be like "Oh, I wish I hadn't wasted all that time writing bullshit," but that's dumb. That's exactly the same as an Olympic runner being like "Oh, I wish I hadn't wasted all that time running all those practice laps"
the Xbox partner showcase today showed a lot of games that look as expensive as they are derivative, my condolences to the devs who got forced to work on these doomed projects
it's like watching thousands of talented artists and programmers get in line for the guillotine
at least when we get a bad sony or nintendo showcase we can assume those games will, at worst, silently fade into the background noise
a microsoft show on the other hand has the grim air of a hunger games or a squids game, every developer is performing at gunpoint here and it's truly thrilling to see
I think it would be fun if the next sony state of play had a live chat engagement rating and every 15 minutes instantly cancelled the game with the lowest engagement of its time slot, it would certainly make them a lot less boring if they would cut out the middleman and dangle the human lives at stake right in front of our greasy little faces
here's to you microsoft, maybe next quarter you can buy ubisoft and save everyone's jobs so you can fire them yourself
Pumpkin Hill Zone is the most complete representation of Halloween as an aesthetic in any medium and I will fight any media scholar on that.
Everything from the visuals to the music to the gameplay, which is just a big scavenger hunt in a floating pumpkin patch , is the peak of Halloween as it can possibly expressed in a piece of art.
Please go out to EB Games and buy yourself a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 on Gamecube as soon as you can to save halloween.
i like video games !
