Discovered the worst habit I picked up during pandemic is sneezing without reflexively covering my mouth. There was always a mask over my face so I just stopped doing it. How does one instill other fear of sneeze back into oneself?
I explained the concept of "blorbo from my shows" to my 71 year old immigrant grandfather because I referenced it in passing and I thought nothing of it, until today when he said "I think I'll watch peaky blinders tonight and see my blorbo from my shows" referring, of course, to Cillian Murphy playing Tommy Shelby
English isn't his first language so he's not super in touch with modern slang, so I've been accidentally teaching him to talk like a tumblr user. His favorite thing to say lately is "me when I'm a little hater" when he's like talking shit about the neighbor's son
I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”
So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid

I think TADC movie screening will save the movie industry.
I invited a coworker and his son to watch the TADC finale on opening night and ended up helping to babysit five 11 year olds, his son's friends. I accepted because going to the movies with more people is more fun.
Of course I expected the audience to be annoying and they were. Everybody was very loud and yelled a lot of inappropriate things. I was prepared for that. What I wasn't prepared for was the epiphany watching the 11 year old next to me. She laughed, yelled, cried, and sang along with the rest of the audience. At the most intense part of the story, she covered her face and started hyperventilating and said, "I can't believe this is happening."
At that moment, I saw myself at the age of 11 at the premier of the Goblet of Fire. Yes, we no longer speak of this franchise, but that day is still special to me. It was the last time I was invested in a storied franchise, was promised a good movie, and watched a fucking good movie with an equally excited audience that dressed up for the occasion.
Movie franchises have been so ass lately that my best theater memory was 21 years ago. Because of the declining theater industry and the pandemic, the screening for TADC was literally the best movie screening in these 11 year olds' lives, safely assuming they didn't have a theater experience before the age of 5 when the pandemic started.
The TADC finale screening is so good, it will encourage these children to continue going to the movies, the same way the HP series did to me. On top of all this, they proved to Hollywood that content like this makes money. This is how I think TADC saves the movie industry.

I want to add that between Goblet of Fire and now, I have seen good and even better movies than the HP franchise. It's just the theater hype has never been on par with that screening. It's a combination of fandom, hype, a full theater, and my adolescence that made that memory so powerful. I probably would've had a more recent memory if I watched any of the MCU in theaters, but I didn't. Seeing Infinity War on opening day would've changed my brain chemistry for sure.
In recent years, I went to all the Sonic and FNaF movies with near-sold out screenings. The audiences were hyped and passionate, but controversially, I never expected them to be good, and most of those movies are... bad. The audience shouting memes actually improved the theater experience for these movies.
Meanwhile, I think Wicked 1 and 2 were the best movies made this decade, but the audience was lacking. I even took the day off to drive to an IMAX theater for Wicked 2's opening day and my screening only had 12 people. Seeing a movie with an audience is so important to my theater enjoyment.
I have also seen 2 movies where I was the only person in the room. Kinda spooky but kinda cool tbh. They were was Dreamwork's Abominable and the DnD movie.
