it may seem like comics have slowed down, but I've genuinely never been more active on making things. I'm working on a handful of more ambitious comics right now, so it's taking a bit longer to get them out. right now, I've got about 10 potential comics in various stages, which makes me so happy to be able to do

Here's Misfits comic #19!

New characters keep popping up in these, and I'll take accountability for not doing proper introductions in some form. But I've been working on a simple way to do that for it's own post, hoping I'll work that out sooner than later. Anyway, this is Ash; she's from the UK. Obviously she has more going on than that, but putting it here is kinda silly when, again, I'm planning that character post for relatively soon.

No panel for panel sketches for this one (they're remarkably similar to the final product), but I'm including a few alternate takes we did both Alex and I thought were trying too hard to be overly wacky. Which I know sounds silly for a comic, but I dunno, neither of us were really feeling it.

MISFITS Comic #16: Fright Nights - Attempt #1

Technically speaking, this is a scheduled post, so I'm talking to you from the PAST! Oooohhhh spoooookkyyyyy. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the first in a set of three comics, the first of which all tie loosely together! The next will be out a week from now!

The sketches are incredibly solid from the start so little changed. I wasn't even planning to include them initially, but there is one thing of note - my creative partner (not on Tumblr) made note that Alex's hair from the front looked a bit bizarre, himself seeing more like the trick that is Mickey Mouse's ears - same silhouette from 3/4 and front facing. I was inclined to agree, so that changed.

After a month-long hiatus, here's Misfits comic #11! Starlight City has itself a mafia, apparently.

This punchline came to me in a dream, and my friend, Alex (who I've been making these comics with together) liked it so much that it became a full comic.

This one was interesting sketch-wise, because panel 3 doesn't exist as a sketch - I could so clearly see it in my mind that I just... went in for the final character drawings. So you're only getting two sketches! You can also see how much the wording changed throughout. I'm also including an alternate panel one with a completely different setup.

Just realized I hadn't yet posted this guy on here, everyone say hello to replica Boober!

I'm really happy with how this build turned out, though I am hoping to one day come back to him and tweak some things for accuracy. Going forward I’ll be balancing out the replicas with more original concept puppets, that way I can practice going through the design process from start to finish. I had a really wonderful time bringing him with me to both dragoncon and the fraggles forever panel at the center for puppetry arts in Atlanta!

Somewhat related to all that, I’d like to note that while I’ll still be posting here every once in a while, I’m shifting my focus towards my instagram, just due to the fact that I’ve really come to love the puppetry community on there.
