Happy Lunar New Year! 🐍🏮🎆

To celebrate the year of the snake, I wanted to combine the snake with my other favorite scaled animal, the goldfish! Growing up as little kid in China, I was always fascinated by the goldfish and koi ponds that are scattered in every park and apartment complex. I would stare at them for hours, mesmerized by their shiny scales and graceful movements. Hopefully I was able to capture that in this painting :D

An old video of me testing out the paper dragon prototype. I love how the light scatters through the scales and onto the background. Then life got busy and I kind of forgot about this project 😅

I just ordered a new laser cutter thanks to everyone's recommendations (after my old one broke) and aim to complete this in the future like my koi lanterns :D
