THE NEW PRODUCT
Last time we were left with an okay gold and a not chrome purple...but lets put this stuff on my nails.
But first. The thing i was waiting all this time for.
A GEL. PEEL OFF BASE COAT. ᵒʰʰʰ ʸᵉᵃʰ
a wonderful invention for sure. Now is the time to no longer wait..even for your peel off to dry. I was SO excited that I had found this, not only because it was gel,but it was also hella cheap. And I am cheap. (Currently 3.99 CAD on amazon ᵃⁿᵈ ¹.⁵⁹ ˢʰᶦᵖᵖᶦⁿᵍ)
I haven't worked with too many gels so its hard to compare and contrast. It seems gels formulas are way thicker than a regular polish but still goes on as smooth.
The baking process however was a bit heated. No literally heated, this stuff made my nails burn up half the time.
I did some research on the matter and its the curing step that actually does it. When the uv light is 'curing' its heating up the gel. But its usually not feelable, but if too much is applied then the heat will build quickly. So I need to experiment more so it might be human error. It’s actually quite difficult to get a thin coat of the stuff, no matter how I brush the tip on the bottle there’s still a lot on the brush.
BACK TO POWDERS
For my background colours i used sinfulcolors black on black and essies marshmellow(fuck this polish its so milky)
The results...were about the same as when i did it on tape haha. In the purple I notice some bluer sparkles but to me it still didn't look like chrome. Maybe if I added more coats but heck that.
The gold still looks way better on black. I went ahead and did some sick stamping(i just got into it. So much fun).
CONCLUSION
Whether its my application, the powders, or anythin in between; I don't think ill be doing much powder work. I much prefer simple painting my nails gold and can only see myself using powders for hard to get polishes like holo/chrome/iridescent.
As for the peel off. Its a mixed bag too. It goes on great, but i don’t know how thin to put it on so it doesn't burn. The one test I did and it only lasted a day or so(image of my peelies below ;) ). But I am going to try again with the gold and purple mani
