Looks like Little Timothy Owen will have mommy’s eyes and daddy’s hair.
Oh, Auntie Zona! Little Timothy is sooo cute!
Thank you, Lenabug… he is getting quite the personality.
Yeah? It looks like he posed for the picture! My mom says when I was a baby that I was like a sour patch kid. I was really sassy and always making messes but at the same time all I did was cuddle!
I think he sort of was. For just a little over a month old, he’s a little character. He will smile and coo when we talk to him.
Oh! I have to come visit again soon! Does he like stuffed animals because I have a bunch!

“Oh, I remember middle school.” I nod. “Very complicated. I was a nerd. But hey, I’m top dog now aren’t I?” I chuckle. “What’s ypur favorite slushie flavor?”
“My best friends, Toby and Christine, and I are the smallest in our grade level and we’re nerds. It’s okay though because we’re 8th graders,” I shrug, “and a guy from the basketball asked me out…”
“I like the blue ones; um, blue raspberry,” I point up at the picture, “Sometimes I like to get the white cherry mixed in with it though.”

“Whatever you’d like. We can go get a slushee.” I nod. “I’m supposed to meet your Mom later, but we’ve still got plenty of time to get your order and a little tour.”
“Awesome. While we’re here, I can show you the best places to eat in the cafeteria. You’re probably going to spend quite a lot of time here,” I say as we get up from our table, “Doctors come here to eat, drink their coffees and even hold meetings with their coworkers… It’s kind of like at school.” I shrug then smiling leading her over to the slushies.
“Ah… so there is a popular table? And a nerd table?” I ask with a smile, as I follow her. I look around at the bustling room.
“Actually now that I think about it, yeah,” I start to explain as we continue to walk through the cafeteria, “The attendings are like the 8th graders. They’re automatically cool no matter what because they’re at the top of the school. You’re an attending so you’re off to a good start… Interns are 6th graders so they’re only cool if they’re like super good or have name status like a family member who works or worked here. But then, it gets worse, in those classes you have you’re cool kids like Neuro or Cardio…" I pause at the line for the slushies, “You can probably see why middle school is so complicated.”

“Well… I’m lost. I’ve been trying to figure out the map your mom emailed me, and I can’t. Is there a good way to navigate this hospital?” I ask. “You seem like an expert.”
“Oh, I can totally help with that,” I say sitting down beside her. She has the map laid out on the table and I start to point out the important areas, “All you really need to know is how to get from the ER to your office and maybe now and again the OR.” I close the map and I smile up to her, “Actually, would it be better if I gave you a tour? I know a bunch of shortcuts to help you maneuver around here faster and great hiding places for tag.”
I chuckle when she offers and nod. “That would be nice. Do you want to get something to drink for our tour? My treat.” I offer. “I know my office is on the 5th floor, and the ER is downstairs. But I keep getting turned around.” I shrug.
“Yeah cool, I was going to get some hot cocoa from the cart but now I’m kind feeling a slushee,” I think aloud, “I think they sell them over by the burgers and stuff… I also think they’re may be a line so I guess I can just get cocoa.” I shrug. I wonder what Dylan is doing right now. I should call her and tell her Aunt Violet is here.

I stand at the coffee cart, waiting for my order. I look over the map of the hospital on my tablet. Today I’m supposed to be speaking to a group, followed by a brunch meeting with Addison, who is apparently Chief here, and then somehow finish getting my office set up. “Violet?” The cashier calls out, placing a cup with my name in it on the counter. “That’s me.” I smile, grabbing it and thanking her. I take a quick sip before finding a seat close by. I could page Addison or Amelia for a tour, but why bother them?
It’s pretty busy at the hospital today. I’ve been putting in double since Aunt Arizona had her baby. They needed extra help so being the awesome surgeon I am, I’m here to lend a hand. After rounds, I decide to head down to the cafeteria and get a cookie. I wonder what my moms are doing… Maybe I’ll grab some hot cocoa for them and go by their offices.
Heading over to the cart, what I didn’t expect to find was my aunt Vi sipping from her cup. I skip the coffee cart and run straight over to my aunt. “Auntie Vi?” I ask as she looks up from her drink, “Auntie Vi!” I squeal hugging her, “Mommy said you’d be coming to town but I didn’t know it would be this soon.”
I’m jarred from my thoughts suddenly as a squeal is heard, then suddenly I’m hugged. “Lena! Hey, sweetie! Look at you, all grown up.” I smile, hugging her in return. “Yeah, I thought I’d get a head start on things, but so far… nope.”
"You like my lab coat?" I ask as I give her a small twirl. It's engraved with my name and everything. It's been my favorite birthday gift in the past few years other than the stethoscope and the other medical equipment Aunt Val got me last year. "Well, I just finished rounds so I'm free. I was going to get my moms some hot cocoa and go see what they were up to but if you need some company, I could stick around."

Boy Meets World | Auntie Arizona, Dylan and Lena
Lena calls for our attention and we both look. “He does.” I smile, “he feels safe with you, kiddo. Think maybe your sister could hold him for a bit?” I ask.
"Yeah, stop hogging the baby," Dylan jokes as she comes to sit next to me. She tickles little Tim before I hand him off to her. She smiles softly at him but I can see a little sadness in her eyes. Could it be because of Lola?
Boy Meets World | Auntie Arizona, Dylan and Lena
‘I’m….I’m good.“ I smile and nod to Dylan. “There’s a bit of peace that Timothy has brought to us. My anxieties over Owen and Chloe are quieter, I’m trusting that there isn’t another crazy person out there waiting to hurt them. We had a moment, where Owen and I spoke to Timothy about his big brother, and we’ve decided to try and celebrate his birthdays too.” My eyes have since filled with tears which I quickly wipe away. “I’m sorry, I’m sure you didn’t want all of that unloaded on you.”
The sight of Arizona’s tears makes my own swell up. I won’t let them fall though. I just take her in a long comforting hug that we probably both needed. She apologizes for telling me all of this but I shake my head as I pull away, “No, it’s okay. It’s fine. That’s what I’m here for… I’m so happy for you and Owen. The way you two fought your way through these past couple of years really inspire me.”
“We’re just…. living our life. That’s all. We’ve had some difficult things thrown our way, but we’re both from Military families…. we don’t lay down and quit.” I nod, hugging her in return. “I speak for both of us when I say thank you, for sayinf that.”
‘Don’t lay down and quit,’ I think to myself. 'Don’t lay down and quit.’ I wish I was that strong. I’m trying to be… for my family, for my girlfriend… for myself. I have been. I can continue to be. She hugs me tightly thanking me and I shake my head, "No, thank you.”
"Look!" I exclaim from over on the couch, "He really likes me! He hasn't stopped smiling!" I giggle looking from Aunt Zona and my sister back to the tiny human in my arms. He's so cute and so little. I can't wait until I'm old enough to really take care of them. I think I may actually want to be a baby surgeon after all.
Boy Meets World | Auntie Arizona, Dylan and Lena
3:45p.m. couldn’t come around fast enough. I’ve been waiting for this day to end the minute that I came in. We’re going to meet my new cousin today! Dylan is picking up me after school and we’re going over to my aunts. I’ve been so excited all day because I love babies. They’re so cute like little baby dolls.
Finally, the end of the day bell rang and we spilled out of the classroom. Christine and Toby, unsurprisingly, beat me to my locker. They’re both smiling at me which means they’re up to no good.
I don’t even make it to my locker before Christine shouts, “So, eight grade prom is coming up…”
“I don’t wanna talk about prom today,” I say while opening up my locker.
She pouts, “But I thought things were going great between you and Clark.”
“Not the point,” I shrug her off.
Toby helps her corner me, “Than what is?”
“Just, not today,” I sigh, “I’m going to visit my aunt. She just had a baby.”
“Oh, babies are just the cutest,” Christine says while following me down the hall and out the building.
I spot Dylan’s car right away and run towards her, “Bye, guys. See you tomorrow.”
“Hey, kid,” she smiles at me through the rearview mirror, “How was school today?”
“It was fine. I was too busy thinking about the new baby to really concentrate,” I admit as we make our way out of the school parking lot and on the street.
We pull up at Arizona’s about ten minutes later and I run over to the door knocking. I can’t wait to meet little Timothy.
I hear a car pull up, and quick footsteps running to the door. I kiss the top of Timothy’s head as he snores softly in his carrier on my chest. “You get to meet Dylan and Lena today.” I whisper. He grunts, and wiggles slightly.
I open the door and see Dylan and Lena standing there with broad smiles on their faces. “Hi girls.” I say softly, “come in?”
Lena runs ahead to knock on the door and I grab the presents we brought for Owen, Arizona and the new baby. By the time I get to the door, it swings open revealing a beaming Arizona. “Hey Aunt Arizona!” Lena squeals and takes her into a hug then walks into the house, “Where’s little Timothy?”
“Hi, Arizona,” I smile looking after her then I envelope the woman in front of me in a hug before grabbing the gifts that I sat down, “These are for you guys.”
“He’s right here.” I point to the carrier on my chest, and lean over. “See?” I motion them over to the living room. Dylan hands me gifts and I smile to her, surprised. “You didn’t have to do this, girls! Thank you.”
"Oh! I didn't even see him!" I chuckle a little when my aunt leans over showing us the baby, "Oh, he's so cute! He looks like Uncle Owen." I smile over at the little baby, "Hi, Timothy. I'm Lena. I'm your big cousin! And that's Dylan, she's your even bigger cousin!" I look up at my aunt with a smile she just can't resist, "Can I hold him? I'll wash my hands like a surgeon and I'll sit on the couch!"

Oh, The Places You’ll Go | Lena
I glance at my watch… it’s 8:50. Class starts at 9. I should probably be heading that way. Closing my locker, I’m startled by a sudden tap on my shoulder. I turn around to a giggling Christine.
“Ready for math?” she asks.
I release the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding, “I was until you scared the crap out of me.”
Coincidentally, Christine and I have all the same classes together this semester. Christine says she bribed the counselor but I know that Christine is one of Mrs. Bradshaw’s favorite students so she probably just asked to have her scheduled changed. What’s funnier is that Toby has all but one class with us.
Speaking of… “Where’s Toby?”
“Oh, he rushed in early to get a seat next to his crush,” we both giggle as we start our descend down the hallway.
“Has he even told Nicole yet?” she shakes her head, “Wow, he’s wow. Well you know, Valentine’s Day is coming up. Maybe he should ask her to the dance.”
“Yeah, that’s one way to do it,” she says in reply. She shrugs and looks down to the floor.
I know that look. It’s her guilty face, “What aren’t you telling me?”
“Well, I know I promised you that we’d go to the dance together but…”
“You have a date, don’t you?”
“Christopher asked last night…” she admits.
I turn to face her, “Last night?”
“We were Facetiming…”
“Hmm,” I say mostly to myself as we continue our walk down the hallway.
She pokes me in the shoulder, “I’m sorry, Lena.”
“It’s okay. Just because I’m going alone doesn’t mean that you have to as well,” I shrug.
She smiles, “And you know, I’m pretty positive that Nicole is going to say no to Toby so you guys could go together. Plus we’ll hang out all night and I’ll still come over before to get ready together.”
“Fine…” I crack a smile at my best friend. I can’t be mad at her. She’s a pretty girl and I’d be more surprised if no one asked her to the dance.
We round the corner and into our Math class. I immediately see Toby sitting beside Nicole at her desk and by the way she’s looking at him seems as though it’s going well. We sit a few rows behind them and he turns around giving us two thumbs up… I might be going to this dance alone after all.
Ma says time flies when you’re having fun which had to be the case because Math class went by really fast today. It always goes by pretty fast though because I love math. Honestly, I love every subject but math and science particularly. Those two subjects are going to get me into med school.
Next class is French which isn’t as easy as math and science are for me but it’s equally as fun. My teacher speaks in French the whole class and it’s the only language we are allowed to speak when in the classroom which gets kind of hard sometimes. I can read it and understand it but speaking it is still pretty hard for me.
Come lunch, I’m exhausted… I’m tired of comment ca va? and bonjour. Je veux prende un sandwich au jambon… In other words, I just want to eat. I spot Toby and Christine at our usual table. I grab my tray making my way over to my two very best friends.
“Just in case it wasn’t clear, Nicole and I are official and we’re going to the dance together,” Toby announces as soon as I sit down.
I roll my eyes and Toby looks from me to Christine, “What’s her problem?”
“She’s upset because I got asked to the dance and… now you have a date too…” she trails off.
He looks at me sincerely, “Lena, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize… Look, we will help you find someone to go with if that’s the case. Right, Christine?”
“No… guys, I don’t want that,” I shake my head, “And I’m not mad that you guys have dates. I don’t have a problem going alone. It’s just a stupid dance.”
“Yeah, but it would be fun if we all had dates wouldn’t it?” Christine asks and I just shrug.
Toby pushes me playfully but still, I almost fall out of my seat, “Fine. IF and remember I said IF someone asks me then I’ll say yes. If not, I’ll be more than happy to go alone but I’m not asking anyone nor are you guys allowed to try to play matchmaker.”
“Fine,” they both nod in agreement.
When I said those words, I didn’t actually expect it to happen let alone today but it did. Leaving Physical Science and heading to my locker to switch out my things is when the shooting guard for our school’s basketball team walks up to me.
“Hey, Lena,” he smiles shyly.
I just wave, “Oh, hey, Clark.”
“Uh,” he says scratching the back of his ear, “well, you’re um, the smartest kid in school…”
“Yeah?” I urge him to continue.
I thought he was just going to ask for help in math so it surprises me when he pulls out a rose from behind him, “I was going to leave it in your locker but then I saw you so… um, would you like to go to the dance with me?”
“Oh,” I say taking the rose from him. Honestly, I’m surprised… This is a big school and I didn’t think anyone knew me but Christine and Toby let alone a basketball player, “wow. I don’t know what to say.”
“How about ‘yes’ and ‘I’ll see you at the dance’?”
“Yes,” I say remembering my promise to my friends, “I’ll see you at the dance.”
The rest of the day goes by uneventful. After school ballet was cancelled so I decide to hang out with my friends a little after school. My car is already here. They’re always on time but I like to wait with my friends for their parents to come pick them up. I don’t mention what happened with Clark because I still have my reservations about it.
“Lena… Lena!” Toby’s voice brings me out of my daze, “My mom’s here. You guys still wanted to go skating tomorrow after school right?”
“Yeah, my mom said it’s okay with her and our driver will take us then my mom will meet us there when she gets off work,” I confirm.
He nods running off, “See you guys tomorrow!”
“Whatcha thinking about?” Christine pokes me in the arm.
I shake my head, “Nothing. Long day… and I’m disappointed ballet was cancelled.”
“I heard Miss Elsa got sick from cafeteria food… Heard it was food poisoning,” she shrugs.
I shake my head, “If it were food poisoning then I’m sure way more people than just Miss Elsa would’ve gotten sick.”
“Oh, there’s my mom,” she points then she hugs me tightly, “I’ll see you tomorrow, L. I really am sorry about the dance. Bye!”
“Bye!” she runs off and I wave after her before making my way to my own car.
I greet the driver before getting settled in the backseat. The ride to the hospital wasn’t a long one but it was long enough for me to drift off to sleep. By the time I woke up, we were pulling into the hospital parking lot. I thank my driver before running out of the car and in through the doors of, the infamous, Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital.
Hey Aunt Val! You okay?
Yep, kiddo. Just tired. I’m back to taking care of babies in the NICU.
I got some candy in my bookbag! My mom says it makes me hyper. It might help wake you up a little.
Sure, I’ll take a piece. Thanks little one.
*reaches into her bag* I have a Snicker, some Reese’s cups and a couple of lollipops. I bought them at the snack stand after school. You have a preference?
Hmmmm… how about a Reese cup. That’ll give me some pep in my step.
*passes over Reese’s cup and pops a lollipop into mouth* How much longer is your shift? Maybe I can help out and you won’t be so tired?
A couple more hours, barring any emergencies. Want to help me with a couple of vital checks?
Yeah! Let's me grab my stethoscope! *reaches into bookbag and pulls stethoscope around her neck* I left my lab coat at home.
