I did it you guys... I finally quit my job... After months of contemplating this decision... I finally decided it was the right thing to do. I was even offered a promotion, but I turned it down. Why? Because 7 years ago I came to Santa Barbara with the intention of getting my degree. I can't let 18 year old Lena down. So I choose getting a degree over a getting a promotion. There were 2 girls in my class last night that said they would vote for Trump... Now this isn't about Democrats vs. Republican or Liberal vs. Conservative. Someone could argue for gun rights and I can still respect them. Hell, you can even be a BUSH supporter and I would still respect you and your views because there are many ways to back up your side, but when you support someone who has not so subtly express ideas of hate, racism and sexism, that's when I lose my respect for you. Why? Because no argument can ever justify a racist or sexist idea to spread across a nation and create a division that we have been working so many decades to overcome. I know sometimes life just isn't fair and we have to accept that. That may be easy for some people but it's not for me. I cannot sit here in silence and let people get away with doing things unjustly when I know I'm hard working and deserving of the same opportunities as someone else who may or may not be. This isn't about that though. This is about me standing up for yourself. Being that person that people want to ignore because what you have to say might actually be true and they can't justify their unjust actions. I know I seem overbearing sometimes but it's because I have a voice and I choose to use it. Do you think Martin Luther King Jr and Cesar Chavez accomplished all that they did by staying silent?
