Lenny always loved to try new food, sometimes he wasn’t a fan, but he’d pretty much always try anything once. Honeydew was a hit and the cat seems to want in on it too.

That is one fluffy dog!
Lenny decides to try being a guinea pig.
The time that Lenny decided that he wanted to try being a guinea pig.
Before and after photos of Lenny hooves. He complained about it the whole time, but finally got it done.
That time when I was actually successful at trimming Lenny’s hooves.

Lenny loves to be petted and doesn’t even flinch when Maxx the Cat decides to hit him in the face with his tail.
Lenny loved pets.
I haven’t seen Lenny use this bed except as a toy in several years and today he decided to lay on it.
Lenny was using this cat bed every single day. I'm not sure why he got so interested in using it. Prior to the past several months, I could count on one have the number of times that he had used it.
Montey the Cat is in the bag when Lenny decides he’s hyper.
Lenny let the cat out of the bag or at least scared him out.
Lenny apparently thinks that my hand needs a bath, so he gives it one.
Lenny would sometimes get in the mood to give me a bath. Usually he wanted pets in exchange, but sometimes, he was the one that wanted to give the pets.
Lenny looks the yard over in hyper mode (because his tail is raised which means he’s excited).
When Lenny was excited, he would raise his tail up in the air. This included getting fed, running around, or head butting things around the room.
Lenny decides that he wants to be petted.
Lenny usually loved to get lots of pets on his head and behind his ears. He wasn't really much of a fan of pets many other places.
Lenny was crazy hyper today when he came out to play.
Sometimes Lenny would get extremely hyper and he would just want to run around like a crazy deer.
Lenny checks out the snow.
Lenny was not a fan of the snow. I think this was the first and last time that he went outside when snow was on the ground.
Lenny trying to pick up a cucumber.
Lenny sometimes struggled to pick up food, but he had persistence and didn't give up when presented with a challenge that involved food.
Baby Lenny “playing” with Maxx the cat.
Lenny came home and was introduced to Maxx. Maxx wasn’t sure what to think of this strange creature, so he bopped him on the head, which Lenny enjoys.
It is with a very heavy heart that I share that Lenny passed away last night at the Purdue Large Animal Hospital from complications relating to aspiration pneumonia. The staff at the hospital did everything they could to save him, but his stubbornness in showing his symptoms means that the situation was out of control before it was obvious something was wrong. He was 7 years old. He will always be remembered as the loving, stubborn deer that he was. He will be missed and my world is a little bit dimmer without him in it.
Lenny has made it home from the vet. He has a cast on his leg. He can get up and move around, but he prefers to lay down. He is getting pain medication in the morning to help with the pain and is on a diet of wet food only (what you see in the photo is an alfalfa mash).
