“I won’t be a second! Feel free to have a look around!”

Kate called out from the back room at the sound of the bell above the door. Whoever it was didn’t respond but she heard an awkward shuffle of footsteps telling her they hadn’t left. Hell, they’d hardly even moved. God, people always rushed in as soon as Agatha went on her break.

Kate took a pin out of the cushion on her wrist and placed it into the pair of tweed trousers she’d been hemming before she stood. She looped the tape measure back around her neck and made her way out onto the shop floor.

“Hi, How’s your… day… been?” Kate’s voice nearly trailed off halfway through the question in surprise. The man standing nervously front of her was hardly a man at all. He barely looked older than she was. Barely eighteen. His thick brown hair tumbled over his forehead as he stared at her and Kate could tell there’d be a dimple in his cheek when he smiled. But he wasn’t smiling today. He was frowning at her slightly, his hands tucked into the pocket of his navy jacket, the collar was turned up slightly against the cold rain outside.

The corner of his downturned mouth twitched. “I’ve probably had better days.”

Kate cleared her throat, looking for something else to say. “Is there anything particular you were looking for today? Or just happy to browse? Anything we have will be tailored in house so let me know if you want to try anything and I’ll fit it for you.”

He stayed silent for another long moment and a muscle in his jaw clenched before he swallowed thickly. “I need a suit. Is it possible to have it for Thursday?”

Every word was clipped, as though the very last thing in the world he wanted was to be saying them. Kate blinked at him, “Tailoring a suit for… Three days time is… very tight.”

“Thursday is in four days.” He held his fingers up matter-of-factly.

“I assume you’d want to collect it Wednesday, if the event’s on Thursday.”

He let out a dark chuckle. “The event. Right.”

Kate ignored him, “I have… some things that are already partly done that might be workable. I think with your colouring a sapphire blue would-“

“It can’t be blue.” He looked as though it was costing him a lot to stay standing in front of her.

“Okay,” Kate sighed trying to forge ahead, “I’ll try to work within your preferences but we’re a bit limited for time-”

He let out another incredulous laugh that sounded bitter. “Oh well, next time my Dad drops dead I’ll try to get him to give us a bit more warning.”

Can Anthony live in Aqua Tower. It is a really fancy wavy building with two bedroom apartments and a doorman.

Having just watched a tour of a $1.1M bedroom apartment there… yeah. That’s where Anthony lives. It’s been reworked by an interior designer to make it a little more him. But it’s convenient, someone comes in to clean it every week, and he loves the view. He bought it with signing bonus his rookie year and he hasn’t regretted it. He loves lounging by the pool in a cabana in the summer time. He loves it even more the summer after he and Kate start dating and he gets to lounge on a sun lounger watching her read beside him, cocktails on the table between them. And the other residents don’t really bother him past a wave in greeting because they’re so used to seeing him. It’s bliss honestly.

And does he convince Kate to move him with him and work out of Chicago by making the very excellent point that his en-suite already had his and hers sinks! And heated tiles for the winter! She could be so comfortable if she would move into his place! He’s willing to go completely shirtless at home if it’ll sweeten the deal!

I guess I’m just weak for hot muscly Anthony. Embarrassing really.

But also Anthony would 100% have custom thigh pads with his initials on them. And the season after he and Kate get together he’s out there with Kate’s initials inside a little heart on one thigh pad and his number on the other. Because Anthony is in fact an MVP, and also down incredibly bad for his girl and he doesn’t care who knows it actually. Kate’s of course watching from the sideline when Anthony debuts his new touchdown celebration which is tapping his hand over his heart to mimic a thudding heartbeat like he’s Pepe Le Pew. And she wishes she didn’t find it as charming as she does.

Because damnit, he was always cute. Even in college she was wildly attracted to him but terrified that she would fall too far for him. And being a woman in sports journalism is hard enough without having a reputation for sleeping with the athletes. So she just pushed it aside, wrote him off as just another cocky guy chasing after a cheerleader.
