Hi! I'm donating 60% of the proceeds per sale of this print to an environmental nonprofit called Ozark Society Foundation. The organization does conservation work in the Yellow Coneflower's native region, the Ozark Mountains, USA, North America. This means $6 (out of $10) goes to charity under whatever username you have on etsy
This is the first of what I hope to be many prints dedicated to highlighting endangered plant and animal species. There are no known others in the universe and we need to do what we can to save what's left.

More about the yellow coneflower, the Ozark Society Foundation, and an explanation of my costs under the cut!
The yellow coneflower (specifically echinacea paradoxa, one of two coneflower variants) is described as "a tall, elegant burst of sunshine." The "paradoxa" in their scientific name refers to their yellow petals, a rarity among their non-paradoxical sisters whose blooms are pink and purple.
Their medicinal value is both a blessing and a curse. Sold as "echinacea," they're meant to boost immunity and help fight common colds. However, over-harvesting has lead to a major decline in population. They're currently in the "threatened" status on the endangered scale, which is admittedly of lesser concern than something that's nearly extinct, but this is not a competition of who is more or less extinct. It's a team effort to move all species out of danger entirely.
The Ozark Society Foundation, established in 1975, supports conservation and nature education for the local community, that being the Ozark-Ouachita mountains and surrounding lowlands. See more about this organization here: https://arkansasee.org/ozark-society-foundation/
We're donating $6 USD. So why am I, Leo at Urania Calling, keeping the other $4? Each package costs ~$2 to send out due to postage and packaging costs. So I immediately make $2, not $4. On top of that, every 10 prints I'll need to buy a package of stamps that costs $16.40. So I'm making less than a dollar, $0.72 cents, per print (for every 10 prints I sell). One of my favorite tropes is post apocalyptic towns being named after dilapidated signs with missing letters, like Novac (no vacancy) and Eaden (dead end). There’s something inexplicable about it
