Leonie’s eyes widened slightly as Daisy whispered to her. She hadn’t known that, but it made her feel cooler somehow. Being someone’s first anything was exciting, and Gage was cool! But she still looped her arm through Daisy’s and tugged her friend back in the direction of where she’d last seen her date. “But pretty sure it wouldn’t be a good gay date if she was on a date with someone who’d leave her bestie in distress, so... seems like this is the closest to a best of both worlds situation we’re going to get tonight.”

“So um…I think my date has his own thing going on? Apparently there’s some kind of drama between him and his ex and, thanks to the matchmaker, I’m now in the middle of it. I kind of feel like I’m in an episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Not as fun as I imagined.” 

“Oh, that seriously sucks, Daisy,” Leonie said apologetically, not sure what else she could say. She wasn’t the type to risk getting in trouble by offering some kind of retaliation on him for ruining the other girl’s night. “But uh... you can always hang out with me and Gage? I’m even happy to be the third wheel, I know you guys are besties and it’s not like I’m expecting this night to be like, True Love or anything,” she added, making air quotes around the word.

Shoutout to Nintendo for making Toadette–the only female playable character–the “easier” character to play in the new Super Mario Bros U Deluxe game for the Switch, but not the “easiest”. That was really nice and refreshing to see.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic right now or not, but it kind of makes sense to me? Toadette’s pretty friendly, if she was impossible to navigate then it would be out of character for her. Who’s the easiest instead? And who’s the hardest?

Who says it’s suffering? Sometimes sharing our darkest thoughts can be fun! Well I can’t say I’ve even seen this movie, but I’m real curious as to how wrong you were. Was this movie like…some kind of raunchy comedy compared to a ~girl power jam? 

I haven’t found a ‘dark thoughts’ friend yet, I guess. I have a ‘middle of the night’ thoughts friend, though, and it’s dark outside then so that’s close enough, right? Something like that. Something very, very like that.

I started tuning you out the second you decided not to voice an awful thought. I never do that. But did you assume that this movie would be like Legally Blonde just because it had Reese Witherspoon in it? Cause if so, boy do I have something to tell you about Cruel Intentions. 

Well, I don’t want to force my terrible thoughts on other people! I’m not a believer in ‘if I’m suffering, you have to suffer with me;’ I’d rather suffer alone! But um... maybe a little bit? Sweet Home Alabama was also a cute one! But I mostly just thought... oh, an election, it’ll be like if she ran for president, maybe it’ll help get me extra hype for Legally Blonde 3. I was so wrong!

Ego? I wasn’t trying to have an ego, I just know what I’m good at and I know what I’m not good at. I’ve picked things very carefully and work super hard. I mean, my first priority is school, but studies show that student athletes tend to perform better so that’s why I’ve got basketball on my side, too. Oh, um -- well that’s super nice of you to offer, but I don’t think I’m supposed to hang out with old men by myself! The internet would think you were creepy, unless you’re like... getting paid to be my coach.

I just watched the movie Election for the first time recently because I thought it would be cute and inspiring like Legally Blonde and I’m a little traumatized is all. Spree: Really? I get playing for the fun of it all, because trust me, I love just playing games for fun, but who doesn't also want to be the best and get the high score? That's really weird to me for some reason. Um... Myself? Duh! Nothing brings me more joy than beating my mom in a race. The look on her face is priceless.

Leonie: I have this thing where I believe that I can't win everything, so I try not to get too intense about the things that don't matter to me as much? That way I can build up good energy to really be amazing at the things where I want to succeed. Oh, right, obviously! I wasn't sure if you like... disappeared from the game when you're in Walt! It's really cool that you don't.

Oh, that seems like a mean prank to play on them! Also, I need to read the school handbook first, I feel like it might be a banned item? Like how they don’t really want us to have fidget spinners in the classroom anymore either because they’re ‘disruptive’. Maybe sleigh? That’s a fun one and close to the amount of letters in horse. I’m so bad at basketball, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find a ton of people who aren’t! Maybe you could make up a new holiday game entirely? Like a fun play on gift swap stuff. 

Well, if you wanted to play with me, you could always go first. Maybe I should make it a big thing, though; it could be a charity event, with a sleigh full of prizes for the winner at the end to go along with the word. Or different rounds, and each round’s prize matches its word. What kind of new holiday game could I invent, though? There are so many classics, I feel like no one’s looking to branch out.
