Early Zeus concept sketches

Testing out ideas for Zeus's look in Leon x Lykos. None of these are the final design. I definitely know I want purple and yellow to be his colors and that he'll have an eagle crest on his chest. Later on I decided I didn't want any of the main Olympians to be graybeards, so more recent sketches of him will depict him more as a man in his prime.

The idea here was that his hair would be white and his eys black when he's calm or happy, then his hair would turn black and his eyes white when he's angry or throwing his thunderbolts

Herakles, Eros, and Hermes. These are their final designs and how they’ll usually appear in Leon x Lykos.

Herakles, he’s a big guy, but I wanted the Nemean lion to be HUGE too, so for his legendary lion skin it didn’t make sense to me to have him drape it over his head as it’s often depicted. Kraven, from Marvel Comics, and his goofy lion jacket gave me the idea to have the lion’s head across his chest, and having the lion’s massive mane serve as a cape adds a superheroic touch that I really like.

Eros was the simplest to finalize since I knew early on I wanted him to have pink wings and basically wear nothing but briefs.

Hermes was the most difficult to nail down but a track and field singlet inspired me to do the sash across the torso and everything else pretty much clicked after that.

These are some early concept sketches of Herakles, Eros, and Hermes for Leon x Lykos. These three form a triad of gods that patron the gymnasium and homosexual relationships between men. In Leon x Lykos they’re also the patron gods who give the Sacred Band of Thebes their superpowers.
