Been a long time (very very long time followers may recall the old drafts for Greco-Ramen like 10 years back and even that isn't the oldest version!) but I finally have this comic concept molded into something I want to make and share~
Focusing on small episodic content, because my brain can never focus on long form content long enough to finish in a reasonable time frame~
Anyway, I love these goobers and happy to finally have stories to share with them! Hope you enjoy~
Hello! I have a book coming out, here's some information on it!
LYKOS, By J. N. Ledford
Publishing under Salem's Pine Publishing LLC
A contemporary fantasy werewolf romance, LYKOS is set primarily in my hometown located in the Blue Ridge/Smoky Mountains of the Appalachian range. There is slow burn romance, there is a werewolf being hunted, there are reckless decisions, and there is an innate love for the nature of my home!
I came up with this story years ago, and it has evolved so many times since then to reach this final version. Seeing it go from just a Wattpad story I was going to post a few chapters of, to a full blown book I have sat down to publish has been so fun.
We're nearing the end now, though life and cost of home repairs have pushing the deadline of the book back from its original May 4th publication; expecting the book to be finalized and published now in June/July if the world is a little merciful.
Still, I am sinking my claws into this story and the characters and this year you'll all get to meet them. And here's another fun fact, there will be a second book set in this world following a secondary character I am sure you will all love as well.
So get ready to meet our resident Lycanthrope, Fae "Lykos" Holloway, and the human whose life she literally crashes into, Khalid Hawkins.
The book will be available in paperback, hardback, and as an eBook through the companies Ingramspark and Amazon once they publish.
I would also, as always, love to shout out the cover artist @norapotwora for her stunning work on both the art and lettering. It's amazing seeing such a rough concept brought to life. I cannot wait for the chance to work with her again in the future.
My ask box is open, so if you have any questions feel free to send them in at @jnledford - I'll answer what I can without spoiling too much!
Written summary under the cut:
"What happens when werewolves and people collide in the Great Smoky Mountains?"
Khalid is having a hard enough time striking out on his own, hours away from family and the city he has called home for more than 20 years. But homesickness won't stop him from moving into the Appalachian cabin his grandfather has entrusted him in the will. Even if the thought of living on his own leaves a pit in his stomach.
On the first night he spends in his new home, finally alone with a storm raging overhead, there is a deafening crash, and he ventures outside to find the door of the shed demolished. Against better judgment, he peeks inside. What he finds is a canine he believed to only exist in fiction before this moment; there is no question that what he sees is a werewolf in the dim light that illuminates it.
An injured one at that.
Unable to leave the situation alone, Khalid throws caution to the wind and does his best to help, only to wind up with a stranger in his home when she finally shifts back, in and out of delirium from whatever she has been shot with. A growing foundation of familiarity and trust between the pair, Khalid learns much about the newly dubbed Lykos and the world of lycanthropy, under the impression they are safe from the dangers she has outrun—but the hunters aren't done with her yet.
I am making this for a few things - first, welcome to the blog if you are new here!
I am the admin, Prompt Prophet (Promphet), and have been the sole admin for some few years now. Also, I am a woman! I only say this becuase funnily enough a LOT of you guys seem to think I am a guy and it cracks me up.
Sometimes I will need to vanish for a stretch, but life is hectic as you can imagine. I do my best to queue posts for the week though if I can.
I should also add, this blog is run off of submissions. While I may throw my own prompt in every once in a blue moon, 99% of everything on here has been submitted by other users and will continue to be as such. The submission box is always open! This goes for art too, though try to just add that to a reblog instead of sending it to my inbox. I check the notes of prompts for reblogs of art to share (and I encourage others to do the same, as I cannot reblog everything)!
Feel free to submit a prompt using the "Submit/Submit a prompt!" button at the top.
Additionally, you will sometimes see me share my own upcoming work here as well. The pro of being an admin, I can sprinkle some werewolf indie book stuff on all of you. Though not often, it is not the focus of this blog and I do not want to clog everything on here with it.
I have an upcoming book, LYKOS, publishing this year (2026) around May or June should all go well. Cover art done by the fantastic @norapotwora, by the way. Feel free to check out more on the book, keep up to date, or ask a question over at @jnledford or @salemspinepublishing
