Taurus' remained away from the fae, easier to look away than to look at someone directly asking him about something most avoided calling him out on. The pack probably would have if he was meant to be a just member like the rest of them, but because he had renounced his status as alpha, that he could have been there leader, at times it felt as if they were still waiting for him to reclaim it and did not wish to question decisions he made.
"Until just over a year ago I was absent, yes," Taurus acknowledged, dark eyes focused on the various shades of the flowers surrounding them. Internally he began to count the various colours, to calm himself so the wolf did not emerge needlessly. He knew someone would eventually ask, eventually call him on his shit, but he had, he supposed, thought it would be a dear friend, or his child's mother, instead it was a man of station he had bedded in the back of a tavern. It felt almost sad there was no one more willing.
Taurus' eyes eventually fell back to Leo. "I always supported her, gave her mother what she needed but I - I did not intend to be tied to this town, to any person," he noted, supposed it was obvious he might be the type given how they'd met. "Easy enough not to attach yourself to a child you never meet." And certainly now the notion of leaving, despite him convincing himself in his head he would, felt like it would be harder. She spoke to him now, called him Pa and asked him for foods he cooked well. How was he to make her miss the things he made as she missed aspects of her mother that the woman in her ill state could not give? Clearly the love and grace he spoke of indicated a current attachment, even if Taurus did not quite directly say so.
"I don't typically mention her," he commented. "Best not to muddy things up." As it felt perhaps he had muddy this entanglement up with his words.
The sigh and expression were evidence enough to know Leopold’s disapproval in the matter. Just briefly, the fae turned from Taurus needing a moment to recollect himself. Any other person, he would have shrugged it off and merely went on with his life. Yet, just the thought of the wolf sent shivers down his spine. Absolutely unacceptable, but here they were.
At Taurus’ words, Leopold could understand. Growing up on a small isle of faes, he longed for adventure and did not want to be tethered there. But, if he had a child things would be different. Or at least, he was telling himself that. However, Leopold knew his own selfish heart and supposed it would be cruel to subject Taurus to any judgment when he most likely would have done the same thing if he was in that situation.
“Why don’t you mention her?” He asked genuinely curious, trying to understand the handsome man before him. Taurus felt like a mystery. A riddle he must solve.
“Understandable, it would muddy things up with a lot of people.” Not him, he actually adored children. It was adults he could hardly stand.
