I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but I was rewatching bits of season 1 and it does strike me as a bit ironic that Samira points to her having the ED's highest patient satisfaction scores when Robby's berating her about her slower pace and lower patient volume. Because, on paper, it looks like proof that she's performing 'better' than her colleagues - but the metrics are generally measured on averages, so they likely reflect the fact (as Robby mentions) that she sees fewer patients, allowing her to provide exceptionally attentive and empathetic care to each one. However, her colleagues, by contrast, may be seeing more patients and may maintain adequate care across a larger volume. This might result in lower satisfaction scores (by how much, we don't know) but potentially more efficient care and access for the department as a whole.
The irony lies in the disconnect between what the metrics celebrate and what the ED actually values or needs in a high-volume, high-risk environment: Samira's excellence (because she is excellent) at the individual level likely does not automatically translate into efficiency or benefit at the system level. I think these are interesting questions that the show presents: should deep individualised care be prioritised over maintaining access for many? Which method of care would be preferred or would be ideal for an emergency department? And it's interesting because what the show is, I think, illustrating through Samira is that even exceptional care can create trade-offs when viewed in the context of complex systems like emergency medicine, especially in an over-crowded and under-staffed department - it's the 'few versus the many' concept.
no one is coming, it’s up to you
Whitaker is easily liked because he’s compliant. Santos isn’t easily liked because she’s defiant. The most well liked person in the room caring about the most “difficult” person to like as if it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. Everyone looking at him as if he were a saint for withstanding her, when to him she is his savior. Literally the most important platonic relationship on screen right now for me. Don’t look at me.
I'm sooooo excited for this! Will it be about Santos, Robby, both, or something else entirely?
"I like the challenge of undiagnosed illness, of quick decisions, of life-saving procedures. And I like being here for people on the worst days of their lives."
It isn't that Whitaker doesn't have a storyline this season, it's that being there for people and supporting others *is* his storyline. This is something he actively wants to do and why he decided to do and continue emergency medicine despite his tribulations in season 1.
loved this little trio moment and their laughs at the end!
The whole "admit you like living with me" scene is comical but the funniest part is definitely the look of pure horror that crosses Trinity's face when she realizes that Dennis has caught on to the fact that she has mushy little feelings for him. It stood out immediately because I have never seen Trinity make that expression. She's been through some terrible shit while working at that hospital but nothing can be worse than people realizing you're not as nonchalant as you pretend to be.
I take this hucklerobby stuff serious
real massive siblingisms this week
The All Pitt crew
I love that Cassie McKay is an R3 in her 40s. I love that she lived a whole life, full of ups and downs (and recovery!) before deciding to go to med school, and that she did it with a 5-year-old son at home. I love that she believed in herself enough to go for it.
I love that Cassie knows who she is, and how the job affects her. I love her moral compass. I love how she self-reflects on feedback she receives, and how she so naturally mentors younger doctors in empathy. I love how she doesn't shy away from difficult or uncomfortable conversations. I love that she wants to get laid.
And I love that Cassie isn't looking for external validation. Her sense of self means she seeks guidance and feedback from Robby, but not his approval. She sees him for the great doctor he is, and for the human he is, which is very rare among the doctors in the Pitt.
now we know why dennis has had to be clicker trained... it's because he acts like THIS when his owner isn't around....

season 2 going well so far
i’m confident that even though santos couldn’t bring herself to admit that she likes having whitaker around, he’s still not going to move out bc he Knows she does now. he has all the evidence he needs! she was salty when she thought he’d move out without talking to her! she keeps buying avocados even though he eats them all on her! he asks stupid questions during tv shows, but she clearly keeps watching them with him anyhow! he leaves his dirty clothes around and wasn’t paying rent for ten months and she was still upset that he’d consider leaving! she might have a deathly allergy to verbalizing her feelings, but he knows her! he wants to be there for her if she’ll let him!
