3 axioms intended to dispel common myths:

katara and zuko are the safety hazards of the gaang, and are certainly not responsible for anyone else, as they can barely be responsible for themselves.

no one in the gaang is the “mom” or “dad” because they are all children, and they are all peers.

if there were a “mom and dad” of the gaang, it would certainly not be katara and zuko (the babies of the gaang) but sokka and suki.

to elaborate:

sokka is responsible and he is responsible for all of them. both he and suki’s whole deal is protecting others and being the leaders of their respective groups. also, you know, they’re actually a couple.

toph actually respects them, and respects their authority. toph never takes orders from katara, ever, but will gladly do whatever sokka tells her to without question.

katara is both the bossiest and most chaotic member of the gaang. this is because she is very beautiful and powerful and refuses to listen to anyone who is not a Hot Boy With A Tragic Backstory. this is not mom energy, but in fact, heterosexual little sister energy.

zuko is no one’s dad. he is not even izumi’s dad, because any word denoting paternity in their household is BANNED. only moms exist. and zuko goes on to be a great mom. that said, he is definitely not the mom friend. he is actually your mom friend’s greatest concern at all times, because he refuses to practice self-care.

when katara tries to tell sokka what to do, oftentimes this will result in him laughing in her face, but he will acquiesce when he recognizes that she is right. zuko would never try to tell sokka what to do, so this hypothetical needn’t even be explored.

katara and zuko love each other very much, but the thought of them ever having sex, or even kissing, would make zuko retch for hours. and katara may have low standards when it comes to men, but she still has standards. accusing them of being attracted to each other is a most grievous insult indeed.

My next WIP, Aang giving a fifteen-sixteen year old Tenzin his Airbender tattoos.

I’m one to believe that Tenzin did receive them at an age that young. He seems disciplined, serious, and incredibly dedicated to his father’s legacy, so him being a master in his teen years wouldn’t surprise me.

How do Zuko and Sokka deal when mini Korra learn how to talk to Kyoshi and now she is the only one she will take advice from (apart Toph of course)

Oh there'd be hell to pay, but not like in a "Korra goes on a rampage way", bc I know people paint Kyoshi as being obsessed with violence, but actually her whole shtick is justice, so what we end up is an eight year old with an extremely firm sense of fairness like

Zuko: Korra, come on, Naga is just too big for your bed now, she can sleep outside

Korra, speaking in the terrifying layered Avatar State voice: You said you and Dad sleep in the same bed because you love each other. Naga and I love each other, so it stands to reason that we should continue to share a bed

Zuko: Aang if that's you in there I swear to god I'll find a way to smack you

aang: steadfastly ignore his very existence katara: imply that she is a silly and frivolous little girl  sokka: proudly assert some flagrantly incorrect information and then refuse to concede that said statement is incorrect even when proven wrong toph: tell her you feel sorry for her. that you couldn’t even imagine how hard it must be being blind zuko: imply that he is a silly and frivolous little girl  suki: beat her in a fight  mai: impossible, as she is literally always in a rage ty lee: beat her in a fight azula: make a “your mom” joke

Jetko?

Both A and E, strangely enough!

I love the ship when it comes to the pre-finale story. One of my HCs is that Zuko experimented with his bisexuality while he was living as a refugee, mostly with Jet. I think their personalities pre-redemption arc development would make a lot of sense together (though I would not say it would be a very healthy relationship).

They are both obsessive, explosive bastards looking to heal their egos and it draws them to one another. I think Jet would be drawn to Zuko's intensity, but even more so to his distant behaviour. I think Jet would love to try to break down his walls, like it's some sort of challenge.

I think Zuko would be drawn to Jet because of his overly confident attitude and his moral ambiguity. Zuko thinks he wants to be like Jet.

In my head, when Jet makes the first move (because, you know, it's Jet) it leads to a mutual obsession and turbulent relationship.

I feel like they really wouldn't be a match anymore, healthy or otherwise, post-redemption arc development. Mainly because the things that would draw them to one another are either gone or changed in important ways.

So that was my very long-winded way of saying A for canonverse!Jetko, E for postcanon!Jetko lol. Thanks for the ask :)
