People talk about Azula like she came out of the wombacting like rumplestiltskin because why did I just read that someone said Azula 'sabotaged' good moments with her mom as if this seven year old deadass watched her mom try to reach out to her and thought "aha! A foolish endeavour, mother of mine, but I see through your ruse of affection for its true intention! You seek only to dull the blade of mine own wits and for that I must rebuke thee and thine efforts... better luck next time, nemesis of mine!"

the first time i watched atla I was so obsessed with zuko x sokka x suki to a degree where i read all available fanfics and kept giving secret kudos/comments like a troll under a bridge

And what do you shipped in atla?

oh man haven't watched atla in a minute. is it cheating to say I liked all of them? I watched atla for the first time when I was in high school, so I connected more to the older characters. I remember really liking Suki :) I think I had a crush on a girl with a similar personality at the time 🫣 all the characters are so dynamic and well developed. it's great to watch them interact and see where they get along, where they clash, and how they push each other to be better.

honestly, I wasn't super invested in any of the atla ships. Sokka and Suki were super sweet and I loved when people started shipping Suki x Sokka x Zuko during quarantine (zukki??). I think they'd be a fun throuple :P I'm fairly neutral on the kataang vs zutara debate. didn't love how parts of Katara and Aang's story played out, but they're nice together. Katara and Zuko had a more intriguing dynamic, but I don't think they'd be good long term romantic partners. they're both fine. oh and I oddly liked maiko. I think I just like Mai and believe in her ability to grow to understand Zuko's new worldview lol

I'm also partial to jetko, azutara, and tyzula. it's really easy to read Azula and Ty Lee's relationship through a queer lens and I love when tyzula art crosses my feed, whether toxic or surprisingly wholesome. I didn't have any fandom input on first watch and I was so glad to come online and find that other people shared my angsty repressed sapphic vision >:) idk, I have a big soft spot for Azula. by the end, I can't help but see her as a broken 14-year-old who needs a lot of healing. watching as someone older than the target audience really puts into perspective just how young the characters are. I think I have far more grace for the young cast than people who grew up with atla. they're all just kids navigating a war :(

zukki is the funniest ship name ever because both of those k's COULD just belong to zuko and suki so you just have to assume that sokka is there in spirit
