i fucking hate skincare ads, especially acne ads. “look here’s emily, she looked disgusting and didn’t leave the house but with the help of proactolodermistshit nows shes not cripplingly ashamed of herself!” its such a terrible way of advertising products by making consumers feel like such shit that they feel obligated to spend hundreds of dollars trying to fix something that happens to everyone! because its just a natural human thing! profiting off of the insecurity caused by beauty standards that the makeup/skincare industry sets for people, especially women is so twisted and i.hate.capitalism.
depression meal: standing in the kitchen for 15 minutes debating if i have the energy to cook then leaving after eating raw bread
You know what? I’m sick of this *digs three blocks down and closes myself in with a dirt block*
“let women get plastic surgery!” is such a cold take like please think critically for once and stop trying to turn it into an empowerment movement for women. growing up arab, i have several cousins who were pressured into getting a nose job since it’s so normalized in my culture and i’m constantly shamed by my family members for not considering it. it’s hurtful and awful especially now with facetune and snapchat filters making your nose look more narrow
i didn’t realize this morning rant gathered some notes until now so i’ll add on to this. plastic surgery companies capitalize on the insecurities of women of color and it’s based on racist beauty standards it should never be glorified
people in activist movements are constantly getting these concepts confused. “let’s not jugde a person for doing this” is not the same as “this is empowering”
beauty is part biological programming, part social construct. like flushed lips, wide hips, general athleticism, etc is biological, and eye makeup, being underweight, defined eyebrows, etc is mostly social. most women would say they dont wear makeup for men - thats fair. that removes your biological motivation. but all that remains is a social motivation. there is no innate Beauty, it is simply something human society constructed, like grammar or philosophy.
basically, if putting on makeup makes you happy, that doesnt mean youre doing it for yourself. it means you were raised in a society that has hammered in a positive reaction and a pursuance of conventional “beauty”. dont worry, i do it to - im literally about to put on a face mask, im not saying everyone who pursues beauty is hypocritical and empty, because *everyone* pursues beauty. but i AM saying that this whole message of “i wear it for myself” is frankly false, by merely living in society you CANNOT separate “myself” and “society” - its impossible.
tldr id just like everyone to think more deeply before sweeping things under the carpet and not worrying about their own insecurities
no price too high for luxury
Party Poison and The Girl
I put together these costumes entirely from thrifted materials and modified everything myself. special thanks to my dad for being the photographer and to SD for being the girl to my party.

This has been said a thousand times and articulated better than I could ever hope to, but I’m so tired of yts and nb pocs using aave. y’all abuse, misuse, and take credit for language created by black folks (esp black women and black gay men) and then toss it aside when it’s no longer cool and trendy.
So many black ppl grow up feeling alienated from their own language, having parents, teachers, and peers that scold and make fun of them for sounding “uneducated” and now the same people that teased us have taken claim of language that black people had to eliminate from our lexicon just to be taken seriously.
So no, nonblack El Be Gee Tees, you did not coin let’s get this bread, wig, shade, or tea. It was uneducated blacks that you look down your nose at that did.
And honestly I just have to laugh when y’all complain about cishets misusing bottom and top or whatever. Because when we ask for not to do the same thing, y’all give us the same ole, “well no one owns a language” or “it’s just slang anyway.” It’s tired and pathetic.
Y’all are no better than your cishet counterparts.
White people and nonblack pocs can reblog just keep your thoughts to yourself
I seen several people in the tags say “x is aave? i won’t use it anymore” And like,
1. That’s a lie. Even if you stop for couple weeks, you’ll definitely start again when you see the next cool, new “internet slang” (i.e. aave) that stan/gay twitter “came up with.” So saying you won’t do it anymore is just an empty platitude to make you feel better about yourself.
2. That isn’t the point. Whatever, keep using let’s get this bread or wig, like I said, y’all aren’t going to stop anyway. I want you to become conscious and hyperaware that you’re doing it. Every time one of those words/phrases crosses your lips I want you to think, “What would be the reaction if a black person said this? Would they treated the same way as me? Or would others (and myself) view them as lesser and uneducated? Why is that I don’t face scrutiny for using these words and they do?” And think long and hard about the answers to those questions because you already know what they are.
Be aware of your privilege, y’all. And be better allies to black folk.
STOP HAVING WHITE VOICE ACTORS PLAYING NON-WHITE ROLES
stop depriving non-white actors opportunities to act and get recognized!
Voice actors often don’t know who they’re reading for or what franchise they’re in (that’s what the strike was recently about, so they’d know whether they were in a small first time game or the 4th installment of a major franchise, if they were replacing a beloved voice actor, etc.) so please don’t harass the actors, until recently they legally didn’t have the right to know who they were reading for and were usually not told until months or even years later.
Definitely go after casting, directors, and studios executives. Those are the people making the decisions.
Example of a VA not knowing (and getting screwed on top of it).
They still don’t have the right to know. They got fucking nothing out of that strike. They can know the code name (which might be a serial number or whatever) and if it’s a sequel. That’s it. That’s the extent of the “transparency” they won from the strike.
As a perfect example of this controversy, if you haven’t looked up interviews surrounding Laura Bailey as Nadine Ross, it’s worth it.
Laura Bailey herself explained that when she auditioned for the role, she was given no information about what the character looked like. It was only after she was hired and arrived for recording that she was shown concept art and discovered the character was a WOC. She was uncomfortable about the situation.
Meanwhile, Neil Druckmann revealed that they were already working on concept art of the character when they hired Laura Bailey. They finalized the character’s design as a WOC after they’d hired a white voice actress, so that was a conscious decision. He was also very flippant about the situation as a whole.
Like people above have said: Yes, whitewashed casting is a legitimate and real issue. But unlike actors in film and stage, voice actors are often totally blind to what they’re auditioning for. They get fucked by NDAs and legal red tape bullshit. Go after the casting directors and execs and high-position game devs that knowingly make these decisions.
Reblogging for that info
Call out the studios making these decisions, but leave the actors alone. There’s nothing they can do about it short of breaching the contract and paying thousands in fines to the company that put them in that shitty position in the first place. Game companies are horrendously exploitative of performers and artists and need to be called out.
Headcanoning a character that’s written to be gay as bi or straight is homophobic. headcanoning a character that’s written to be bi as gay or straight is biphobic. Thatse it
Headcanoning a character that’s written to be straight as gay or bi is heterophobic and also an EXCELLENT thing to do

You either hate Nazis or you’re on their side it’s easy as that you can’t be morally grey on this
You can’t even say something like “I’m not into politics” or even the #woke version “I’m not educated enough on this matter to have a side” or something because even children know Nazis Are, like, Bad
If you arent willing to Oppose them you have chosen to enable them. They will continue to act regardless of if you’re “not into politics” or if you hate Nazis but think they deserve to talk. If you are not in opposition to fascism, you are enabling it, even if you may hate it. It is not enough to not be a fascist, you must be anti-fascist.
fuck this i wanna get decked in the face at a my chemical romance concert
