So, we all know Andrew hates physical touch (unless it's Neil, or there was a clear "yes"), but for a moment, imagine, just imagine...
It was a normal summer day. Too hot and too crowded for Andrew's taste. He was only bearing with it because Neil-stupid-Josten promised him an ice cream. So here they are, standing in a giant queue and Andrew, wearing his usual total black outfit is melting. Neil is standing by his side (Almost unnoticeably, turning his back to the crowd, so Andrew would touch as little strangers as possible), smiling ear to ear, wearing a "Palmetto Foxes" t-shirt and his stupid orange bandana. Andrew almost rolled his eyes, when he saw what Neil put on himself, but he hated him too much to say anything. His eyes searched the park for a hint of shadow, and finally raised at Neil, with a little more suffering in his sight that he attempted to show.
– Josten, that ice cream better be worth the fucking oven that you put me under.
Neil didn't say anything, but let out a quiet laugh and moved to the side so his shadow is cast on Andrew. He didn't notice that his back was exposed to the crowd, and maybe, just maybe, wouldn't have cared. It was in that moment that he felt two tiny hands grabbing onto his shirt. At first he tensed, and turned around, ready to pull the kid away until he looked at them and freezed. It was a little girl in a bright yellow dress, grabbing onto him and looking just as uncomfortable as he did. And he saw it. In the movement of her eyes, in the shaking of her lips, in her tightened fists. Andrew was gonna say something, until he was interrupted.
– She's nonverbal. – A soft voice of a young woman, sounding almost guilty. – She hates crowds, but it's her brother's birthday today, so...
– It's okay. – Andrew said before he could think, surprisingly even to himself. – I get her.
He could see the way her shoulders relaxed and a small smile appeared on her face.
– We didn't think she would grab onto someone she doesn't know. – The woman squatted down placing herself right in front of the girl – That's not exactly something she does a lot.
– Don't worry about it. – Andrew could almost see Neil raise his eyebrows, but to his surprise, Josten didn't say a thing. – Does she like ice cream?
Minutes later they would be sitting on a bench, under the cool shadow of a tree, finally having escaped the crowd. The girl would be sitting beside him, swinging her legs and grabbing his finger with her little fist.
Andrew didn't want that. He couldn't, shouldn't. But in that moment he saw himself in her eyes. The fear, the desperate attempt to escape, to hide, to protect herself from the world. And with that, he couldn't bring himself to break her, couldn't do to her what everyone did to him. And if that meant tolerating her little hands on his shirt, he would throw away his pride and shove deep down his burning memories, only to let her have hope that was taken from him too soon.
Matt would so buy a shirt like this for neil, and neil would so wear it with pride just to annoy andrew
thinking about andrew buying neil a car at the end of his fifth year....using his signing bonus to make sure neil is still taken care of...also bcus left on his own devices neil would get a used car with one million miles on it
Early on, his nerves had his pitches floating on the high side, so Miyuki-senpai directed him to focus on the center and establish a rhythm. Sawamura-senpai trusted him and was able to pitch more freely. This is how a battery should be.

#01. to what lies ahead その先へ
I came across the opinion that whenever Neil is overwhelmed by grief, loss, he’d instinctively seek out Andrew through intimacy, even if his mind were completely consumed by everything else. It was mentioned that Neil would put himself in handcuffs so he wouldn’t accidentally cross Andrew’s boundaries. but what unsettles me even more is the idea that Andrew would actually agree to it simply because “yes is always yes, until it becomes no.” but no. there isn’t a single universe in which I believe Andrew would agree to be intimate with Neil when Neil is in that kind of vulnerable, even if Andrew were the one completely in control. not every “yes” Neil gives is an informed, clear-headed one. just think back to their first kiss. Neil was ready to take things further, but Andrew stopped him because Neil wasn’t in the right state of mind to understand what he actually wanted. and that wasn’t even after some devastating personal tragedy. It would completely contradict the very foundation their relationship was built on if Andrew looked at Neil, saw that his judgment was clouded by grief, and still chose to bring him to orgasm simply because Neil technically said yes. because Andrew knows the difference between wanting sex and wanting relief. and in a moment like that, he would know that what Neil needs isn’t sex at all. he needs comfort. he needs someone to sit beside him in silence, let him fall apart if he has to, hold him close, or simply remind him that he isn’t alone anymore. Andrew has never been interested in taking a “yes” at face value. he’s always cared about whether that yes truly belongs to Neil. that’s exactly what makes their relationship what it is.
I wildly need to know how badly the whole world must’ve shaken when Nicky the most “childish, dramatic, weakest, gayest boy alive” person imaginable tried to lunge at his own parents in a fit of rage so violently that it took the entire security team to hold him back and drag him away from them just so he wouldn’t smash their faces in. was that the first time the rest of the Foxes saw the real monster in him?
whenever someone tries to hit on Neil, by stepping into his personal space, casually leaning a shoulder against his, wrapping an arm around him under the guise of a joke, or finding any excuse for unnecessary contact, Neil never realizes what’s actually happening. what he does notice is that he suddenly feels uncomfortable. without even thinking about it, he instinctively drifts closer to Andrew and farther away from the other person, simply because Andrew’s presence makes him feel safe and understood. watching the whole thing unfold from the sidelines, Andrew immediately recognizes what’s going on. he knows perfectly well that someone is shamelessly flirting with Neil, and Neil’s oblivious response is so absurd that Andrew can’t help finding it quietly amusing. still, he doesn’t say a word, he never bothers explaining it.
My favorite thing about our good friend Kevin Day is that he has earned every right to be a bitch. Like his ego is through the roof because he’s the best of the best. He won the championships when he played with the Ravens. Then Riko broke his hand, he transferred to Palmetto (the smallest and most dysfunctional collegiate team) and the second he actually started playing again, the foxes won the fucking championship. Like yeah if I pulled that off my ego would be the size of the fucking moon too.
Also his mom literally created the sport so…
do you guys ever think about andrew abruptly ending most of his and neil's conversations by saying "i'm done talking to you now. go away" and neil listening every single time and how that was probably one of the first things to make andrew wonder if neil would respect his "no" in other situations
Andrew is lowkey (almost) a better liar than Neil bc he had everyone convinced he couldn’t care less.
like, he gives so many fucks,
he cares so much, about everything and everyone, and it’s plain as day when you notice his actions, and yet he had everyone (even some readers) convinced he’s winning the DGAF olympics on aura alone
I see you Andrew Minyard fake DGAF-er
Neil and Andrew spend time together, but Kevin is always nearby and watching Exy
Neil has a habit of slowly slipping lower until his face disappears into the crook of Andrew’s neck or against his chest. he doesn’t even try to hide the deep breath he draws in, filling his lungs with Andrew’s scent as though searching for the one place where nothing else in the apartment can reach him, where there’s only Andrew. “You smell like yourself,” he murmurs, his lips never leaving Andrew’s skin. “Were you expecting someone else’s?” Andrew asks, absentmindedly combing his fingers through Neil’s curls. Neil only answers with a quiet grunt, shaking his head before burrowing even closer. again and again, he makes the same tiny adjustments, clumsily trying to melt into Andrew without disturbing him, until Andrew finally lets out a quiet sigh. “You’ve got ten minutes.” It’s all the permission Neil needs. the very next second, his legs are hopelessly tangled with Andrew’s, his arms wrapped securely around Andrew’s lower back as he presses every inch of himself as close as physically possible. soon, the only part of him still visible is the crown of red hair tucked beneath Andrew’s chin. “Junkie.” Andrew rolls his eyes, thoroughly trapped in a position that isn’t particularly comfortable, but at least Neil finally stops squirming. the top of Neil’s head rests directly beneath Andrew’s lips, making it almost inevitable that he scatters a few absentminded kisses there as they talk. eventually, Andrew shifts, sliding a hand beneath Neil’s back before rolling him fully underneath him, pinning him gently between the mattress and his own body as he settles his weight on top. the moment Andrew’s scent completely overwhelms every other smell in the room, Neil lets out a muffled, deeply content little “Yeah…” as his hands instinctively stroke Andrew’s back and sides. Andrew isn’t entirely sure whether that quiet “yeah” is Neil’s response to being called a junkie or something slipped out from his unconscious mind, but judging by the way Neil melts beneath him, he clearly prefers this position. resting his chin atop Neil’s head, Andrew presses another lingering kiss into his hair, breathing in the clean scent left behind by Neil’s evening shower. “I’ll make it twenty,” he murmurs quietly. “if it's too hard—wheeze." Neil’s arms only tighten more firmly around Andrew’s waist locking them together, making it perfectly clear that he couldn’t care less about the discomfort if it means holding onto this moment for just a little longer.
the trifecta
Neil, after learning that Jean has a motorcycle: Hey Andrew, why don't you ride a motorcycle? It seems more your speed.
Andrew: They’re for freaks who are just looking for attention. 'Oh, look at me, I'm balancing on two wheels and committing several traffic violations.' Fuck off. Join the circus if you wanna be a freakshow and leave the rest of us the hell alone.
The Foxes, who have barely heard him rant about anything like that before :
Andrew:
Neil: You don't know how to ride a bike, do you?
Aaron: its completely fine to not know how to ride a bike. It's an arbitrary benchmark set on kids for little to no value. Knowing how to ride a bike doesn't benefit or hinder anyone in the long run, anyways. And do you KNOW how many people have life-altering accidents while riding a bike? Its practically lethal.
The Foxes:
Andrew:
Neil: you too, huh?
Remember during the winter banquet when Riko told Neil that he had bought off a doctor at Easthaven and Neil was so consumed with anger he punched Riko in the mouth, then in the eye, then got knocked into a table and brought Riko to the floor where he KEPT THROWING PUNCHES, the held on “as hard as he could” to Riko once people started pulling them away from each other and when they were finally separated, STILL fought against the crowd to try and go at him again, AND THEN, after Wymack literally hauled Neil off his feet, Neil was trembling so hard he thought the room was shaking and didn’t take his eyes off Riko until they were seated outside the court on opposite sides of the room?
And this was before andreil even kissed btw.
