Everything Namor did in all of his interactions with Shuri was strategic. Dressing her up in the royal clothes. Telling her his origin story. Taking her to Talokan. Showing her the vibranium. Giving her his mom’s jewelry. Which— pause that woulda been a red flag for me. You have this much trust for me when we just met 2 hours ago? All of it had a purpose. He treated her like an equal at a time when she was still being treated like a child. He pulled at her heartstrings, because he knew she cared for her people. And he also knew she’d admire someone who clearly cared for his. The moment that she sacrificed herself for Riri, he knew that was his way in. See how differently he dealt with her, versus Ramonda. It was purposeful. Hell, he probably knew someone was already on their way to rescue Shuri, giving him cause for the war that would eventually kill Ramonda. Because even if she didn’t die then, she wouldn’t be queen forever. Eventually Shuri would inherit the throne. That’s a long game Namor was willing to play.

There’s no enemies to lovers. There was no flirting romantically. Namor dazzled her on purpose for a purpose. Now look what happened, she’s in a position of power, and she’s sympathetic to Talokan. Like Namor said, she has no allies. When the surface world comes for Wakanda, she’ll turn to Namor. Now he gets his war just like he wanted. It was all by design.
