req: maybe just a tiny one-shot? I know you’re win the middle of writing many fics so no pressure. But Ava Coleman x fem!reader? Where r and Ava have been in a relationship and no one knew bc it was secret, r has a daughter and just loves Ava, even calling her Mom. You can decide the kids name maybe she could be mixed? but basically one day the kid has like a bad day and won’t talk to Miss Howard and finally gets r to try and talk to her but she wants to talk to Ava. (I haven’t seen anyone write for mom!ava) idk what else. But I’m just in the mood for mom Ava. Also, please put mom figure Melissa to y/n and Mel has her happy ending in relationships :,)
Been waving this one off for a while so here ya go anon! :)
Their daughter’s name is Hallie and it’s implied that she’s mixed.
————————————
“I even cut your strawberries into hearts!” Ava exclaimed placing a plate of pancakes in front of Hallie, she also put some fruit on the plate and a placed a small glass of orange juice on the table. “Tank you, mom!” She smiled, she ate her breakfast quickly, throughly enjoying her strawberries and taking nibbles of her pancake at a time. Y/n was upstairs getting ready, already having eaten. Ava was packing the little girls lunch, making sure to put her water bottle in the pocket of her backpack.
“Good morning to my two favorite girls!” Y/n smiled, placing her bag down on one of the chairs placing a kiss on Hallie’s bunny cheeks. “Good morning, Mama!” “Good morning, baby”
Y/n also placed a small peck on Ava’s lips, she might’ve been stubborn and might not do her job sometimes, but she really cared for the kids, she always wanted to be a mom.
Now, that dream has come true, she’s a mom to the cutest daughter, though, she might not be hers biologically that didn’t stop the little girl from calling her Mom. The best part was she gets to help raise this little girl with the love of her life. She may have been a player but she knew when she saw y/n that she was the one. As cheesy as it sounds, Ava couldn’t have fallen faster or harder. Falling for y/n was like falling face first into pavement for Ava.
They all got into Ava’s car, Hallie sat in her booster seat and happily played on her iPad as they drove to the school. Her backpack, sat next to her the sequins shining in the sunlight.
Ava never thought that she was gonna actually fall in love with one of her Co-workers. She’d flirt, yes, but never actually date any of them.
That was were y/n came in, she transferred to Abbott as a new first grade teacher. She charmed everyon
Ava was playing ‘Pick Up Your Feelings’ by Jazmine Sullivan, it was one of her favorites, actually. Even Hallie seemed to have learned some of the lyrics from how many times Ava’s played it. Though, if anything, Ava listens to Beyoncé the most.
You need to hurry and pick up your, ooh, feelings
While I'm up cleaning
Boy please (boy please, oh)
I don't need you (I don't need you)
Y/n let a smile take over her face as she looked out her window, nothing could’ve ruined this moment. Everything she could’ve needed was right here. Her life was perfect as it was and she wouldn’t change it for anything.
Her job might’ve not been a six figure paying job but it brought her memories that were priceless, her job might’ve been stressful but it helped the next generation. She couldn’t have wished for anything more. “You okay, baby?” Ava asked, placing a hand on her thigh, the principal’s brows furrowed, stealing a glance at her girlfriend.
”Yeah, just a little tired, I could go for some coffee right now” The woman yawned, regretting her choice of just drinking orange juice. Ava smirked, she made a U-turn to Starbucks, “We have some extra time anyway so why not make a pit stop?” Hallie giggled in the back, “Can I get a cake pop, pwease!”
Y/n nodded, she thought it was cute when she got lazy and forgot to pronounce the ‘L’ sound. It seemed like yesterday she couldn’t talk at all. “Well, I already know what to get everyone, then!”
——————
Ava made jokes about how the barista looked like 50 cent the whole ride to Abbott. They arrived a little bit early but they didn’t mind, Getting out of the car, Ava unbuckled Hallie out of her seat.
“Ready for school, lil’ curly fry?” She smiled, chuckled as she tousled the little girl’s curly hair that was nicely slicked back into a half up, half down hairdo.
Hallie threw up a thumbs up, holding Ava’s hand and y/n’s in the other, not many cars were parked in the lot. The three entered the only person visible was Mr. Johnson.
He nodded at the to grown woman and smiled at the little girl. It was safe to say that Mr. Johnson was Hallie’s favorite person at school, besides Mel and Barb.
Ava gave y/n a soft kiss, and gave Hal a peck on the forehead. “Have a good day, you two” she said before walking to the break room, y/n unlocked her classroom door, letting Hallie in, she flicked on the lights. She usually just let her color until the bell rang signaling that she needed to go to Barb’s class.
“I have to go to the break room, will you be okay by yourself for a few minutes?” Y/n asked, placing a hand on her daughter’s shoulder. The little girl nodded, her attention not faltering from her coloring page.
Leaving her classroom, she trusted her young daughter to finish the coloring page, quickly coming into the break room she grabbed a donut happily munching down on the sweet treat, “There ya are! Was wondering you was! Where’s the kid?” Melissa questions, looking around to make sure she wasn’t hiding. Y/n laughed, leaning against the counter, “In my room, I’ll go grab her for you”
Being a woman of her word, the teacher walked back to her class, before she reached the door she heard a thud and a “uh oh..”
Y/n hurried into the room to see Hallie standing next to her desk, a cup in hand. She tried hiding the coffee puddle that was clearly on the ground, even her clothes were stained a dark brown color.
“Hal..what did you do!” She exclaimed, picking up the little girl and sitting her on the chair, quickly cleaning up the mess. “I’m sorry Mama, I didn’ mean to” her little head fell to her lap, seeing her clothes now ruined, she pouted, hating when she made her mama upset.
“It’s alright, sweet girl. Just be more careful, okay?” She cooed, kissing her cheek with a smile to let her know she wasn’t upset. “Go see your Mom while I clean this up,” the girl nodded, hopping off the chair and hurriedly running out of the classroom.
On the way, Hallie saw Melissa she waved and hugged the second grade teacher, “Mornin’ to you too, kid” she said sweetly, missing the coffee stains on the child’s clothes.
Continuing her journey to her Mom’s office, she knocked and spoke in between the crack between the door and frame. “Mommy!” She called, the sounded muffled by the metal, shuffling was heard on the other side, Ava opened the door with a sweet smile.
A cough was heard behind the girl, The principal lifted her head to see a whole camera crew behind her. “Oh, damn” she let her jaw drop, ushering her daughter into the office, she stared the crew down as they all wore shocked faces.
“Go on doing whatever it is y’all do”
Ava closed the door, turning to the little girl who was sitting in her chair looking at the picture of Y/n, Hallie, and Ava. It was the picture they took at when they had gone on vacation last year. “You like it, baby girl?” She chuckled, grabbing some news clothes in the makeshift closet The principal made in her closet. It was quite impressive how she could hardly do her job as a principal but somehow renovate a old storage room into a high fashion closet in less than a day.
Hallie quickly got her clothes on, hugging the taller woman tightly. “Bye Mommy!”
Though the morning was joyful and peaceful, since the coffee accident Hallie’s little day went tragically wrong. She had miss placed her lunch, hurt her knee during P.E., she couldn’t color inside the lines, She couldn’t even sleep during nap time because this girl in her class sleep kicked, At lunch time. Miss Howard had sat the little girl down.
“Sweetheart, what’s the matter? You’ve been upset all day!” She exclaimed, listening intently for an answer, the little girl only crossed arms and huffed, realizing she had no other way to get her to crack due to y/n being in a meeting. She brought her to the break room, “Melissa, help me with this one. Do you want to tell Aunt Mel what’s the matter?” Hal only, hugged into the red headed teacher, “Oh, hon..what’s got you in all worked up, huh?” She asked, Hallie finally spoke up huffing, she really did have her mothers attitude.
“I want my Mommy!” She pouted, crossing her arms, Barb groaned, “She’s more stubborn than her Mother, but we can’t get y/n she’s in a meeting!”
No one on the staff had figured out y/n was dating Ava let alone it was serious, Hallie had done a pretty good job keeping it on the down low too. Everyone didn’t really put two and two together when they’d see Ava coming out of her car with y/n. Now that Melissa thinks about it, maybe they’re not bestfriends.
Though, Melissa couldn’t jump to conclusions, “Well, I dunno, I guess we’ll-” Melissa was interupted by the sound of a familar sound of yawning as the breakroom door opened, “Oh hello, you three! Everything alright?” Y/n said, dropping her keys and lanyard on the counter, ripping open a granola bar that she had grabbed from the shelf.
“She’s been upset all day and won’t tell anybody the reason why..” Melissa cooed, booping th kindergarteners nose, she only cuddled closer and pouted even more, “she says she wants her Mommy, so here ya go!” The redhead stood up placing the little girl in her mothers arms, y/n sighed knowing it wasn’t her that she wanted.
Y/n comtemplated fessing up, Ava and had had been keeping it under wraps for so long, so surely, they’ll understand. Melissa was like y/n’s work mom, or real mom actually.
”Okay, don’t make a big deal out of this..but i’m dating Ava! Surprise!” Y/n smiled, Barb’s face dropped in shocked, Mel lit up, “I KNEW IT!” she exclaimed, clapping her hand together and jabbing her finger in the younger teachers direction.
Really, the young woman thought their reactions would be more complicated, Well, at least Barb’s. She just kept standing their with her mouth agape. As if the two had been stalking, Janine and Jacob stumbled in, “GREGORY OWES ME!” Jacob squealed, Janine happily shuffled from side to side with that big smile. Gregory stands speechless, looking at the two who’ve dragged him into another one of their adventures.
“Well, I’m gonna take this one to Ava, see y’all!”
—————
“Well, a knock would’ve been nice but come in wit’ yo’ fine self” Ava smirked, biting her lower lip as she eyed her up and down. Y/n rolled her eyes, “what? Acting like you can give me attitude knowing I can eat that body up like Megan Thee Stallion” She slapped her hand on her desk, laughing hard at her own joke. Y/n huffed, closing her eyes trying to hold onto any piece of patience she had left with her girlfriend, someday she really might explode from these jokes. In the mean time, she’ll secretly like them.
“Why you huffin’ and puffin’ like a choo-choo train?” She asked, y/n went to go tell her the reason why she was even in here but Ava was determined in finishing. “Chugga, Chugga, CHOO CHOO!” She howled and slapped her knee, almost falling out of her chair, Hallie began to laugh too. “You kinda do soun’ like a train, Mama” Ava smirked as y/n groaned, “That’s my lil’ curly fry!” She laughed, opening her arms up for the little girl. Hallie giggled, squealing when the principal would tickle her sides.
Y/n’s frustrations quickly disappeared, it had only been 6 months, yet, Ava’s changed so much. They’d been dating for 4 months, only recently did Hallie start saying Mom to Ava. Now that y/n takes a moment to see the impact this woman had on her life and the little human she called her daughter she melted.
Maybe Melissa was wrong for once. They may think that Ava’s rude or stupid for not doing her job, but she cared, no doubt about it. She’d Show softness here and there but never frequently, Lord help them if she ever was caught being nice to Janine.
Y/n noticed too, Ava seemed a little nice since they’d gotton together. Melissa just thinks she’s up to something but y/n couldn’t help but think it was because she was changing as a person, principal, and now…parent.
“She wanted her mommy” Y/n mocked, smirking as Ava’s eyes lit up. She loved that little girl more than any other little girl. She would knowingly drop everything for that girl. “Really? Oh, come ‘ere you cutie!” She hugged her tight, y/n playfully sighed, looking away with her hand on her forehead. Ava chuckled, “You too, doofus” the woman opened her arm out for her girlfriend kissing her lips softly.
A shriek was heard at the door, they whipped their heads around to see the same familiar faces at the door. Melissa’s face was most likely impressed (then again you never know), Janine was probably the one that shrieked as she jumped up and down, Gregory’s eyes were wide, Jacob was frozen like Barbara.
“Uhm, suprise?” Y/n chuckled, looking at Ava kissing her cheek sweetly turning back to them with a large smile.
———
The two women explained to them how long they’ve been dating, the Abbott crew listened carefully and happily. Barb was still in shock, Ava and y/n wasn’t something they thought would actually get together. Sure, they were polar opposites but they fit so well together.
The rest of the school day was quite interesting with Melissa lecturing Ava on how if she ever hurt y/n she’s got a guy who take care of the principal real quick.
“I got my eye on you, Coleman” Melissa said, with a stern tone, slowly walking back to her class while staring the tall woman down. Y/n snorted, “don’t mind her, she’s just trying to scare you” y/n smiled, hugging Ava tightly, “I know, but I don’t think I’d ever willingly leave you, baby. Someone would have to physically restrain me, I love you and lil’ Hal too much” She admitted all too easily, to her this was all she wanted for the rest of her life. Of course, someday she’d get down on a bended knee, she planned on getting married, maybe even get a dog?
Who knows, only time will tell.
But maybe this won’t even work, then someday they’ll see this as a learning experience. But if there was one thing they everyone knew, was that they were meant to be together, whether or not if it was the right time, place, or even moment.
They’d up together, that’s how it was in every universe. So, whatever happened in this one, maybe they’d mess up and separate or even just drift apart. They needed each other, in every universe.
Time is something no one is Master of, but this story surely ends happily.
——
As the day ended, Melissa waved bye to her colleagues, smiling as she saw y/n and Ava give each other a small peck on the lips, they were cute together that was for sure. Maybe someday she’d-
“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry!” A voice apologized profusely, Mel had been too focused on the couple in the distance she wasn’t even focusing on where she was walking.
“It’s fine, really” Melissa chuckled, fixing her hair before looking up to see..damn. The woman in front of her was absolutely gorgeous, she felt her heart flutter for second. “Erm, hi, I’m lissame! No, sorry, Melissa! Melissa Schemmenti” she gave a bashful smile, securing her bag onto her shoulder once more.
“I’m Georgia Prescott, the new librarian”
huh. Looks like Abbott’s in for another love story.

“Panther,” comes the deep, familiar robotic voice of Griot over the intercom in the office, “the time is now six o’clock-”
“-yes, yes, Griot, thank you,” Shuri mumbles, brushing off the inanimate being as she usually did when she was nose deep into her reports, barely registering the words it had said.
“Panther, I was asked to remind you of your date, which is scheduled for seven o’clock this evening.”
Shit, the word rings in her head, but she isn’t all that sure if it stayed in her head.
“I was told to be firm in my reminder,” Griot adds, “should I enact a stricter voice prompt?”
“No, no,” says the royal, pushing aside the document she had finished looking over into the pile of completed reports. There were still a few pages on to the right of her, but those could be reserved for tomorrow, “I’m coming, I’m coming.”
“Good,” comes another voice as Shuri rises from her desk, and the sound of it makes a smile creep to her lips, “otherwise who knows; he may have put on my voice.”
Your figure leans against the threshold of the office, and it visibly comforts the other as Shuri makes her way to greet you. “I said I was coming, darling.”
“What, I can’t come to visit you now?”
“Well, we both know the kind of distraction you pose.”
A playful punch meets the royal's forearm, and Shuri laughs as she comes to envelop you into a tight embrace. It acts as a thank you for relieving her from her work, something she is far too easily susceptible to.
“I take it you’ve planned something for this evening?” Shuri asks as she loosens her hold, her hands still resting on your forearms.
“Nothing too drastic,” you reassure her, “you’ve been busy with the turn of the year; I figured a nice, quiet evening in would do us both good.”
Shuri agrees, the prospect of her work lost to her now that she is in your presence. As you pull her through the threshold, she taps on the wall twice to turn off the light in the office, the door closing and locking behind the pair.
“I also have a bunch of movies lined up.” You hum in excitement.
“Is that so?”
“Griot helped me break through Netflix’s firewall,” you reply proudly, “so now I can show you all the cringiest love movies on my list!”
Shuri doesn’t object, however, jokingly or otherwise. She just presses a kiss to your temple and lets you ramble off about the movies in question, excited for the night ahead.

summary : just a little eye contact with a pretty girl, what that can lead to? (Description of being madly in love)
a/n : just something I think about while listening to this song 🤭
Your focus was on the professor’s voice, his words on explaining the human anatomy. Fingers typing on your keyboard to drop down the notes on your laptop, then your gaze slowly went back to the professor.
It has always been like this, never a distraction was caused. There’s only 3 things will get your attention during class, which is the professor, your laptop, and maybe some documents on the table. Never caring about the people in the same room as you.
But this girl with short curls, sharp jawline, and a tall figure seemed to made an exception. Whenever the professor seemed to ask a question, she’ll answer in with full confidence, and later on, get it correct.
You sat by at a cafe on campus, studying for your finals. But your mind doesn’t want to put the attention on it, instead, it started wandering over that girl in class. You groaned in frustration, taking your glasses off hoping you could focus.
And failed. You even start to suspect do you like her, but all you know from her is that she’s a beautiful woman. That’s not worth to be a distraction from class, and again, you tried to find your ways back to focusing on your studies.
-
As usual, you show up to class, pay attention, and do what a student would do.
Putting your full attention on the professor’s words, as you try to understand how he explains everything. There it goes again, the girl. Your gaze slowly move from your laptop screen, to her, sitting in the next row.
Whats surprising is that she seemed to notice your gaze, and she seemed to been staring at you for quite a while. Her beautiful brown eyes, her face originally in your direction, immediately changing the moment you decided to take a glance at her.
Her side profile now displays, as her eyes started to scan at random objects. Taking a pen, and looking at it like it’s her first time discovering about a pen. She looks at it like it’s a beautiful and precious diamond.
You started blushing slightly, and you place a hand to cover your smile while you lean back to chuckle softly at her reaction. Your heart was fluttering, blossoms were blooming in your stomach, butterflies dancing in your heart. You tried to hold in your soft smile and went back to the class, but oh, how hard is it when those few seconds of eye contact literally became a core memory to you.
Your gaze started to slowly go back to her, she was grinning like an idiot. Her face resting on her palm, as her gaze maybe on the laptop screen, but she seems like she was thinking of something.
-
Class ended, and what you’ve learnt? nothing, but realised the seemingly cocky girl could also blush. You may had learnt nothing, or understood anything during class, but at least you did share a few seconds of eye contact with that beautiful girl right?
But what comes next to is unexpected, you were packing to leave the classroom, but she approached you, oh that soft and raspy voice.
“Hey…I’ve been noticing you in class for a few times, and you’re really beautiful.”
beautiful?
You giggled sweetly, and moved around in your seat, as you look up at her through your curls,
“you’re really beautiful too.” When you open your eyes from the small laugh to look at her. She literally lost her focus while holding the eye contact with you, your pupils were reflecting a sparkly light, your lips curved into a sweet smile, your long curls around your head.
“thanks…do you mind if I get your number?”
“yeah…sure” she handed you her phone, and you typed your phone number in also adding your name to the contact name. She took it back, and look at the name. “y/n?”
“mhm. well now since you got my name…what’s yours?” You showed that smile again, while looking up at her waiting for her response. There was a long pause, like really long. And that made you tilting your head and touching her forearm asking her what’s wrong.
“Oh uhm, I’m shuri.”
“Shuri…sweet name you got.”
She chuckled from that, ‘well that was hot’ you thought. Looking at her smile, as you snapped out of the trance.
“you’re so fine.”
“oh really?” You asked and giggling again, while packing your stuff. “Yeah…like hella fine.”
“I swear if you keep giving me these compliments, my heart will die from a heart attack.” You said jokingly, getting up from your seat, and the height comparison wasn’t that obvious but it was.
“Well I’m just saying how beautiful you are, is it my fault now?” She softly said, while looking at you like you’re the only girl in this world. Like you’re the pen she was looking at earlier during class. “no…never was. tell me more in the texts.” You softly said ready to leave and go for your next class, when she licked her lips and smiled at you
“text me alright?
“I sure will…y/n.”
And that’s when you left the class with a smile on your face.
Summary: Monica and Y/n surprise eachother by making it home for Christmas!
WC: 651
A/n: Heyyy So I have been wanting to put a fic out for Monica for a minute and i thought a Christmas one would be perfect! Also you can request for her as well!
Christmas was always Monica’s favorite holiday as the traditions that she made with her mom and Carol before she left always meant a lot to her. But now with Maria gone Christmas kinda felt empty in a way and Monica didn’t even know how she was going to get through another year of the holiday season with her mother. But she had you this time as the two of you had gotten together before the bout of you had disappeared for 5 years you had to come to the hard realization that you are all she had.
You were in the car silently driving in the direction of your and Monica’s home. You had honestly thought that you weren’t even gonna make it for Christmas this year considering that Furt decided to be petty and give you Monica assignments that were separate but in 2 different places. While you were across the world she was in space and you had watched every single day considering that Christmas was extremely close if you were even going to make it this year. You would feel bad if Monica had to spend Christmas alone so you made sure that you finished up with your assignment quickly so that you could make it to see your wife.
Now you're still driving as you chose to drive yourself and you wanted to take the time and think how you were going to bear Christmas this year. Although you didn’t tell Monica you were coming home she didn’t even know herself if she was going to make it and that is what she had told you to be held up at the space base. But you soon pulled up to your house grabbing your backpack as you got out of the car and made your way to the front door. You fished for your keys in your bag as you soon realized you heard a noise coming from the inside. Automatically you got into defense mode as you slowly pulled out your keys and put them into the door without making too much noise.
As soon as you opened the door it was quiet and dark and you looked around the room to see if anything had been damaged or stolen to the best of your ability since it was dark you soon sighed with relief as you turned on the light switch and you were met with Monica standing only a few feet away from you. The look on both of your faces made it seem like you both saw a ghost. “ Moni?” You said quietly under your breath but the obvious silence is what made her year your easily and without hesitation Monica ran over to you and jumped in your arms as the two of you hugged each other tightly as you both missed the smell and touch of one another.
“ why didn’t you tell me you were coming!” Monica shouted as she pulled away to look at you. The smile and the joy on her face just made you instantly feel content and with peace because the one thing you promised yourself was the be the key to her happiness for the rest of both of your lives and in this moment you felt like you accomplished that better than ever.
“First why didn’t you tell me you were coming home? You had me thinking you were going to be alone for Christmas. Had me all worried and shit” you said briefly as you questioned her like you weren’t also guilty for not telling her you were coming home for Christmas. “ Ma I think we got bigger things to talk about with the both of us trying to surprise each other,” Monica said as she looked you in your eyes. She then grabbed your hand and she guided you to the kitchen to make you your favorite thing around this time of year.
a/n: fluff is not my strong suit :/ but i adore this woman so i did it anyway | wc: 1.5k
You were friends before it happened - long-time colleagues. You were there for her when she came back from the snap, hugging her so tightly after missing her for five years and you were there to comfort her with the loss of her mother.
Each time she needed to cry, you were there. Each time she needed to sit in silence, you were there. You had both experienced loss and pain and complete anguish; everything you knew had changed within the blink of an eye, your closest friend had turned to dust, half of the world along with her, and for half a decade you lived with emptiness.
You found a home with Maria with your shared loss. You stayed by her side through the empty space her daughter left behind and you stayed with her when the end rolled around. You promised her to never forget Monica and, if the time arose, to let her know her mother would always be with her in some kind of way.
Just as those times before, you were there for her when she changed. When a newfound surge coursed through her body with a foreign buzz of electricity. You helped her learn, to come to terms with the new reality that was thrust upon her. It takes an uncomfortable period of readjustment to make peace with the fact you’ve changed so greatly; hands that once were merely soft now held power.
She’d flinch away to begin with. Any time your own hands dared too close to hers she’d pull away before anything could happen, though your earnest reassurance was comforting it didn’t change her fear. She never wants to hurt you.
But Monica trusted you and your words of kindness through it all; you told her she wasn't dangerous and she listened.
—
Her head lay in your lap and your fingers absentmindedly played with a piece of her hair. Despite it all, she'd developed a new appreciation for sitcoms and her favourite played out on the television in front of you.
Monica had called you earlier in the day with tears straining her voice, the old shirt that belonged to her mother was soft against her skin but the pain of loss was just as sharp as ever. You were the only person she wanted to be there with her through her grief, the only one she would dare to let in when the empty space left behind consumed her.
“It’s okay,” you whispered when she opened the door to let you in - you'd discarded everything else to be there for her. She clung to you whilst cries shook her body and you knew you didn't have to say anything, you just had to be there. “It’s okay, I’m here.”
You scoured her cupboards for her favourite tea and you couldn't help but mirror the small smile she mustered when she took the mug you offered to her.
“Can we watch Bewitched?” she mumbled once the quiet of your company had soothed her. Her voice was muffled behind her cup and you could see the sheepish smile that quirked her lips in the way the skin beside her eyes crinkled.
“Of course.”
The sound of her laugh was enough to let you know you'd helped. Her body relaxed when she flung herself over your legs despite the discomfort you felt; she only muttered a teasing remark at the huff you let out.
“I’m literally an orphan, the least you can do is suffer a little cramp.”
You couldn't help but laugh at your best friend and she giggled at the shove you gave her at her comment but, of course, you let her stay.
—
“Wow, for someone with superpowers you're not much of an opponent, Rambeau,” you mocked, wiping the sweat that had formed across your forehead.
“Just takin’ it easy on you,” she smirked, letting the white glow take over her eyes for just a second.
“Scared your sparring partner’s better than you?” you joked, throwing a punch she easily dodged.
“Oh, I wouldn't be so sure of yourself,” she laughed.
Over time you'd quelled her fear of training with you. What had been a regular occurrence had dwindled to nothing and practicing your hand-to-hand skills with anybody else was nowhere near as fun.
But with her, reassurance is key, and now she almost resents the fact she’d rid you of your partner for so long.
However, her certainty faced its challenger once more when a spark of power knocked you off your feet.
“Mon, it's fine, I promise,” you uttered again as her shaking hand swiped a cloth across the bleeding cut that decorated the apple of your cheek.
“No, it's not, “ she signed. Again. You groaned at her stubbornness and let the quiet between you linger; you pushed down the way you wanted to wince at the sting and instead focused in on the softness of her fingers on your skin. The gentle way they held your jaw.
“Got any fun band-aids?”
“Of course,” she answered with a smile that pulled at her cheeks. “I keep them for you.”
The way your heart beat faster at her sentiment was laced with melancholic trepidation. You never meant to fall like this but Monica was your ray of sun.
“I’m sorry,” she spoke as a caring touch applied a bandage to your injury. “I’ll practice more - I’ll control it better. I can't hurt you again. I’m-”
“If the word sorry comes out of your mouth one more time I’ll make sure I win the next fight.”
“Fine,” she sighed and took the hand you offered. “I just don't trust myself around you.”
She masked the hidden meaning of her words behind a small smile when you gave her hand a reassuring squeeze.
“I think it might be impossible for you to hurt me, Monica Rambeau,” you breathed, feeling the heat of her body with how close you were. “Lunch is on you.”
—
You lay beside her beneath the darkened night sky and hung on her every word as she spoke.
You listened to her talk about the stars, looking over at her to see her hands move in front of her with each passionate mumble; you know that with each glance you take at her it's as though she placed them up in space just for you.
Her voice was the utmost comfort to you; whether it was voicing facts or aggravated rantings about the absence of her aunt. She's uttered her appreciation for you more times than you can count; the stability of your presence that never wavers. If you let yourself linger on the truth, you'd know you couldn't bear to be without her. She couldn't be without you.
“I’ve been working on something for you,” she announced, pulling you to sit next to her. You'd not noticed the comfortable silence that had surrounded you though you suppose that's just a perk of being so close to somebody. Even the quiet is enough to feel like home.
“You have?”
The way she nodded with a grin made your cheeks warm and the nudging of her leg into yours brought the painful wave of bliss to the surface.
“Mhm.”
Her hands glowed, fingers guiding patterns of light between you in swirls of pulsing electricity. Something about the soft buzz of it against your palms reminded you of her, of your stomach when you think of her laugh.
She let the power entwine itself around your hands, tickling against you with shapes resembling that of the night sky above you. She showed you incandescent glimmers of handmade constellations, white light glowing at your fingertips. The warming of your body when her hand brushed yours was overwhelming.
“If I could reach up there and give you a star of your own, I would,” she whispered. The earnest glint in her eye made it impossible to keep the bashful smile you gave her at bay. “Thank you.”
“What for?”
“For everything. For being here. For staying with my mom. For being you,” she spoke, sliding her fingers between yours as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Of course,” you returned. You couldn't imagine a time where you wouldn't leave it all behind for her. The stroking of your thumb over hers filled her with yearning. She loves you but she's scared to say it. How could you love her in return?
“Why’re you so good to me, hm?”
“Because you're you.”
Monica cupped your face in her hand with nothing but softness and her eyes were just as adoringly gentle; her thumb swiped across your bottom lip with a curious musing, aching to rid you both of the space that separated you.
“I love you,” she whispered with her lips ghosting yours, sighing against you when you closed that wretched gap that kept you apart.
Your lips slotted together as though they were made to be this way, her tongue was created for you to taste and just like a perfectly concocted elixir, it was sweeter than anything. You felt drunk on the feel of her; the hands she placed on your waist, the tongue she pushed past your lips.
Just like the stars that shone above your bodies that clung together, you know this moment will exceed you. The shared feelings will last longer than either of you could begin to comprehend.
And when she pulled away for you both to breathe, you ached to taste her again.
