hey all, my name is mary and I’m a queer Jewish femme from MN. i started this go fund me to hopefully get some help in paying some bills.

to preface, i recently completed a partial hospitalization program for mental health and have been out of work for about 2 months. (thankfully, i was recently hired for a job but won’t see any real money from it for about 2 weeks.) while in program, i essentially used my credit card and took out a small bank loan to live off of. i have other bills piling up and two cats to feed, so as you might expect, i’m anxious to pay these bills so i can feel some sense of relief, but hopefully my paychecks from my new job will take care of the smaller expenses. the reason i’m turning to others is because my family has openly refused to assist me any further. as hurtful as this is, i have to accept this and find other means to support myself.

i’m asking for $1500 which will pay off the credit card bill and the small bank loan ive accrued. literally ANYTHING will help me. the sooner i can settle this, the easier things will be for now. if you can help me, i will love you and be forever grateful. thanks for reading.

I just keep thinking about how I felt on election night 2016 at around 10pm when it started looking bad and when I started crying around midnight and when it was announced he won around 2am and I was crying so hard I made myself physically sick out of pure terror

and I think about all of the horrible things he and his people have done over the last 2 years and of all the things they have promised to do if they win again and my hands shake and I’m filled with a dread that hasn’t left me since he announced he was running for president over 3 years ago

so while I anxiety myself to sleep I ask that every one please consider why voting matters to you and if it doesn’t then please think about why it matters to me

my life as a woman and as a lesbian are on the line tomorrow

the lives of people of color, trans people, jewish people, disabled people, muslim people, immigrants, refugees, people who have the audacity to be a human with human illnesses

the life of our very planet is at stake here

“I’m studying human rights.  It’s a long way off, but one day I’d like to be a lawyer and protect vulnerable populations in Africa.  My mother is African but I grew up in France.  In high school I went on a humanitarian mission to provide health and education for a village in Senegal.  There was no water.  There was no electricity.  We visited a small orphanage where the children had to beg for their food every day.  They had no choice, because if they came back with nothing, they didn’t eat.  I cried myself to sleep that night.  And when I returned to France, I felt guilty for everything: for living where I live, for having a family, for growing up in a rich country with education and healthcare.  I didn’t tell many people about my experience.  I didn’t want it to seem like a trophy.  And I was aware of the irony because France colonized Senegal.  But that trip opened my eyes to the opportunities I’d been taking for granted.  It made me appreciate the choices that I have in life.  And since those choices are a privilege, I want to use them to help other people.” (Johannesburg, South Africa)
