Percy's Curse

In The Lightning Thief Ares cursed Percy and said when he needed his sword most it would fail him. All of us, including Percy, thought that that occurred when he was fighting Atlas. But if you think about it, he needed his sword most when he faced the god Tartarus, and that’s when his sword fell out of his hand. Annabeth even said she had never seen Percy like that before…..

This is interesting but.. Think back a little sooner. What did Percy need more than anything when Annabeth was tangled in spider silk, and she was being dragged into the put. His sword. And what was too far away to reach, making him unable to cut her free. His sword.

What if Ares’s curse is lasting? Ares still hates Percy, so maybe as long as he holds that grudge the curse will last. Whenever Percy is in a situation where he needs his sword, Ares’s curse is there and makes sure he can’t get it
