one of my students went missing today at graduation. he attempted suicide last night so this was a 5 alarm situation. thankfully we found him safe and sound doing normal teenager things.

get home from graduation to find out that a student from 2022 died in a motorcycle accident this afternoon.

this school year can fuck right off.

listen in the year of our lord 2026 many good names are taken so I cycle through three depending on what's available:

youth pastor growing up was not like a regular youth pastor and rebranded Wednesday night church as uth group (pronounced like youth).

I had to explain to a group of elementary schoolers at church camp what being "washed by the blood of Jesus" meant. I gave a real theologically questionable explanation comparing sin to BO and penal substitutionary atonement with taking a shower. The line that my co-counselor never let me forget was "and now we smell like Jesus!"

One of my kids puked on their way back to class. Like, right outside my door. I get it, sometimes the impending barf feeling happens too fast and you can't find a trash can.

It took FORTY-FIVE MINUTES for the janitorial staff to come by and mop it up because every time they were on the way to my room they kept getting sidetracked by piles of vomit in other places.

Either this kid was painting the walls of the entire school or we have a stomach bug outbreak the week before Spring Break.

Then I saw it was the same dude who left me with -2 chargers and -1 TI-84 the last time he was in my room (not to mention two noise complaints from nearby teachers).

I will still be arguing with my lungs at home like God intended but boy howdy I am not looking forward to seeing what the damage is on Friday.
