finished. my intention isn't to make grand paintings, just to get back to drawing and enjoy it, and, most importantly, to let go of the need for perfection. i did it by hand and kept the sketch lines.
Imagine being a martial arts and a scrap collector god, living 800 years in misery, alone and full of bad luck, but with so much love to give, and finding your happiness alongside the only person who ever had unwavering faith in you even after seeing you at your worst.
stupid, emotional, obsessive little me
The way Hua Cheng says "it's not your fault" and "you, not the state of you" and "there's no banquet that doesn't come to an end" and that all of these Xie Lian said first. It truly showcases just how highly Hua Cheng thinks of Xie Lian, that so often he decides the best way to support Xie Lian is by repeating Xie Lian's own words back to him, like he can't think of anything better or more fitting in these moments. And every time he does it he's saying, "I listen when you talk, I hear what you say, and I think you're right" to a man who has been ignored and maligned and alone for almost all his life. It's one of the sweetest possible things Hua Cheng could do.
“To die in battle for you is my greatest honor.”
Imagine that Hua Cheng can't stop staring into Xie Lian's beautiful deer eyes. They're so lovely and round, dark in such an earthy, coffee-like color, warm and welcoming. Then, his eyes end up not being the only thing he notices, his gaze falling to his lips, small, slightly full; his throat contracting and relaxing as he eats; his broad shoulders, descending into lean muscles, deceptive to those unaware of his strength.
"What was that?", Xie Lian asked, his cheeks flushed with the realization that he was being watched with a great deal of... passion.
Hua Cheng didn't answer; he had nothing to say, he didn't know what to say, actually. He approached, embraced Xie Lian by the waist with one arm until their bodies pressed together, closed the fingers of his other hand in the hair at the nape of his neck and pulled down. Xie Lian let out a sigh through his lips, half startled by the sudden movement, half coy.
Kissing Xie Lian was always... something that turned his body and head upside down, that made his heart beat again. He felt like he was going to explode in hundreds of butterflies. But also... an insatiable hunger, as if he had never eaten in his entire life. And he always wanted more.
I'm addicted on Olivia Rodrigo's new song, drop dead, and I can't help but imagine that's exactly how Xie Lian would be with Hua Cheng on their first date (or vice versa, let's be honest).
Like, Xie Lian was already completely smitten with Hua Cheng before their first meeting, and now he was completely and hopelessly in love, unable to stop looking at him and thinking about how handsome, cute, charming, kind, and intelligent, and ahhh so many things, he was!
He lost. Xie Lian had no hope before, after spending weeks stalking Hua Cheng on social media, seeing every post from him and his friends, but now? Now he had no choice but to make Hua Cheng understand that they belonged together. That he belongs to him.
The prodigal son returns….. again.
Xie Lian was definitely in the middle of scrap collecting when he got swept back to the Heavens.

i was listening the chain by fleetwood mac and I couldn't help but relate this song to barry, clark, and bruce/reader. silver springs also by fleetwood mac also goes very well with them. the mc will undoubtedly haunt their narrative forever, for better or for worse. whether they like it or not, they will always love them and will remain trapped in this chain that binds them. sorry im here for the toxic, tragic romance.
Hiiii. Will you believe me if I said I hadn't actually heard those songs before now? Like I do get the sense I had heard them before in a show or in the radio, but never paying attention to the lyrics and you're so so right!
It's funny that you describe Heartlines as toxic and tragic romance bc it wasn't originally meant to be that but it describes it perfectly . Also, Silver Springs absolutely sounds like a song Y/N would relate to:
"Blue green colors flashin'"- makes sense to me in the HC that I have that both Bruce and Clark have blue eyes and Barry has green eyes
"And don't say that she's pretty. And did you say that she love you. Baby, I don't wanna know"- the involvement of another person, of another "she" makes me think of Lois and Iris in this scenario and how Y/N didn't want to admit what was happening
"So I'll begin not to love you. Turn around, see me runnin'. I'll say I loved you years ago. Tell myself you never loved me, no"- This is exactly what she wanted to do, wanted to pretend she didn't love them anymore, run away and tell herself this wasn't real love anyways.
"Oh, can you tell me was it worth it. Baby, I don't wanna know"- This hits heavy, knowing what her last face to face words were to all of them. She basically asked them if losing her in exchange for whatever else was going on in their lives was worth it. She didn't wait for the answer because she didn't want to know it... and yet, she felt like she already did.
"But I know I could have loved you but you would not let me, go ahead and try. I know I could have loved you but you would not let me, was I just a fool?"- This line in particular makes me think of Bruce. I know I haven't delved deep into the backstory before the tragic events but, for context, please know that she met Bruce before Clark and Barry, but he was the last to join the relationship/have his heartlines lightened up because he didn't allow himself to have that connection.
"I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you, give me just a chance. You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you, was I just a fool?"- These lines are perfect because I do think she haunts her every action, even if they try to run, if they try to forget, they never could. Both because of the heartlines connecting them still, even if weakly, and because the love they shared was just too intense to simply fade away.
Thank you for sending this! Love to hear new music and hear what you think about how it relates to my fics.
That's why I connected these songs to them! They love her, but they're insecure and jealous, so they're still afraid to fully commit, and that's why they let happen what happens. It was a cause-and-effect situation, a lack of communication from all three parties, even though she was trying to balance all three relationships and make everyone happy. She gave herself completely, but they wouldn't let her love them. At the same time, they love her completely, and no matter how much they (especially Clark and Barry) try to erase her and replace her with Louis and Iris.
I see Bruce as the most "cursed" of the three, because unlike the others, he doesn't have someone to replace her. So he is "doomed" to have only her, even if he denies it, and that's why he refuses to "move on" (Clark and Barry didn't move on either, but they pretend they did). But I also see Clark as the one who would feel the most guilty for everything that happened after the accident. Her body isn't prepared for his and Barry's powers, but she still uses them out of necessity or because she's forced to due to all the torture she endures from doctors. when he finds out that every time he heard her heart beat and stop multiple times, and that his powers caused her to lose her sight several times, GIRL, he was going INSANE KAKAKA
As for Barry, I see him going through grief in a more "life takes me where it will" way. Like, things just happen and he lets himself go with the flow. Clark lets himself be manipulated and used by Lois, and he pretends not to notice, and he pretends to be over it in a very crude way, refusing to let himself be carried away by more sensitive feelings, leaving only anger. This would be different from Barry, who deals with it in a more "indifferent" way, trying to ignore what he feels but without success. And Bruce, I see him as unable to either pretend or accept it.
Of course, everything is just my interpretation of everything I've read about their universe and their version of the characters, plus my imagination of what might come next. In any case, for me, these three are completely cursed by heartlines (in a toxic romantic way), like heathcliff and catherine. that's why i love that fic.
