when you get a masters degree youre allowed to respond to your professors emails with “ok love you”
can’t wait for this to happen
I’m only 7 days from a public defense of my BA thesis, but the whole point of the year was somewhere in:
getting phone numbers from, like, the third of faculty members
rambling at my academic supervisor via whatsapp at 9 p.m. from a library in Berlin only to update him on the thesis’ outline
meeting him Sunday mornings at the cafe, drinking cacao and having breakfast while discussing the thesis or conference papers (I miss this routine so much)
offering him tangerines at the uni
being invited for "Kaffee&Kuchen" by my German professor (seriously, he's the sweetest) when I came to Berlin
reading his poetry and discussing reforms in uni policies
getting some of “thnks gr8” emails from my project supervisor
chatting over with my classics professor whether or not we should have a class (actually, we’ve decided against it and agreed on that we could enjoy the evening at home)
him leaving our class with casual “I’m tired of you, until the next time”
hearing a daughter of my grant supervisor asking her when she’ll cook pancakes (zoom seminars have their own charm)
having my ancient Greek professor talking with me about “those wild creatures” (aka freshmen)
coming to a presentation of our department’s brand new MA programme (even though I don’t plan to apply) and silently snickering at stiffened faces of students from other unis who weren’t prepared for straight 4 hours of lectures on queer motifs in 18th century’s literature and a sex revolution in the USSR
the whole thing was like our department’s matinee with pizza and sex jokes
i’m in love with these people even though the fourth year was not the brightest in terms of courses and educational quality, the rest was quite an amazing journey
