“I still can’t help but blame myself for it.” Michael sighed. Michael grinned at Luke’s words and he nodded. “I feel the exact same way babe.” Michael explained. Michael shrugged his shoulders at that. “Honestly, I don’t know. Couldn’t have asked for better kids to be honest.” Michael replied. He nodded once again. “Ain’t that the truth?” Michael chuckled. As the two of them walked into the bedroom he smiled as Luke pulled them together. Resting his forehead on Luke’s, he wrapped his arms around the boy’s neck. “I love you too. More than you’ll ever know.” Michael said before pressing his lips to Luke’s softly.
“i’ll help you with that, don’t worry,” luke promised. he’d just have to keep telling michael over and over that it wasn’t his fault until he believed it. he grinned and pressed kisses along michael’s jaw. “they’re going to be smarter than us one day. i’m convinced leo actually is, and he’s just pretending to need us to make us feel better.” luke’s heart fluttered at those three words. it’s been so long since he’s heard them come from michael’s lips. “let me show you how much i love you, yeah?” he asked, licking over his lips nervously. this moment felt important, he didn’t want to mess it up.
“we recently got back from thailand. tropical paradise.”
“oh thailand is beautiful you guys must have had a great time.”

“I can understand that for sure. And I’m really sorry for making you go through all that pain.” Michael said as he kissed Luke’s cheek. He knew that wouldn’t exactly make all of Luke’s pain go away, but he was glad that Luke hopefully knew how sorry he was that this all happened. Michael laughed at Luke’s comment. “True, normal isn’t always fun. But you get what I mean.” Michael said. He nodded. “Nah, the kids would start figuring us out.” Michael explained. Michael smirked at Luke’s comment. “Great, means it’s our time for some fun.” Michael said excitedly as he followed Luke up toward the bedroom.
“don’t blame yourself,” he said firmly. the last thing he wanted was to be the source of michael’s guilt. his ex had enough stress on him as it is, luke didn’t want to add onto it. he wanted to make michael feel loved and protected and cared for. “i do, you meant normal for us. but just us being here together is enough for me for now,” he admitted. he finally had michael back, he wasn’t going to push it. “they’re both so bright, how did we get so lucky?” he chuckled at michael’s words. “lord knows we deserve it.” he pulled michael into his room and closed the door before wrapping his arms around michael, pulling them together. “hi,” he breathed, pressing their foreheads together. “i love you.”
“my favourite part of any holiday is taking my children somewhere warm and tropical. nothing is better than relaxing on the beach or by the pool.”
“did you go on a family trip recently?”
“I know, but I still wanted you to know why I did what I did. Really?” Michael questioned. He smiled as he wrapped his arms around Luke. “That’s all I ever wanted was to be with you and the kids.” Michael said. He nodded. “I guess, I just wish it didn’t have to be this way and we could finally be normal once again.” Michael explained. He nodded. Chuckling a little at Luke’s comment. “As long as it won’t be permanent. I’m fine with a little white lie.” Michael said. He grinned and let out a slight laugh before agreeing. “I’ve missed everything about you too. Especially sex.” Michael said as he playfully smacked the boy on the ass. “Could go upstairs right now? I don’t think the kids are even home.”
“of course, it was killing me not knowing. you don’t know what a relief it is to finally understand what’s going on. it was quite literally killing me not knowing.” he swallowed, trying not to think about the dark mindset he’s been in since the divorce. he didn’t want michael to know how much pain luke had been in, how he had bottles of antidepressants lined up in his medicine cabinet. “we’ve never been very normal,” he snorted. “we won’t make a habit out of it,” he promised. luke laughed, caught off guard by the playful swat on his ass. “they’re not, kamber’s at dance and leo is god knows where.” he winked before turning and leading his ex towards his bedroom.

luke: how do you feel about that? are you okay with it?
“I know hun and I wish I wouldn’t have had too, but I was scared. I was so scared what they were planning on doing to you if I had.” Michael said. Michael frowned a little. “I feel awful for doing this all to you and the kids.” Michael said as he buried his face into Luke’s neck. He sighed letting Luke rub his back. Knowing that Luke was probably right. Though he hated it. “I know, but I really don’t want the divorce to have to remain permanent. I just wish this guy would disappear from my life so that we can be happy and together.” Michael explained. He squeezed Luke’s hand as he chuckled. “You want me to lie to the kids?” Michael asked. He leaned forward and whispered in his ear. “We can always just be a little naughty tonight too.”
“i get it mikey, you don’t have to explain it anymore. it’s going to be behind us now. it’s going to be you, and me, and the kids, and no asshole getting between us. we just have to have patience.” luke shook his head. “love is sacrifice, and it can mean pain. you were keeping us safe.” he wanted so desperately to jump back into this with michael, but the rational side of him was too strong. there were too many variables, too many things that could go wrong. they just had to be patient. but he was never patient when it came to michael. “it’s not going to be permanent, don’t worry,” he promised. “just a little white lie,” he teased. a little shiver ran down luke’s spine at michael’s words. “it’s been too long,” he sighed. “i miss everything about you, especially sex.”

“I couldn’t hold it in anymore.” Michael admitted. He smiled as Luke kissed his forehead. He smiled more at Luke’s words and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “I don’t care. I always love hearing you tell me that. You’re my soulmate too. Can’t believe I made you think that I had fallen out of love with you. Definitely not the case.” Michael said as he rubbed his nose against Luke’s. He knew that the kids would probably want them back together. Kamber was someone he woudln’t want to tell the secret too of why he really divorced Luke, but he figured that Leo could probably handle the information. “We’ve lived together for how many years and that would be moving too fast?” Michael questioned. He just wanted to be with Luke again and it sucked that he couldn’t just come back home. “I want to sleep with you in my arms again or me in your arms and I just want things to go back to normal.” Michael sighed but smiled a little and kissed Luke back when he was kissed.
“you never should have had to hold it in.” he couldn’t believe that they could hold each other like this again, that he could feel michael’s soft lips against his skin again. “what else was i supposed to think? people in love don’t get divorced.” he snorted. “well, not usually. but you falling out of love with me was a little more believable than you getting blackmailed into doing it, so.” this was going to be a lot to discuss at his next therapy session, that was without a doubt. his emotions were a whirlwind, and while he was so happy to have his husband back, he still hurt. “things are different now. we can’t go from breaking up to being back together so easily. divorce is pretty permanent usually.” he nodded and pulled back, grabbing michael’s hand so they would still be touching. “sleep over here then, tell the kids you’re staying at a friend’s. leo can watch kamber.”

luke: that's very nice of him to do. why don't you want to use it? is it because you don't think the judges will like it?
“Why are you being mean, papa?” Kamber asks. “You weren’t mean before….” She muttered, instantly regretting what she said.
luke felt hurt and guilt pang through his chest, but he covered it quickly. “just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean i’m being mean. just for that you’re getting an extra three days. i know the divorce has been hard on you, and it’s been very hard on me, but that doesn’t give you an excuse to talk back to me or try to hurt me. i’m your father but i’m a person too and you need to respect my feelings.”

“Okay…. I’m sorry.” Kamber just nodded, not wanting to talk about it any more. “But I hate being grounded. Can’t it just be something else?”
“you’re not supposed to like it kamber, it’s a punishment. if you didn’t want to get grounded you shouldn’t have broken the rules.”

Michael: Sometimes I wish I was. But then other times I'm just like I'm sure those people who are geniuses brains must hurt a lot.
Michael: That sounds like a good plan.
luke: ignorance is bliss i guess
luke: do you think the divorce is making her act out?
Michael leaned up and kissed Luke on the cheek. “I know, but again I did all this for you not get harmed. And I wouldn’t want that to happen because you’re just now finding out about this.” Michael said. He sighed happily as Luke rubbed his back. “I’m the most happy when I’m with you and the kids. It’s definitely not true. Never fell out of love with you.” Michael said. He sighed knowing that Luke was right. “So, what should we tell them?” Michael asked wanting to be able to be back in Luke’s life as much as possible. “We may not be able to get married again right now. But moving back in wouldn’t hurt right? I mean, I’d feel like I’d be protecting you more if I could.” Michael said. Michael groaned at Luke’s comment. “Don’t want to go slow.” Michael pouted.
“i’m glad you’re telling me michael. nothing’s going to happen to us, now that we know what’s going on we can take steps to be safe.” luke smiled and pressed his lips to michael’s forehead, leaving them there as he continued to rub his ex’s back. “i know i always tell you this, but you’re my soulmate. no matter what life throws at us it’ll always be you and me.” luke sighed, and paused to think. of course he wanted the kids to have their parents back, but he didn’t want to scare them or upset them. “we should talk to them, tell them we’re trying to work things out. tell them we’re taking it slow, but we still love each other,” he supplied. “that could be moving a little too fast baby.” he smiled and pissed michael’s pouting lips. “i know baby, i’m sorry.”
