I haven't been on here in a hot minute because i've been busy with college, but I do want to update that Cinnamon has been stable, healthy, fat and loved for the past few months!! I'm so happy she's fully recovered, at least for the time being, and for such a long time :) Yay for Cinnamon!!
The girls carved their own pumpkin this year
I got two more girls a month ago, spritz and boo. THEY ARE SO TINY compared to my girls! The pumpkin carving really helped bring them all together and intros went really well :)
cage clean!
Hi I have a special interest in rodents and I'd like to let you know this enclosure is so fucking awesome
Enough bedding to properly burrow and nest in
Chews everywhere for their big ass teeth
So many things to explore, perfect for enrichment
Big wheels with solid surfaces, won't cause back injuries
What appears to be paper bedding, which is probably the safest option right next to aspen
Sorry this invoked a joy within me I haven't experienced since I was 9 I had to lt it out
AAA I love this thank you so much! I try so hard for them, they deserve the world honestly. I have done aspen bedding for them before, but it's not super available/ affordable for me, so I get big bags of low dust paper bedding and I mix it with hay. I recently got them a bigger wheel thats quieter bc the blue wheel was so loud I had to wear my noise canceling earmuffs to sleep. The little ones look so small on it😂😂. I get so sad because I set up the cage so nice and pretty and they decide to rearrange the whole thing in a week. You have absolutely no need to be sorry I love when people talk about stuff they love! especially if it's animal related!! I'm so happy you like the enclosure, it means a lot when people who are super educated on the pets I own like my setup. Feels like I'm doing something right. Thank you!
not sure if youve posted this already, but could you show us a detailed view on the construction of the cage/enclosure itself that you use for your mice? i see its tagged as an ikea hamster cage but it also looks like youve done some personal add ons :0
i'm so glad u asked! so I actually followed a youtube tutorial by VanillaHamHam to make the cage itself. I recently made a lid based off one I saw on a mouse forum, I had to draw up my own blueprints which was a pain since I never really done that before and I used sketch up for the first time which took me hours. I'm not sure if I still have the measurements, I know it adds 30cm in height.
I'll make a full post on the process as soon as I can. I'm pretty busy and I have to dig up some old WIP pictures so it might be a hot minute before its up. Thank you.
CW/TW: mouse passed away
After a rescue from the fate of being a feeder mouse and a year and a half of a very fulfilling life my beloved angel Measles has passed on. Hope they have lots of treats and wheels for you to run on in heaven, Meebs. I love you, thank you and good bye💕
She would run everywhere and was fairly skittish, but when we lost 2 of her first 3 mischief mates she came to me for attention all the time. I cherish every moment I had with her and I'm grateful for all she taught me about mice and life in general. She was amazing for introductions and in the end she had 7 other mischief mates to call friends and she came to me less since her new friends could meet her needs. I was a little sad, but overall very happy she wasn't lonely anymore. Mooney has been with her since the beginning and she seems to be doing okay despite the loss. I'm glad the girls all have each other, I know in my heart they all loved her. For her not being from a breeder, she lived a long time. I found her while cleaning the cage, I suspected she was gone before that though when she stopped showing up for food. She went peacefully in her sleep based on her remains. I can pretty confidently say that she went because it was her time, and that I was surprised to have gotten to spend so much time with her.
With this post I want to not only eternalize her memory, but share as much of the joy she brought me with whomever may see this post. She would steal food from the other girls instead of foraging her own, she'd zoom everywhere she went, she badgered the other mice to groom her, she'd chew at my nails bc they weren't up to her standards and she was so curious and loved to explore.
physically, she was smaller than my breeder mice, had soft orange fur and a white belly, a pink nose, ears and tail, and a very pointy face. She was adorable. Thank you if you took the time to read this and thank you if you just looked at her pictures. May she rest in peace.
looks like the girls like naps in the ceramic frog 🐸

I made a few edits for Pride Month!
I’m a lesbian and my pet mice are my whole world, so I thought combining the two would be nice. The original art of the mouse is by Naomi Lord, I just made the edits. I hope you like them!

CW// cancer, mention of euthanasia
if you've been following me or at least my posts of cinnamon the mouse, you'll know that shes been sick quite a lot throughout my timeline. my partner talked with my vet the other day and we have all came to the conclusion that she most likely has cancer. she doesn't have any external lumps or anything but she is showing signs of metastasis. I have increased her food intake, and am focusing on getting her to retain weight. she's still super high energy if she gets frequent snacks and food, so I don't think euthanasia is her current path, but it definitely may be a choice I have to make for her in the future. She's so smart, brave, and a fighter. I'm so glad to be able to be in her life and have her in mine, even if it is only for a short while longer.
That's my update on her for y'all, she's gotta be one of the friendliest mice I've had, she loves to burrow in my hair and literally tries to crawl in my mouth... Here's some pics of her burrowing and laying in my hair behind my ponytail.
my partner is stitching some hammocks for my mice rn... they really love me fr
He's built such a good nest this week!
