ANNIE & HUGHIE
1x07 the self-preservation society
i really enjoyed gen v for what it was. it wasn't one of the best shows i've ever watched but it had its charm and i cannot shake the feeling that all of it was completely pointless at the end. not because of a premise but because of the way how it left absolutely no impact on the boys. some would argue that sam and cate cameos were important but for me writers could literally throw any other reacurring characters in their place and everything would be the same. whole odessa plotline? it could've been an email. the supe virus as well. gen v would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE IF THEY LET CHARACTERS FROM BOTH SHOWS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER FOR MORE THAN 3 MINUTES. i can literally recall people being excited after the season 1 of the gen v, hoping to see cate on homelander's side and marie on the boys' side. people compared the main cast of gen v with the main cast of the boys, noticing the patterns. after season 2 people hoped to see marie and homelander interact since they were supposed to be the strongest supes vought ever created (even if there were voices of people that didn't like gen v and/or marie). in season 5? gen v is barely there both character and plot wise. WHAT WAS THE POINT
okay but the way sam handled rue and lexi is also sick. lexi considered rue her best friend and we didn't even get a scene where she is grieving her properly
oh fexi nation we lost so bad i am so aggravated.
We get a Fez phonecall with Lexi in the final episode or we riot.
All I wanted was fezco Lexi phone call
so rue's dead, fexi didn't happen (even off screen), faye and wayne suffered no consequences, cassie tells everyone that nate has just "gone missing" and jules is still in relationship with her sugar daddy
this season was shitty as fuck but that conversation between cassie and lexi kind of fixed a few bad things
maeve + hughie
i cannot believe all the bad takes i saw about homelander that made me defend him bcs all of you dumb bitches always have to look for some excuse or blame everything on "bad writing" when it comes to his character
"he was only a good villain in s1 they later turned him into a joke" – bitch we talk about the same guy who was jealous of his boss' damn baby due to his obsession with breast milk and his mommy issues
"he was a victim and vought is a true villain" – as if both things cannot be true at once. of course vought is the series greatest villain but you have to be crazy af to act like homelander isn't a villain of his own
"homelander begging for his life was so ooc" – BITCH OF COURSE HE WOULD BEG FOR HIS GODDAMN LIFE IN THE MOST PATHETIC WAY. he is nothing without his powers and a fucking pussy
"he was acting far too human in this season" – as if that's not the whole point of his internal conflict throughout the WHOLE SERIES. he wants to be perceived as god but he is no god. he just wants more and more power and love but it will never be enough for him and no one will ever live up to his expectations (not even homelander himself)
"he didn't deserve death" – like babe i'm sorry to break it to you but he had to go💔💔
all the things people say about lexi and how she "became so insufferable and annoying" only proves my point that they've never "got" her in the first place. i'll never fall into "lexi has always been judgemental" propaganda, not because it isn't true (bcs yeah lexi observes and judges others) but because people act like she doesn't have every right to do so. no, lexi didn't have to listen to rue talking about her religious awakening. no, lexi didn't have to keep cassie's work a secret. no, lexi didn't have to tell maddy shit. lexi doesn't owe them any kindness or loyalty
kat and lexi will have the craziest fucking facetime call after all that shit ends
lexi at the end of the series thanks to her screenplay while the rest of her friends and her sister were fucking around and finally found out:
