Daisy Mae appreciation post
I don't trust anybody that gatekeeps knowledge. The idea of not wanting to share what you know with others because of what? A fear that you're no longer better than them? Has no place in my heart. True knowledge-lovers know that information is meant to be shared and discussed and passed along so that everyone can benefit from it. It is an infinite resource. There is plenty to go around. Build up those around you. Create access to information and knowledge!
Így.
if i took a women's scholarship and then transitioned during college would that count as swindling
WOULD THEY TAKE THE MONEY BACK
plan of action:
> take womens scholarship
> go to law school
> transition during law school
> get sued about it
> take it to the supreme court
> defend myself
> trans rights?
stop being funnier than me
Hi!! I'm planning on going to law school next year and I'm scared!! You're doing well so what is your advice?
Don't listen to other people.
Everyone is going to say things that are going to make you question whether or not you think you can do this. Everyone has their ideas about what you should or shouldn't do and your classmates are going to subtly brag about how far ahead in the reading they are.
If you keep your blinders on, put your head down, and do the work, you're going to be just fine. The academic success people will have some good tips, but they're only good if they work for you. Don't try to force it if it's not helping you. You probably already know how you learn best. Stick to that and make adjustments as needed.
Your professors will cold call you. It's only scary the first time. My first cold call was in Torts and my professor dragged me through the mud, but I took notes from that experience and applied it to the next one and it went great. They want you to succeed and as long as you are prepared, you'll do just fine, even if you mess up. (Everyone does, and nobody remembers anyway)
Take note of what your professors prioritize in class discussions (policy, cases, etc.)
Don't be afraid to ask questions, just don't ask ridiculous hypotheticals that have nothing to do with anything because nobody likes that person.
Briefing cases is important. If you want some help, let me know!
Stay on top of the reading. I liked the flipped schedule (doing all of the reading for the week on the weekend and using the weekday for notes/outlining/LCR). Maintain your outline on a weekly basis and maintain it well. This is the key to a low-stress finals. Get your LCR assignments done early. Editing takes longer than the actual writing.
Prioritize sleep. If you're too tired to absorb the information, you're not learning anymore. Let yourself process what you've completed and come back to it when you'll actually retain it.
Study groups are a waste of time. (Disclaimer: I am an introvert and I am very particular about my study habits, so this is my personal opinion and not a fact)
This is the gist of my take away from my first semester. I read books about 1L and heard other people talk about it beforehand and tbh I really think it's way overhyped how awful and stressful it all is. I actually really enjoyed my first semester and was not all that stressed. Even finals were fine. As long as you stay on top of your shit, you'll be okay. However, staying on top of your shit does mean sacrificing other things you want to do a lot of the time. I worked one day a week so the other six days I was studying. I don't think I had a single "day off" the entire semester. I didn't go out, I didn't really socialize much outside of class and work. I spent an hour each night eating dinner with my fiancee and then it was back at it until bed time. I'm a little extreme, but I mention this only to emphasize how important discipline is. It doesn't have to suck, but it does have to be your number one priority.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions I am more than happy to share! I love knowledge and I love sharing what I know with other people so don't ever be shy!
