surprisingly, the initial discussions with her team went off without a hitch. she’s never been the best at expressing herself, but for her brand’s newest collection, her creativity just started flowing. everything came together surprisingly well. with the model picked, it was time for hyunhee to sit down with her and discuss their plan of action.

the spread on the table is less now since it’s just the two of them, but there are still plenty of pastries to choose from. hyunhee had also contacted minji’s manager inquiring about what her favorite drink was so she could have that ready for her too. she’s halfway through a chocolate croissant when she hears a soft knock on the door.

“come in!” she yells, standing up from her seat. she waves excitedly as mini walks in, gesturing her to sit at the seat across from her. “please sit! we have lots to talk about so i made sure to get us snacks.” hyunhee takes her seat once again.

“oh! and before i forget this is for you,” she says pushing a box towards the idol. “everything from the newest collection plus a few extra things.”

this isn't minji's first time modeling, but this one feels nice. she's modeling for someone she knew as a trainee. in fact, minji remembers their prior interaction in particular; the girl coming up to her with a kiss goodbye album, shyly asking for an autograph. therefore, this project was a special one.

the girl made sure to come to this initial meeting in top condition. despite being a night owl, she made sure to get a full night of rest the previous night, and also made sure to arrive at the building early. "hello," she greets other excitedly, entering the room with a bounce in her step. she takes the seat across from hyunhee, immediately eyeing all of the pastries in front of her. "wow! how will i ever choose?" she jokingly asks; of course, she will try them all at least once.

the idol graciously accepts the gifts as well, gawking at the belts she immediately sees as she opens the box. "these are so cute!" she pulls one out, then stands up and immediately holds them up to her jeans. while she has no way of seeing what it looks like, she shows them to hyunhee to see. "i'm going to be wearing these all the time. thank you!"

she sits back down, calming herself in order to get to business. "so, we should talk about the ad campaign, right? i might get too carried away if i keep looking at these belts..."

”i wasn’t sure what you’d like! i think i went a little overboard,” hyunhee says with a chuckle. “but you can take whatever is left over back home to your members. i wouldn’t want this going to waste.”

“i’m glad you like the belts! my brand is focusing on accessories, and i think statement belts are coming back into style with the whole y2k revival. i think maybe next time i’ll add some more buckles. i like that they’re interchangeable, it saves you from having, like, 20 belts.” hyunhee laughs again before taking a sip of her drink. “easier to store, too!”

“ah, you’re right! let’s get into it,” she says while pushing over a stack of papers towards minji. “here’s the script. there’s a few lines where you talk, but it’s mostly to the camera and then the person you’re meeting at the end of the commercial. i’d like your input as well.” hyunhee looks up at the idol with a smile. “the concept is basically set, but if there’s anything you can think of that might add a little pizazz, we can work with that.”

it’d been a while since the two of them had hung out together that wasn’t inclusive of their schedules. they were both able to travel together because of fashion week, film together for valentine’s day. being a part of the same career field as your family has its perks.

only if you can tolerate them, of course.

when hyunhee had asked jisoo to come over, she hadn’t expected it to be so soon. they lived in the same apartment complex, though. she was deluding herself thinking it would take him a while to get back to her with times when he was available.

the doorbell rings and she goes to get it. letting jisoo in, hyunhee kicks aside some of her shoes to make room for his. “you should have texted me more than like, ten minutes before you were coming over,” she huffs shutting the door behind him. “i would have cleaned up.” her apartment’s a mess as usual, but she’s not embarrassed by it, not in front of jisoo. but honestly, though, she wouldn’t have cleaned up regardless. that’s just how he is.

”do you want something to drink?” she asks heading over to the kitchen. hyunhee grabs a glass for herself

"i could physically walk back to my apartment right now and come back in five," he gives her a blatant look. they've been in one another's messier spaces before - this was nothing, seriously! but things were different years ago. if anyone asked him a decade ago whether he'd be getting closer or further away from family, he would not have guessed it'd be the former. and it was great. one step away from being roomies, he joked from time to time, to dig at hyunhee, but it was likely better for them to be in actual separated rooms.

"as long as you have umm clean cups, i'm down. but do you actually have anything other than water, because otherwise i will give you ten minutes because i'll go down to the convenience store and grab us some options." following her path directly, he peers over her shoulder to get an eyeful of the fridge. "you know what, surprise me." jisoo takes a straight 180 turn and goes and plops himself down in the chair, as if he hadn't been sofa-rotting in his own place.

"it's. so nice to just. have a breather. i couldn't do fashion week every single week, if you know what i mean. how was it? are you enjoying everything?"

”of course i have clean cups.” hyunhee rolls her eyes as she fishes two out of the cabinet, one for her and one for jisoo. “i’m not an animal. plus i have a dishwasher.” she looks down at the appliance. “it makes things easy for me.”

her eyes scan the fridge, deciding what she should serve her guest. she had lots of cans, soda, energy drinks, even single serve coffees. none of those felt right for this occasion, though. hyunhee ponders for only a minute more, knowing that if she held the door open for too long the fridge would start beeping at her. she grabs the bottle of sparkling water from the fridge, setting it down on the counter before turning back towards the fridge and filling their cups up with ice. the model rifles through her cabinet once more, grabbing a bottle of cherry syrup and adding it to the drinks. she finishes each cup off with a straw before joining jisoo on the couch.

“my newest hyper-fixation,” she tells him handing the glass over. “i saw one recipe on tiktok and now i’m obsessed! i have other flavors of syrup too, if you want to change it up a bit.” hyunhee smiles, bouncing in her seat a bit.

“fashion week was awesome!” she exclaims. “i agree, though. i couldn’t do it every week. there was too much going on all the time.” hyunhee pauses for a moment, biting her lip. “can i be honest? i felt a little self-conscious afterwards. what’s it called? imposter syndrome, maybe? but it just felt bad to be with all those other models who have been around much longer than i have. oh, and they’re so much taller too,” she sighs. she wasn’t expecting to dump all her feelings out so early, but jisoo did make the mistake of asking for it.

honestly, it’s quite a surprise to hyunhee that one has to physically audition to become an MC. her second go-around the process is smoother, but prior to debut she thought that the music shows reached out to the companies and hand picked who they liked. at the end of the day, not everything is fair. she’s sure that a handful of people hadn’t gotten their roles from just their audition (whether they had one at all) and perhaps there was a sizeable donation made to the music program.

conspiracy theories aside, her audition for sbs’ inkigayo went smoothly. the producers liked her, especially since she already had some hosting experience from her stint on sbs’ other music program, the show.

she waited anxiously for the results, but as soon as they were announced all hyunhee felt was joy. there’s been a hole in her heart that only performing can fill. since debuting as a model, there haven’t been many opportunities to fill that. when there are, however, she jumps at them.

she’s given the opportunity to have a special performance, and she thinks long and hard about what she wants to perform. hyunhee settles on yena’s smartphone, the melody addicting and fun. if she were to debut as a solo artist, she thinks that yena’s music would suit her. it’s not singing heavy, crazy high notes nowhere in sight. debuting a solely rapping is hard, something that took a while for her to realize. she hates singing in musicals, but singing on stage? she’s come around to it.

the other thing that hyunhee challenges herself this trimester with is song writing. finally, the opportunity to write for her favorite legacy entertainment girl group fabula arises. she’s over the moon at being included in the writing process, offering her insight on the melody and trying out the rap herself. she wonders who will get the parts she helped write. eunhye, maybe? there wasn’t a specific member she thought about when she put her pen to the paper writing these verses, thinking of all the members as badasses in their own right.

hyunhee has dipped her toes in many aspects of the entertainment world. once she had wanted to debut as solely an idol. now that she’s a model, she’s realize how much nicer the world can be, how many opportunities open up. she’s not an actress by any means, but it’s something that interests her. featuring in this short film for lgc’s annual love month event excites her, especially once she spots jisoo and a plan forms in her head.

”you think i would give up an opportunity to work with my favorite person?” she asks excitedly, tilting her head as a smile forms on her face. “plus, it means less work for me! i love a collaboration!” hyunhee laughs. “we’re a good team, i think. plus,” she says, humming softly. “we’ve got the upper hand when it comes to familial love.” she pauses for a moment, then her face contorts.

“well, its kind of cringey when i say it out loud like that.”

"quick, get that magic in the recording studio before the cringe wears off. i think saying something like familial love would fit the bill, genuinely." he shoots hyunhee a long look, wondering if maybe it had been a bad idea to approach her after all. certainly it'd be easier with anyone other than his own cousin right?

"but i think that really would be the angle to go off of. i wonder if people even know of us being cousins all that often?" jisoo might mention it here or there, maybe drop it during a vlog but he's unsure if any general fans had caught on. then again, they were a pair of models with some other type of gigs here and there. they didn't garner the same type of notoriety that the idols got, especially with that type of publicity. "i think if we did mention something cutesy about how familial love is a great bond, or something along those lines, it'd probably record quite well with some of the animations they had planned... but again, how cheesy do we want it to sound....?"

"you think people don't know?" she asks, genuinely curious. "well, i'm sure not everybody knows, but don't you think they wonder why we're always together? there's that stigma of girls hanging out with boys, so why are we seen in public or in projects so often? either we're dating or we're family, there's no in-between, obviously." hyunhee laughs, leaning against the wall.

she feigns throwing up as jisoo offers his ideas. though hyunhee truly does love her cousin, the idea of showcasing that love in front of the camera makes her cringe.

"i guess cheesy is the point, though," she hums, thinking of her own ideas. "what's a better character to play than ourselves? but for the theme, hm," she chews on her bottom lip as she thinks. "something along the lines of family always being there for you? how does that sound? too obvious? too basic?"

makes the world go round

jisoo was stuck between choosing to do a recording on self-love or familial love but... he would only do the latter if hyunhee turned up. they had set out an arrangement for the models and actors to do some recordings, which didn't feel long at all... considering what they typically did. cameras or the spotlight were on them for much longer than 3 minutes. in fact, they might run.. out of time?

even then, spreading it between two people might make it more relatable since self-love could come across multiple ways. when he spots a very familiar bob, jisoo calls out. "hyunhee-yah! i'm glad i caught you here. so...? skit together, yes or no? we could definitely plan it out a bit first, unless you've already recorded yours? then you could possibly judge what i ought to do with my bit. i don't want to come across conceited." there was nothing written on his sheet of paper yet, blank as his mind, but he knows the ideas could come quickly.

FASHION WEEK SOLO

though many may think the model to be nervous during her first appearance at fashion week, especially since she’s booked to walk the runway, hyunhee feels actually quite the opposite. she is excited for the chance to do something other than photoshoots. it might be wishful thinking on her part, but truly it can’t be that hard, right?

the nights get to her though as slowly she starts to worry about how she may be perceived, and whether or not she’s ready for this. of course, hyunhee has practiced her walk many times and taken the criticism from her instructors. but just like with being an idol, she’s not the best model, either. why has it taken her this long to realize that she can’t just coast her way through everything in life?

she spends too much time awake at night in her hotel room worrying about this and that. will it look awkward since she’s not as tall as some of the other models? the modeling scene has become more accepting of different heights and bodies since the 2000s but still, people judge. will her walk be fierce enough? what if she messes up? is she professional enough to catch herself.

she practices her walk tireless in her bedroom, her expressions in the mirror. she won’t be made a fool of, and hyunhee knows her confidence will come back once she’s calmed down. she calls haeun and tells her about how she’s struggling, the other girl’s words reassuring her that if she wasn’t good enough, they wouldn’t have cast her in the first place.

the day comes for her debut and hyunhee’s confidence is back. she leaves abroad with a new state of mind, wanting to better herself. she’s deep in it now and she’s realized it’s no longer a game.

despite the looming presence of a manager, hyunhee is determined to have fun exploring the city with her cousin. the entourage of legacy entertainment babysitters has her feeling a bit miffed, but as it was explained they were there to shoot content, not police their behavior, even though it feels more like the latter.

as they walk the bustling streets of the concrete jungle, hyunhee documents some of the bigger sites to be seen with her cell phone. the flashing billboards, the street performers, the various storefronts. she pauses her photoshoot, letting her hand fall to her side and looking up at jisoo.

“where’s our first stop? has anything caught your eye yet?” she asks as they keep walking. “i know i want to do some souvenir shopping, but many of the tourist-y stores have the same things so i don’t think it matters which of those we go into. i also wanted to do some real shopping too,” hyunhee chuckles.

the best thing about travel with hyunhee is that its someone he is familiar with, and there is zero chance of scandal for anyone. it means he can be himself, yet be on vacation. its nice to have family that he get along with but can also grow in their careers alongside. "what - you don't have a plan already made out?" he had a small list of shops he wanted to stop by, along with things that were apparent 'must eats'. he's guessing that he's the one directing where they're walking, not her. "if you don't have anything to propose, then i do have a mini route of what i want to see. but i think it's best to get souveniours that aren't from those tacky shops. its overpriced and not very personal - unless you know someone that collects magnets or silly t-shirts." not to be an asshole, but what jisoo means is - "i think people would prefer something personalized from somewhere overseas, rather than a throwaway item. but don't let me stop you either."

"although i bet those I ❤ NY shirts will get popular again since i heard the 2016's are coming back... oh did you hear, there's a jellycat diner here? don't know if we stop by unless you wanted to peek in." otherwise there was a lot to sightsee around here. but seriously, wow there was a lot of noise and grit in this city. "have you been to times square before?"

”jisoo, i trust you would know me by now,” she says with a giggle looking over at her cousin. for him to expect hyunhee of all people to have a plan is naive. she’s always been one to go with the flow rather than to have a concrete idea in place. it’s something that others have found annoying of her, but she’s not ready to change . . . yet.

“i think i want one silly t-shirt,” she confesses. “personalized souvenirs? that’s so cute! i wouldn’t have thought of that. oh! i’ve seen people do workshops on tiktok when they travel, but i wonder if we’ll need a reservation?” hyunhee muses.

“jellycat diner? oh we have to go,” she nods furiously. “i’ve seen times square in pictures and on camera, never in real life.” she confesses. “wow, you really had a whole itinerary this whole time and you were keeping it from me?” she chuckles, looking up at him.

hyunhee considers herself a bit of a shopaholic. but it's fine, really. unfortunately the model has always been able to afford this bad habit of hers. a privilege, yes. so of course she's excited to attend the legacy entertainment pop-up store, even if it's not the kind of shopping she really likes to do. she's excited to look through all the goods the acting and modeling division has released for the end of the year. she's especially excited to see her own season's greetings, as she hasn't properly inspected them yet.

she dresses cutely for the occasion, pairing a soft and fluffy pink winter coat with a white skirt. of course, she wears fleece lined tights, ensuring that she stays warm. it's not the biggest concern on her mind, though, as hyunhee knows the event will be indoors. she wears a white fluffy hat, and finishes off the outfit with the comfiest boots.

she's grateful for the time they're given before the fans come through in order to look through the various merchandise. she makes a note of what's hers, haeun's and finally jisoo's, as she plans to purchase at least one thing from each of their collections, even if purchasing something from her own makes her seem a bit vain.

when interacting with her fans, she's excited to see everyone's faces up close and personal. it's been far too long since she's had a meaningful meeting with the people who support her. hyunhee takes particular interest in a younger girl, as she asks her for makeup tips . hyunhee is happy to oblige, giving up her secrets to the younger girl, letting her know her favorite products at the moment and holy grails in her arsenal.

"oh, i wish i could give you some of my extras! i have so many lip tints at home you wouldn't believe it." hyunhee pouts, feeling bad that she can't give away what she gets to free to her fans.
